On this episode of Talk About Games we discuss the new game Unruly Heroes available now for PC, XBOX One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
Ah, Journey to the West, my all time favorite tale. To play as Sun Wukong/Monkey, Zhu Bajie/Pigsy, Xuanzang/Tripitaka, and Sha Wujing/Sandy... I might actually check this game out.
the imitate mechanic was in Abe's Odyssey before. it's probably inspired from that.

It looks heavily inspired by Abe and Trine which is not a bad thing at all.
Another game based on the Journey to the West. Saiyuki on ps1 was good, as well as enslaved on ps3. Gonna check this one out.
Lol, I still haven't finished my Saiyuki playthrough which I have kept on hold for months now. Thanks for reminding me of that awesome game.

Enslaved is good? I borrowed it from a buddy and it still sits on my shelf unplayed. Should I finally get around to it?

Rayman legends+Trine and if it has the Lost Vikings style puzzles as well just makes this game super sweet!
Don't know if anyone said it already but, just for the record, Dragon Ball Z is not based on journey to the west. The original Dragon Ball series is the one that was inspired by journey to the west.
Correction: Dragonball, as in the first one which was slightly retconned was the one that is based on Journey to the West. Dragonball Z, not so much.
Either way the manga is called Dragonball not DBZ which includes DBZ material so technically he's right. Plus in Z vegeta turned into a big monkey and still had them characters.

What's with all the down votes? They mention in the title it's sponsored, no ones annoying or overbearing, and the games looks like it actually good, like something that would be worth sponsoring. It has 90% on Steam. So what's peoples problem?
If I had to guess it's because 90% of viewers are here for either JUST avgn or they just want to see retro games. So...disliked because they want james rolfe or disliked cause it isn't retro

Saw this in the store, glad to see you two reviewing it and giving us the information.
The game looks fine but I am always weirded out by characters changing the colour of their skin. I get the colour palette change thing for differentiation purposes but I think it should only apply to their attire, not the skin and beard etc. It's not like the first game to do that but still, I hope game developers will stop doing that.

Wukong seems to be following me around ever since lol. He's in that. He's also in dota, rwby, smite, and now this. One of these days he wi be in my epitath where its says smashed by wukongs ruyi jingu bang (his staff) just like nobodyvwill ever let enthem rightly go because of skaligrim and how he made a joke about the grim pommeler or the rightly reaper will be in his epitath.
I am digging seeing the evolution of Ryan. Dude is looking healthier and spiffy af. These guys work well off each other and this game looks very interesting!!

Looks very cool, both visually and gameplay wise. Getting a bit of a Rayman meets Lost Vikings vibe from this one.
I saw the trailer for this in Nintendo's latest indies showcase, the art style and Chinese mythology influence immediately got me interested. Knowing these guys worked on Rayman and Valiant Hearts makes it a definite buy.

Any character that is/based on the Monkey King is cool in my book.
This game looks cool, but I hope it will also be released on GOG.
The piece of the animation from 0:48 to 0:53 reminds me of the flower scene from the movie Pink Floyd: The Wall.

Funny that you mentioned Secret of Mana 2 (Seiken Densetsu 3). That game is awesome too and deserves to be played until the end. Maybe make a James and Mike and Ryan Monday with SoM 1 or 2? There is a Rom Hack so that you can play SoM 2 with 3 people.
Its the action version of the psx version Saiyuki journey to west.
To be fair to James, I'm sure he's the kind of guy who would only take money to make a positive review video about a game if he actually liked it.

Yeah I mean, platformer-wise, nothing hasn't been made before.
I loved everything you mentioned, but man I HATED the jumping and leaping, for some reason made the game much much less appealing for me.
It is a bit floaty, but it fits the game so it doesnt feel off or anything.

I respect Mike but i don't understand why he does skip all the cutscenes and animations in retro games. Mostly they are very cool and even if you don't like cutscenes..if you like a game, you fully appreciate it and want to see those stuff. I get it gameplay is the most imprtant, sure....but Mike aren't ou a person who fully want to embrace the fantasy a game offers? I don't understand it.
Lamech I like cut scenes sometimes. It depends how it’s presented and each game is different

Not really. It looks like an indie title. Mobile games can't have that complex of controls without having buttons on screen for the player to tap.
