I've heard that!! Shrimp was telling me about it (he's been playing since 1.0). I recently watched a video of someone who filmed up until the very last moment before they shut the servers off for 1.0. It was so wild! The way Answers rang out over everyone as the "calamity" hit just like it did during The Final Days for the Ancients. So eerie and beautiful. Made playing through EW during the rising event so much better than I could ask for me.....each time walking into a starting zone and Answers playing. Gah makes me wish I had known about ffxiv back when 1.0 was out.
For some more context to the 1.0 trailer. It showcased some the combat that was planned for the game, like stepping on the ice pillars to gain a critical advantage, or the buffing of the Archer's(Derplander/MC) arrow with fire magic. When YoshiP took over all of that was scrapped for the Job system. But some legacy holdovers were still present until 3.0. Such as Bard being a a really good healer (Miqo casting spell on Derplander in 2.0 video) and having the healer LB3. Edit: also the 3.0 trailer has a major screw up. They used the wrong dragon. It was supposed to be Nidhogg, not Hraesvalgr.
iirc i think the reason they used Hraesvelgr models for the HW trailer is because at that point, they hadn't quite finished the Nidhogg model, but had the Hraesvelgr one. Could be wrong, I just remember being told something along those lines.
Always love watching people react to these trailers. Fun Fact: In the ARR cinematic, the reason they do such a focus and closeup on the chocobo that Ardbert summons is because it is the Legacy Chocobo with the Legacy mark on its beak, which is one of the things players got as thanks for sticking through 1.0. They also received it as a tattoo on their character's back.
Ooo I didn't know about the legacy chocobo! My friend I play with has the legacy tattoo on their character which is so cool! Wish I could say I've been playing that long, but I'm excited to have picked up the game and ready for the next 10 years to come!
In case no one elaborated on the Endwalker song thing (it's not spoilers) if you listen to the music itself as well as the lyrics, and ignore the talking/voice overs, you'll hear the songs from the past expansions (Heavensward when Estinian is shown, Shadowbringers when we see G'raha, etc)
No worries on spoilers, I did my final walk already and finally starting Post EW :D I did pick up on that my second time listening to the song. I really love how they did that! Was such a nice touch
I didn't hear him say Vitra 😭 And to be fair we just finished up quests involving Tiamat... If you watch my Endwalker Trailer Analysis & Theory Crafting video where I watch the trailer a second time and more slowed down picking it apart I actually mention that it was brought to my attention the dragon is Vitra not Tiamat.
So the reason why they wiped to Thancred just before they showed Zenos was because the CG trailer came out before 5.55, so we were chomping at the bit to see what Zenos was wielding because we knew he was one of the new jobs but we didn't know what it was going to be... so naturally they decided to tease us and make us go "OH COME ON!" with that move. XD (Also I'm guessing you did eventually figure out what they did with the music for Footfalls?)
Nice!! Reaper is a lot of fun!! I played each expansion the RP way and I'm so glad I did. It created a really immersive experience for my first play through.

I played Samurai from heavensward all the way through Endwalker but I picked up Reaper to level and now that is my new favorite class!
