@@blade7y156 I don't want to experience Gotham I just wanna watch a movie

The problem I have is when movies / shows are really low that you can’t hear them and then an action scene blows your speakers at the same volume. Watching movies at night when the kids are asleep are nearly impossible. Normal talking sounds like whispers so you turn it up a bit then a car explodes in the movie and then so does the TV irl. (Edited for grammar)
Pro tip if you store your files on PC in a totally definitely legitimate manner:
The program BOX4 is what I use to process audio and normalize my entire library, I don't even have to touch the volume between different shows any more let alone between scenes.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks that 🤦♀️

Fun fact: This dark movie trend started when digital cameras were used to shoot movies. These cameras tend to work better in darkness when compared to their analog counterpart. A few years later and the look become the norm.
Well, given that the pendulum swung from MAXIMUM LENS FLARE!!!! to minimum lumens, all we need to do is get someone to dampen the oscillations and we can finally SEE again.
I thought it started because of the dark angst-y trend of the early 2000s. Everything had to be emo and dark cause it's 'deep'.

What they really could have done was drape the camera in a blackout curtain and then kill all the lights in the entire city while filming during a new moon. Then you would truly be sufficiently dark.

I always wondered if the actors ever tripped and fell due to how dark the dang scenes were xD
0:50 I knew he was going to trip and fall at some point and even when he did it caught me off guard. That just shows you how dark it is lol.
All of my marvel movie experiences have come from a small little tv in a room with way too much natural light. Same with Star Wars. Half of the scenes make me want to throw something because there is NO LIGHTING WHATSOEVER. The Kenobi series really exposed this problem.
Edit: And if you REALLY want to have a bad time, try and watch DC movies on my small TV. The Dark Knight trilogy was basically just a pitch black screen on my TV 😂
they have sufficient set lighting but the image's colour, contrast, and brightness is determined manually by the one who did the video editor. It is because their digital camera output "RAW" images and they had to manually do colour grading according to the video editor's (or director's) preference, or they are simply noob & use wrong settings.
It might not be the case for you but the TV can have a huge impact on this..I used to have a cheap/old one and the moment the scene was dark, I couldn't see anything, even with the lights off.
If you had trouble watching Marvel, don't even venture into DC...
Except for Shazam. That one's alright.
Yeah if you think Marvel movies are dark then dc movies are jet black.i literary coudnt see Batman. In. Several shots of dark knight
wtf ??? Well I guess that is your TVs fault then, I have never came across anyone complaining about lighting in Marvel films, that is a constant complain in DC films though.
If you are having brightness problem with Marvel films that is definitely your TVs fault, lol.
This is so true. I can’t stand watching shows or movies anymore because you can’t see shit. Seriously you can’t. And god forbid the light from your room or outside or from your iPhone shines near the tv then you really can’t see shit because it makes it darker somehow. It’s insane. 😂😂

This is literally how I felt about, "The Terminal List". We kept trying to adjust our TV to find out....this is how they filmed the damn thing. Great skit....you really feel as though the director must have been in a dark place themselves to film the scenes this way. No other explanation makes sense to me.
So much depth. Next time we should get rid of the camera
I understand why you feel that way about The Terminal List...but I didn't feel it was overly used. But yeah there were a couple of times it was a bit much. I sort of appreciated it's affect when it was used as foreshadowing leading to the discovery of his wife and child along with his return to the house in despair. But the scene blowing up his commanding officer...I just didn't get why that had been shot so dark.
@@BWolf00 I hear you but, I actually hate that effect immensely. I'm a big fan of being able to see the details in a scene. I feel they can still show darkness without making it pitch black to the point of not know who is who, what is what, etc. Not a fan. xo
@@copiouscareerist While I was defending The Terminal List there was another pointless blacked out scene. When Commander Cox drowned tied to the log when it forced him under the water. You can physically feel the pain in Steven's soul when he walks up to the camera to bring down the lid over the lens lol
“Oh that darkness- it just.. shows the state of the character. I love it”
I was wheezing the whole day
The cousin to this is action scenes, where they have 10 cuts to different angles for every swing and an obscene amount of camera shake.. and maybe throw in a cut to what other important characters are doing at the time too, even if they're not even in the same scene/location
As cheesy as they were, this was where old westerns and kung fu movies excelled. You could follow the progression of the fight easily and see the "tactics" at play. IMO they slowed it down a little too much, but at least people won't get vertigo in the theaters or have no idea what's going on during a long string of fights.
I couldn't stop laughing 🤣 that director is seeing things 🤣🤣🤣
Omg you are super funny! The look on the light guys face 🤣. Perfect!
Back in the day when our kids were almost 2, we went to see a double feature of the first Pirates of the Caribbean and Nemo at the drive in. The only scene I remember in the first movie was when they were finally out in the open ocean…only for them to go back inside a cave. Must have been this same director. 🤣
potc looks fine wdym
This happened to me with Stranger Things, too. Even some interviews with the actors reacting have Joseph Quinn leaning forwards and squinting all the time. Can relate. 😅
And in GoT, and some other shows / movies, The Expanse was often underlit as well ... Batman wasn't the worst case of this trend :(
Directors tend to forget all of us don't own oled screens, it became even worse since LCDs have universally bad contrast ratios compared to most of the good old CRTs, some of them are even pedantic saying people should not watch it on phones/tablets (they might not be completely wrong on this one though) or that people don't know how to set up contrast on their TV when the technology is deeply flawed in itself.
It could be argued for movies that they might at least look good in theaters, but I remember for SOLO some only used 1 of the 2 bulbs in their projectors because these things aren't cheap and have a limited life expectancy, people could barely see what happened on screens in lots of scenes.
God these types of film videos always make me piss myself please do more 😂
