  • Tesco unveils UK's first interactive virtual grocery store at Gatwick.
Coming home from holiday is bad enough, without the added hassle of returning to an empty fridge. Tesco is revealing a new solution, by opening the UK's first interactive virtual grocery store in Gatwick's North Terminal.

it's not just for people on the go! it can be used for people who don't wanna go out, sick, disable, many different reasons they need this in the USA.

Just do it all in the app. No need for standing around in front of a screen with everyone watching. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but it was conceived. Pus, they had already done this in rail stations in Korea a year earlier.

Nice you are working on this, but i want to know one thing, can't we just use the grocery apps to buy the stuff and it probably get delivered. It save the cost of your building the fridges. Or you can do one thing actually for those who are urgent to know the grocery at airport you can provide your technology but not using the phone just single click and image recognition that directly links of user account or credit that can be used to buy the product. That can be fascinating but this, in this we have to install the app then probably link it with the bank account and then scanning the items really, we don't have time to do lot of things, people in the airport are busy. You can also make a offer machine that can help the user to earn the offers from your machine. So, be safe hope you can improve it. Thankyou.

What is the difference between going into the online shop using URL or mCommerce App and buying just like we always do?

And nobody was interested at that airport either, or would be today. It's only attractive when accomplished on your own personal screen, either on a handheld, laptop, or desktop. Not on a big display in the middle of a public gathering place.

*From a hygiene point of view you MUST have hand gel next to these screens or they will quickly be a breeding ground for flu and colds. There should be a reminder to gel your hands after using the touch pad*.

Google map is easy to use and it tells you where you are unlike a physical map :S So basically its about cutting out the fuss and making everything simple and that is exactly what the technology is doing now :P Mostly Everything will be done using technology and you can see it even today for example shopping, you forgot to buy something thanks to tech you don't have to go back to the store instead you can just browse your smartphone and add to basket/Buy whatever you forgot :) so its all good

why would you want to use the interactive board when you don't need it and is probably easier doing it straight from your phone.

We can simply order from an app anywhere. For example: Bigbasket, Dmart, etc, in Mumbai. What's the use of this virtual grocery ?

At the time, mobile phone UIs were pretty bad and people's adoption of doing everything on mobile was still nascent. Things were different almost 10 years later when you commented and definitely now in 2023.

You have to put things into perspective. Google Maps is simply an extension of a real map, a real map was an evolution of navigating by the stars and so on. Things evolve and change as a natural part of life. Dependancy on anything isn't good though I agree :)

So you order before you go and book your delivery slot. What happens if you're delayed or most probably, the delivery doesn't turn up in the allocated time? Are you going to wait 3 hours for a brew? Get to the local shop on your way home from the airport. How lazy!

What ever happened to the good old days where you drive to the store and buy groceries. People are becoming lazy. I don't know about you but I still do it the old fashioned way. I have never once used a grocery delivery service and I probably never will.

What a waste of money. If people are shopping with their phones then surely its using mobile data (internet) so why dont they just shop online using the app??? Makes no sense. And why would I want to stand at a sign and scan off shopping. ...... I'm sorry but what happens when more than one person wants to shop. And one wants to add cheese and the other person wants to add lynxx deodrant lol "I was here firsttttt..I'm tellinggg!"

I am wondering why can't just shop on the cell? You need to open the app anyway right? This whole capitalism world is just trying to make you buy buy buy all the time, even for the things you don't need.
