This album represents the Weeknd's own personal hell and his own life after hours. This new trilogy would be Abel's Divine Comedy as he goes though hell, purgatory and heaven. After his break up with Selena Gomez he got back to his old ways as himself said in his previous album My dear melancholy, which could work as a prologue to this one. So here he feels alone again at the beginning but he realizes that it's way too late for him because he is the hardest to love but encourages his ex lover not to be scared to live again. After that, he knows that Los Angeles will be the end of him because it's literally hell with flashing lights so he decides to escape from there, but in the way, because of his addictions and bad decisions like drugs, he ends up in a bad situation where he wishes that his girl was by his side helping him because he needs her. For me that's his personal hell, that's why he's wearing a red suit all the time (red represents hell). At the end he's so scared and damaged that he dies or kill himself (I'm not sure), as you can hear in until I bleed out, the Vegas casino machines (that's where the album is set in the videos) turn into the sound of his heart stopping at the end of the album. So dawn fm is its direct sequel starting with Abel waking up in purgatory, which he has said to imagine as a highway where you can't go forward, but you can listen to dawn fm which is the radio station that guides you through a painless transition to heaven. That's why he starts being a selfish and toxic person at the beginning of the album and finishes realizing that he's less than zero. So his next album, which will probably be named after live or afterlife, as he said in dawn FM's every angel is terrifying, will probably deal with him reaching happiness and being the person he always wanted to be. I love how your Dad associates the super poppy, super 80's tracks as Abel's "sound". Would be really funny to go straight into trilogy or Kiss Land from here. That dark industrial r&b sound is more what I think of when I think of his "sound" if there was one. Insane how successfully and eloquently he can just change up his whole sonic universe though!
Honestly the Trilogy/Kissland sound is probably what the vast majority of fans of his (myself included) consider "his sound". Maybe this is obvious, but it really goes to show just how much your perception of an artist can vary depending on what music of theirs you were introduced to first. Idk, its cool to think about.

Love this album and this reaction! It's so interesting to see someone listen to "In Your Eyes" and think of it as The Weeknd's core sound, as a long time fan I'd be so interested to see you guys go back and listen to his discography from the beginning starting with his 3 mixtapes "The Trilogy" to see how his sound has evolved over the last 10+ years
Amazing how your dad said stadium song for alone again, just saw him at the LA show first day, and got absolute chills with Alone Again. The whole stadium was shaking.
Man this album gives me chills everytime, it was early 2020, things were getting tough n this album just was a perfect match for all the feelings I was going thru, I’m reminiscing on this whole album rn, something about this one if really special. The trilogy is coming to perfection w every album!!!
Love how dad likes the production on Heartless not knowing that it was Metro Boomin, and then months later gets to actually know and appreciate Metro's production more when you guys reacted to Heroes & Villains
metro boomin product 3 songs in after hours which is Escape From LA, Heartless, and Faith all of them is a perfection, Heroes & Villians is perfect Metro is very talented and a perfect producer
I really love when people are surprised about The Weeknd's lyrics being dark because the always pay attention to the beat and think is fun or happy. Trilogy or Kiss Land would take them on a journey for sure. Kinda sad they didn't react to bonus tracks, certified bangers for sure
Not a single skip on the whole album, even the bonus tracks are fire. Idk if i heard a album this flawless in ages. When i first started listening, Track 1 ''Alone Again'' already did it for me. It is such a perfect opening for this masterpiece. Easily one of my favorite albums of all time.
This album is cold, dark, haunting, lonely. I am realizing this after 3 years of its release cause everytime i listen to it, it gets even darker. And its only recently that ive been going thru similar experiences.
Thank you for showing this album to your father! Your dad has amazingly keen ears and fantastic taste in music (noticed he said he likes Depeche Mode, yasss), and a very open mind. I was born in 1989, so like Abel (1990), the 80s feels both foreign and strangely familiar. Abel’s own interpretation of the 80s music is nostalgic, and incredibly inspiring. ‘After Hours’ is in the top 3 best albums ever to me personally. If my feelings could sing, they would sound like Abel’s lyrics and melody.
My favorite two songs on this album are Alone Again and Too Late I love the effects he uses on his voice and the production one thing Weeknd does is uses effects to make his voice sound more darker
“did he sing this with arianda” crying. new favorite quote 😭 but fr totally get Kevin ab the live performance with ariana and abel it’s so beautiful and always gives me goosebumps 🤧
I recently went to the weeknd's concert in Santa Clara and whenever any of these songs were sung I cried because this album just triggered so many emotions for me.
I listened to this album in lockdown and in the UK we had amazing weather that year so it was an amazing time where I was out cycling, playing football in my garden with my brothers and playing gta5 and fortnite with my mates without a care in the world, that time was incredible, this is definitely my favourite album in terms of liking every song, I can’t think of another album where every song is good like after hours
My girlfriend of 3 years broke up with me, right when this album hit. Timing couldn't be better, it is my all time favourite album, with one of my favourite songs of all time, "Snowchild". It really encapsulates being an adult figuring my place in this world while processing the pain we have been through so far and whether we should keep going on.
I don’t know if anyone has said this but good work on the audio with these videos. Music is clear, you guys are clear. I like the ratio of narration to music. 👍👍👍

