Honestly, I kinda just can’t believe we’re seeing actual stuff from the DCU. Like, I know we have that one Creature Commandos image, and we’ve had plenty of news, but to see something this real and tangible is really exciting.
As for the suit itself, I think it’s alright. It’s growing on me the more I see it. Love the hair though.

@@CoyJandreau 2:40 the last time we saw trunks on Superman was on Superman Lois when they did a flashback scene in the original suit his mom made for him.
Before that was Brandon Routh playing Kingdom Come Superman on the CW Crisis on Infinite Earth's miniseries
Superman Returns and Routh were definitely underrated. Still one of my favorite comic superhero films.
I never understood all the hate that movie got I actually thought it was good and it kinda had the feel of the Christopher Reeves superman movies

Exactly what I also think, this suit doesn't look like it is gonna be the main Superman suit for entire DCU films because you see how it looks compared to previous live-action suits and even in the comics. He'll most likely have a different suit that is going to be more similar to what we're familiar with. Not so sure if it'll happen in the first film but I think it will.
People think Superman must always be happy and smiling. I like to see him pissed off/tired he must to deal with another villain today again. He is allowed to feel basic human feelings.

It seems this photo reveals the tone of the movie. Superman starts in the movie feeling he's one of many superheroes... his taking his time putting his suit, maybe because the kame kame ha in the backround is being managed by the authority. But at the end of the movie, he will find the spark that makes him SUPERMAN and will become the luminous hero we already know and love. His lower body is iluminated and his upper body is darkened... from the damage of previous fights. That gives the message that his roots, his values are of superman but we will see his heart conflicted in this movie and him finding a way to heal and grow.
I don't like the excessive lines and panels on the suit but hopefully it looks better in the movie i widh the colours were brighter as well

I agree with most about the look being a "put my boots on and go to work", but I also immediately got something much larger from that which I haven't seen others say. He looks like the true meaning of a hero. It immediately reminded me of the World Trade Center 9/11 responders. To me, the battle damage, dirt, and/or scorching on the suit tells me he has been THROUGH IT, it's been rough, and after perhaps a moment's rest, he has to get back to it. In a word, it gives me the vibe of a true hero being - RESOLUTE.
I dig the costume! I think this is a great reveal. Some people point at the seeming lack of urgency with such a devastating event going on in the background (and I get that!), but, to me, it's just a cool image, more than a realistic moment in the film. We shall see! Regardless, while I am an old fashioned traditional Supes kinda guy, I like the design of the suit. It's got embellishments, but they feel realistic, to me. The seams look more like they're being strengthened by the designs, rather than having linework for no reason other than style. The folds and lack of an extreme tight fit is different - but I am thinking that it will more often be well-fitting and that this image shows him slumping and perhaps even the suit isn't fully adjusted yet, as he is just getting ready. Perhaps a quick 'Picard maneuver' can fix it.

Great video as always Coy! I want to share my experiece on this, the first time i saw the suit it left me with the feeling of confusion, i don’t know how to react to it, i had mixed feeling about it and i still had it untill now, but now i realize that i think maybe i got too excited about this and my hope for James to get everything right is high because of all the stuff regarding superman or dcu that James put out on social media, every update give me hope of like okay they will do it right this time, but then i saw this reveal i’m not gonna lie i feel a little bit let down by it and now i think i will down all my expectation or hope on this and just wait and see what James and the team made.
U think Gunn would release that photo, and it be like the last shot of the movie? That's my guess, a tease of brainiac for the last shot of the movie with a tired supes putting his boots back on after just taking them off.

I think people are reading too much into it. To me that shot reads as the actor pulling his boots on before he goes to shoot a scene and someone on set snapping a pic, which James Gunn liked and chose to post online, rather than a posed image. It's David, not Superman. I'm sure in the movie things will be shot to look more flawless. Like no riding up of the collar and so on. There will be multiple suits that move in different ways depending on the scene.
Def multiple suits! Def just a cheeky still before they film outside or something and paparazzi means some. Still fun to theorize but people DO need to realize everything you said

The green looks like Green Lantern flying in. My take is that Superman was in a fight with this thing. Got hit really hard -- that's why the suit is so scuffed up. And Green Lantern is coming to help.

It’s fresh in its old school workman-like qualities, yet includes classic Supes elements we’ve not seen a while like the trunks, big yellow shield, brighter blue. Yet it’s very early 20th century vibe with the hair and boots, and kind of fits if the start of the movie is set in a “golden age”, jsa and all, before presumably Supes steps up and ushers in a new (silver) age, with his JLA (and presumably a change to a more silver age costume).

