Superman looks like a depressed construction worker getting ready for a job he hates at 4 am...
I'm a construction worker and it's exactly what came to mind immediately
Just your average Amazon employee back to the warehouse for some modern, recreational serfdom
He's pulling himself up by his bootstraps
I don't think construction work is the the low of the low, do some actual research or please stop.
one can almost listen to "f*ck", as he finally wears the boots, then a second "f*ck", when he tries to standup, a fina F8cuk when he finallly stand up.
I will NEVER forgive Hollywood for NOT giving me a Cavill Superman that was a positive and happy Superman. He was so PERFECT. If only he had been given a script where Superman actually LIKED being Superman.
This. The last thing I want to see is yet another GrimDark, Zach Snyder Superman, who doesn't give a crap about anything.
In that pile of garbage that was the Justice League movie, there was a glimpse of what could've been. It was definitely not something that came from Snyder. For all his flaws, Joss Whedon could've given us a Superman that brings hope. In the wrong hands, even diamonds turn to sht.
Hollywood? They might suck, but Snyder is the asshat that didn’t understand the character. Pretty sure after people told him, he doubled down and continued to bastardize Superman out of spite.
He did. I mean, in his first flight, in MoS, he was almost crying he was so happy. He was also cracking wise, later in the film.
In BvS, after he saved the girl from the fire, he smiled at her parents.
Those are just a few examples. There were others.
I don't think I ever saw a live-action superhero like that, other than the Christopher Reeves movies and the (glorious) Batman tv series. You can only have either broody and miserable or sardonic douche cracking jokes.
Remember when Cavill said the new Superman would be patriotic, positive and uplifting, then he was fired. Remember that? Now this Gunn sneak peek.
If you think he was let go for saying that you’re lost in the sauce.
@@user-xr7fi6dy1w Of course not, but look what's coming.
@@user-xr7fi6dy1w as someone with zero interest in these films I don’t get the impression jimmerhardy is actually saying that is the reason but it’s perfectly reasonable to suggest a correlation between the two incidents.

Generous interpretation: Superman's having a Mr. Incredible moment.
"No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. I feel like the maid. I just cleaned up this mess, can't you keep it clean for ten minutes?!"
Perhaps. But given that it's an in-between-takes photo it's the actor that looks that way. In that moment he's not playing Superman, he's just a guy with an acting job.
@@justinm2697 That context doesn't come across in the photo. He's not sitting in a "backstage" environment, or with other staff, or next to filming equipment, or anything to break the illusion. Releasing this specific photo for PR was foolish.
@@Hypershell What's foolish is people negatively judging one picture that isn't even bad.

@@JustapErsonWhat does an AI photo look like exactly? How does this compare?
If they had replaced the image in the window with a solid block of Chroma-Key green or old blue screen it would have told viewers it was a behind the scenes image and it wouldn't be taken so badly.
Maybe it was the LED volume behind him, and that's just what was cued up on the screen at that time?
Man looks tired and like he hates his life.
"ANOTHER space laser? Come on Luthor! It's 5am gosh darn it! Guess I'll have to say Metroplis AGAIN. "
It's tough times my friend.
Prob gonna be relatable then
False. He looks like he's been in a big battle yet still has a tinge of levity on his face despite the circumstances.
Maybe his only son died in Vietnam and his wife left him and he's an alcoholic and nobody respects him as an archeology professor. Maybe he just got a visit from his "god daughter" that's never been seen or mentioned before just now. Maybe he just wants some of that tasty green space cow milk straight from the teet. So many possibilities.
This joke might have worked with Peter Quill. James Gunn is the wrong guy for a Superman movie.
Yes, I think you got it. It's just Gunn trying to make a joke at Supe's expense. Not gonna work. Not watching, not even in the high seas.
Nah
Even if comedy was appropriate, Gunn has lost his creativity. He's a yes man now.
On the contrary I think Gunn is exactly the right guy they needed 10 years ago to helm the DCU. But its too little an too late now I think. the DCU reboot is dead on arrival
I personally like James Gunn's weird/cruel humor and even I think he's in the completely wrong movie here. Very prideful (or greedy) of him to take over the project instead of delegating it.
The problem is, this is something we should NEVER see! Especially with a laser in the background, he would be moving so quick he'd NEVER be in focus. There has to be some indication he's moving at an insane speed or he just seems like he doesn't care.
Sounds like One Punch Man where Saitama is disappointed that he has no real challenge. The villain can always be defeated with one punch.
James Gunn’s run will go down as one of the most epic failures in cinema history.
Why??? Tell me why??? Give me good arguments