@@phatrick original commenter the guy I’m tagging in this comment is a perfect example of a native English speaker who struggles much more than you. Please be kind to him as you can see he has a Patrick star pfp indicating his mental level to be very low
I bet if he went backwards down the albums he would have a massive appreciation for KL and Trilogy
Honestly the Trilogy/Kissland sound is probably what the vast majority of fans of his (myself included) consider "his sound". Maybe this is obvious, but it really goes to show just how much your perception of an artist can vary depending on what music of theirs you were introduced to first. Idk, its cool to think about.
kissland is imo his best produced album. really captures a whole world
@@lusilverrr Kiss Land is definitely my favorite album of his. One of my favorite albums of all time.
@@stelmaria-mx honestly it won’t be easy, the jump between BBTM and Kiss Land is a huge leap
Just saw The Weeknd live tonight, hands down the best concert I’ve ever seen, you guys gotta see him!
Same!
Same!!!!
There is no artist that perfectly encapsulates that cold wintery feeling like The Weeknd, and this album just exceeds at that in the best way possible
32:23 I think your dad missed the crazy attack of the beat there, one of the goddest things of the entire album! I wish he'd reacted by jumping high just like me when I first listened to After Hours, definitely my favourite track of the album 🔥
fr man why'd he talk lmao, that's the hardest thing on ah
For real
One of the best albums of the last 10 years to be honest, absolute masterpiece

As much as I love Dawn FM, This album has a special place in my heart. I remember listening to this album with my girl not too long after California went on lockdown. We pulled up to a lookout point above my city with Thai food and listened to this album start to finish. Such a cohesive and cinematic album. Can't wait for his show in LA at SoFi!
❤
That’s so cute
FINALLY! can’t wait for the rest of his discography, please do his older stuff next !
Do you know if they did KL?

FR I'm here for Dad x Weeknd Reactions!!!! 🙏🏽👌🏽
I seriously can’t wait for your dad to hear the Trilogy album! Its completely different than his new stuff.
I wouldn’t say it’s completely different from this.
This has a more modern polished R&B while the older stuff is more grimy and gross
@@JD-jz5gu this is more a pop album than an rnb album, it’s very different
@@ITSRAF1 dark pop*
@@ITSRAF1 what? it’s definitely not a pop album.
There are some pop songs, sure, but I think there’s more R&B than pop here.
@@ITSRAF1 escape from LA, After Hours, Until I bleed out, and Snowchild are all completely R&B while another bit of the album (faith, alone again, too late, heartless repeat after me are all a polished R&B dark pop hybrid while the rest are all 80s style songs
Beautiful album I'm glad he got to hear this
this album was the one that made me a fan of The Weeknd, especially the closer track. absolutely beautiful
until i bleed out is an INSANE song
its growing to be my favorite weeknd album
The Trilogy still clears for me
The Weeknd songs will never get old.
Especially love when he makes songs with a lullaby vibe mixed with airy synths .... all instant classics ...