I believe the pink sphere in the picture is Solaris. Gunn is inspired by All Star Superman: I believe Solaris was one of the villains in All Star Superman. Solaris has injured Superman and have blocked the yellow sun while fighting Superman; this is wear the damage on suit came from. I see a green light striking Solaris in the picture as well. Superman may be injured and weaken from the first fight. Green Lantern and others are distracting Solaris while Superman recovers. Solaris is overcoming the other heroes and weakened, Clark Kent witnesses they need his help. They need Superman.
⭐️ In this picture, a weakened Superman is putting on his boots for round 2, he beaten and injured but he is preparing suit back up to fight Solaris, who is blocking the sun, all odds are against Clark but he is the beacon of hope; he is Superman. Now in this photo Superman is preparing to give his all to save the other heroes and the world.

I'm in the same "don't love it but don't hate it" boat. I always had a soft spot for the New 52 costume (especially seeing Jim Lee draw it) so I do like that influence as well as the Alex Ross symbol. I do want the suit to have more of a tight fit look but I guess we have to wait and see. I'm really hoping the cape has the yellow S on the back.

I like it, I do agree we need to see more of it, especially in motion. I like the different aspects from other Superman costumes, like with Alex Ross as well as the New 52. I think it's bold and to make it different especially from past film versions I think is interesting. Definitely make more videos as we get more information

My prediction on what the story will be about; the reason why I think there are so many superheroes in the movie is that the film will ask “What makes Superman stand out?” I think this young Superman will struggle to find his uniqueness amongst all of these other superheroes which is parallel to real life. A lot of them can fly, have super strength, and shoot lasers or whatever; most are more popular than Superman. Perhaps this Superman is a little down because he’s feeling purposeless since there are already other superheroes doing his job. Hopefully this movie will successfully answer the question that was brought up in Superman Returns, “Why does the world need Superman?” Superman Returns’ answer was, “Because he can solve problems with his superpowers that normal people can’t.” He’s more than just his powers. Hopefully the movie will be about that. Stay optimistic.

Its not just the picture, its the way Coy has described it, if you want to know why it looks like it does, then Coy is your man. Saw a video saying the suit looks like it is the same material as the Guardians suits. The only criticism i have is that the suit looks a bit crunched up around the shoulders maybe from the type of material used. Cavill was a favourite and not allowed to finish his run so will be interesting to see how this Superman goes. Reeve was my original and i grew up with that.

Personally, I've always felt like Supe's suit is the definition of a benchmark for superhero costumes, so it makes sense that it's kind of middle of the road, it's the suit all other suits get held up to, because it's iconic. You can be better than Superman's, you can be worse than Superman's, but you can never say it's not definitively Superhero. Plus, Clark's a humble dude, middle of the road suits him just fine.

Coy...do you think the suit thickness and fit in the shoulders is to hide the fact that Corenswet isn't fully buffed out yet? Maybe as he gets bigger they'll adjust? He has buffed some but who knows what the target size is..?
Oh they’ll have SO many costumes on set for all purposes. The suit might get tweaked in post or this is story based but it’s unlikely to be build based

I am very interested, intrigued and more understanding on the potential reasoning of using Kingdom Come Superman Symbol! I like the suit, I understand the negatives. For me the negatives would have been less than if the first picture was in a Super Hero pose but I like that it isn’t. We usually see superheroes fight villains, superheroes posing heroically after they save the world. I like that this picture shows more of the preparation portion of being a superhero while it gave more of a chance to see faults of the suit in personal opinions.
I really hope it is Brainiac, so calculating and tech base. But I see how Parasite could be easier to pull off as it could be a potential creation of Lex Luthor.

@@CoyJandreau understandable; I was just curious if there could have been more to using the Kingdom Come Symbol. The Kingdom Come Symbol still looks like a symbol while the S is always iconic
I'm curious how it'll look in film, once it's had the touchups that will come with the finished product. I remember years ago when stills from Dark Knight Rises came out of BAtman and Bane fighting, but because they were taken on set, the suit looked kind of rubbery? Like you could see the chest piece kind of flapping in the movements in the still, but it looked tight and form fitting in the final picture just fine.

What do you want see from X-Men 97's last 2 eps the most? Maybe we could get Dr. Doom as the animated 90s show overarching villain, like his menacing scenes when he steals Silver Surfers powers in the last episode of FF 94, and in the Spiderman Secret Wars.
I like that this S-shield looks better than the straight skinny bar of KC. I hated the KC shield. This one has different widths for the top bar that tapers down and the bottom bar that tapers up. KC shield was all the same thickness except for the middle bar. I'm digging the look the more I look at it. Supes looks like he got roughed up and is suiting back up to get back into the fray.
Absolutely love the suit! Really hoping it’s brighter for most of the movie and it’s just battle damaged at this point. So hyped to see David’s Supes fly it’s gonna be something special!

@@CoyJandreau it’s what made me love Superman. I wasn’t a fan before Henry Cavill but that still felt hallow. I was a fan of Tyler’s from Teen Wolf and a fan of Bitisie (Lois) from Grimm so I gave it a chance and the show is spectacular. I feel you will love it.
Compare this scene from Henry Cavil Superman at the post credits scene of Black Adam. The difference is night and day tbh, the suit and the whole look of Superman was just perfection in that scene and Cavil nailed it. Too bad we'll never see him again as Superman