Drinker is right. We dont need another Taika Waititi like Superhero movie where you have an apocalyptic setting and the hero makes jokes. Superman was always a serious hero who carried the whole weight of the earth on his shoulders. Literally.
Actually he's a serious character, but in a light hearted tone unlike batman.
@@rommelbengaliI think that’s a better description of him. He’s a man where in any situation he tries to be positive and who understands the full seriousness of the situation but does so with a positive attitude.
He's serious, but he's also an optimist and he possesses pretty much every one of the classical virtues. The only internal conflict he struggles with is the fact that he always has to pull his punches.
@@alexvesper7820nah read some more comics, he also struggles with the burden of being Superman, the pressure of perfection and the ideal of Superman. Pulling his punches isn’t the only internal struggles he has, that would make him boring and not relatable
@thegotspod the point is that he's not an antihero, he's a hero. Modern studios have forgotten how to do heroes.
It's synthetic Kryptonite Superman from Superman 3.
Don't worry. He always gets there in time.
To be fair, he might be putting on the suit at superspeed. Its just that the camera speed is clocked in at 1/1000000 sec
Or his sock got bunched up in his boot and needs to fix it right away.
He has that look on his face like an Amazon Warehouse employee on a Monday morning getting ready for his 12 hour shift.
The look of a FOXConn factory worker when they realize that new suicide nets were just installed 😂
This is what an Amazon warehouse worker looks like when he has to pretend to fiddle with his boot to disguise the fact that he's peeing in a bottle.
James needs a better PR/ marketing team. Assuming he has one. Every decision he has made since announcing Henry's firing has been polarizing.
Ouch, good point.
Yeah, sad.
Gunn has always had an issue with taste. He has niche humor to put it lightly and often his tastes are not what the general audience likes. GotG is an outlier because of Disney/Marvel Studios reigning him in. I thought his The Suicide Squad, without oversight, had significant issues with the humor and characterization of many characters. Gunn unchecked is not good in my opinion and having him in charge of DC is a ticking time bomb, especially with popular characters like Superman and Batman.
This is a chronic case of not reading the room.
@@tristandevlin6667That is a big problem of WB. They are VERY director-friendly and seem to let the directors do what they want unchecked. That works for directors with a crystal clear vision. But some directors. Synder, Gunn, Taika. Need to be kept on a short leash.

When you do Superman reboot, make it a period piece like in the 50s where there is no technology that has facial recognition so eyeglasses make sense. Never make any tie ins with other DC characters. Never make Lois lane another babe boss character but more of a damsel in distress.
The depiction of Superman in this photo seems to portray him as a reluctant and a sad character. DC already has a dark and brooding hero. His name is Batman. To morph Superman into a morose character simply makes him redundant. There is a reason, nearly 50 years since Christopher Reeve first donned the tights, that people still look so fondly on his portrayal of Superman. He represented the exact antithesis of this cynicism. It is time that DC recapture the optimism that Reeve so fully embodied when they portray Superman.
Superman is optimism and idealism in its best form.

2. I love the outfit it is incorpurating the shoulder cape, the henry cavel waffle pattern, a little bit of injustice, the shoulder pads are sick. (PS) James Gun said there is no padding he actully got in good shape for this film.
3.I love the threat in the background looks like a real enemy of the city, maybe braniac?
Superman is putting his suit on to deal with another threat to Metropolis. It's like anyone else getting up in the morning to put their work clothes on. I mean, at least he has the curl and the red trunks, but I desperately wanted a more traditional costume, like Brandon Routh's suits. Peacemaker looks comic accurate, Supes should, too.
Almost makes me think they wanna tie it into Pattinson's Batman, since that also goes for a more "realistic" look.
Unfortunately, not everything that looks good in comics can look good in live action.
Think of MODOK and the classic Green Arrow costumes from the TV series.
@@ii-mp1sp I'm not gonna disagree with that in general, but Superman in particular works in live action. Reeve and Routh both had costumes that were comics accurate and looked good.
Cant wait until they reveal the kryptonian sky beam DUBSTEP machine 😂
Sick of these movies. All superhero stuff needs to be put on hold for at least a decade.
This is how we put on our shoes. Put on our shoes. Put on our shoes.
So early before the apocalypse!
Burnet’s explanation was insane it doesn’t matter they released it and it sucks.
Lmao he is so fucking stupid just hearing his bullshit drops the iq about 10 points per word
Ive never seen RMB drop the ball so hard. Wtf was that?
@@Brian_Boru I have lots of times... hes always making excuses for things should have heard him go on making excuses for georg Lucas selling out lol his takes almost always suck now
Yeah, it looks like sh*t.
I’ll never forgive them for not giving me at least 3 Cavill movies that centered around ONLY Superman. MoS wasn’t perfect, but it had sooooo much going for it. A second installment could have been so good. They had the most perfect human specimen playing the most perfect superhero and they blew it.
Why would Superman have to put on his boots. In the original Chris Reeve as he was falling his costume would just change into as he falls.
Just give me a minute! (I'm getting my boots on...)
When you haven't had your second cup of coffee and it's time to fight a giant pink jellyfish....
@@MaryRohwer Hahahahaha
Don’t like it. Can’t imagine anyone does.
I do
@@randomcharacter6501Sorry to hear that. Get well soon!
I do. It's not the best suit, but I like it, especially because it's partially inspired by the suit from New 52 era
@@GiovanniAlckmimRusso Well the new 52 suit must’ve looked like shit then, because this does. Lines all over it, weird neckline etc. Nope, not for me.
If I'm sorry to burst you a little echo chamber. But the majority of people actually like it.
Henry Cavil was so good in this role. I would have loved to see him really dive into a Clark Kent role where he can smile, smirk, make jokes, and act like a bit of a nerd. Dude would have killed at that.
This dude as Supes, looks as depressed as the suit hes wearing.
Hired Stanley Anvil instead of Henry Cavil
That one edit of superman looking clean and bright light makes it infinitely better
I remember the days when Clark Kent would step into a phone booth and instantaneously step back out as Superman, not put his boots on like I do when going to my factory job.
Maybe we have to put into account how fast Superman usually changes clothes. In the olden days he literally does it in his superspeed, so this still only shows a blink of an eye. Then his face probably shows decisiveness, focus and awareness of the importance of what lies ahead. A second later he will already be fighting this giant alien eyeball of death ...
This discussion reminds me of the first official photo of Jared Leto as Joker.
Heath Ledger in TDK is UNMATCHED, IMO
He looks like he was interrupted from a nap. Screaming "what the hell" under his breath.
Honestly, that'd be kind of fun as a plot device.
Superman does actually sleep, and it'd be fun for him to wake up at 4:00 am to the sound of space lasers and mumble about it. "God... I didn't even get to bed until 1:00 am. What the heck, man?"
Yeah it looked a little hastily photoshopped but I dug the costume. I think we need to give these guys a little slack for throwing one out to the fans.
I just want a Superman movie where he goes around being a sweetheart and he doesn’t have to stop the end of the world like in every movie.
The first thing I thought of when I saw this image was that shot in The Last Jedi where Rose and Finn are moaning about how to "win" while a giant laser destroys the resistance base in the background.