Have to do Trilogy in it's order, truly a masterpiece.
Trilogy is like three acts of a movie and Kiss Land is the absolutely phenomenal Epilogue
This album has such a place in my heart & I always find it interesting that the first song is titled Alone Again since it’s came out around the beginning of COVID. Spending so much time alone listening to this album on repeat to get me through that weird time when everything seemed to be going in some strange circle. I’m so glad I was able to see him perform this summer finally

One of my favorite albums of all time, production is on another level
I love the respect snowchild gets, probably my favorite track off this amazing project W video
repeat after me is easily a 10/10 track amazing production and a legendary interlude
finallyyyy someone says it
Yeah dude. That's the one song I keep coming back to. I love that it's slept on.
One of his best albums, hopefully you get to listen to the weeknds beginning roots through trilogy.
Kevins reaction to the saxophone at 26:14 was hilarious he sounded like a little kid meeting his hero
excited outta this world for this one 😭 hope u both r doing well, sending love ofc 🤍
This album changed my life, really. It was my best friend during my depression and anxiety period. Art is so powerful
So glad yall did this one, this album is by far my fave one, you should do My Dear Melancholy, next, it might be short but god damn its good.
One of the best albums of the modern era
The dissection of the song Snowchild and the emotions that it gave Kevin is exactly what I feel each time I listen to it. And seeing him connect to music in the way that I sometimes do is the exact reason I subscribed to this channel. Love this channels content!
The Weeknd is the best storyteller of all time. Everything is so well put and the creativity is off the roof. the music videos align well. like i said The Weeknd is the best storyteller of all time.
Absolutely love this album, my favourite by Abel and honestly it’s in my top 10
The After Hours/Til Dawn tour was incredible. Those 2 albums are insanely beautiful
went last summer in washington, loved it
love to see the Snowchild appreciation. Definitely up there with my favorites from the weeknd
I really love your dad because he is so insightful in his first listen he could summarize what it feel for me on many tries of listening
Waching you from Ethiopia. Waching my fellow Ethiopian Abel at thise big makes me so proud. Thank you guys
heartless is #1. been listening to it nonstop since 2020.
YES, I WAS JUST LISTENING TO THIS ALBUM TODAY, I CAN TELL BEFORE I START YOUR DAD WILL LOVE THIS
This album is cold, dark, haunting, lonely. I am realizing this after 3 years of its release cause everytime i listen to it, it gets even darker. And its only recently that ive been going thru similar experiences.
One of the greatest albums of all checks all boxes elite intro, Outro, Interlude, great album cuts, multiple hits, Influential
The timing when it released also… couldnt of been more perfect
The amount of times Kevin has been in awe of The Weeknd’s vocals is amazing lol. It’s only right that he listens to Trilogy or Kissland!
trilogyy
@@saraipualani1465 both
been wanting this reaction for so long, thank you guys so much
Alone At Prom is another 80s themed album that you guys would love. Both After Hours and Alone At Prom have absolutely no skips
YESSSSS FINALLY! I BEEN WAITING FOR YOU GUYS TO REACT TO THISSSS!!!
This album got us through the lock downs!!!
My favorite two songs on this album are Alone Again and Too Late I love the effects he uses on his voice and the production one thing Weeknd does is uses effects to make his voice sound more darker
The same man !! 😎👌
I'm happy you liked Snowchild as much as I do. My personal fav from the album.
Bro I just got done with The Weeknd concert tonight in Arizona and it was the best show I’ve seen so far, literally so good
Such an iconic album, start to finish. One of those albums I wish my dad was alive to hear.
This is such perfect timing I just came back from his concert!
“did he sing this with arianda” crying. new favorite quote 😭
but fr totally get Kevin ab the live performance with ariana and abel it’s so beautiful and always gives me goosebumps 🤧
i’ve been waiting for this reaction for months
cannot wait for that house of balloon reaction and the mixtapes 🙏
been waiting on this one ❤️❤️
Seeing Blinding Lights performed live with 50k ppl singing along was a religious experience
Im jealous. He wil never come here in my country
10th June for me....I can't wait!
I recently went to the weeknd's concert in Santa Clara and whenever any of these songs were sung I cried because this album just triggered so many emotions for me.
His whole discography from beginning to end is a must now for this channel😭😭😭
So far it's end to beginning, but that works too. That's the way I listen to artists I haven't heard before.
The album I've been most eager for y'all to cover
10/10 album easy. Some of the best music i’ve ever heard.
Can't wait till you listen to rest of his albums!
This has just become my fav RUclips channel just by seeing Dads love and appreciation for Abel. XO ❤️
This is the most excited I've been for a video in a long time. I was just about to go to sleep (5am rn) but no, this is more important.
One of those albums that you listen to fully any time because it paints the picture in your head
I don’t know if anyone has said this but good work on the audio with these videos. Music is clear, you guys are clear. I like the ratio of narration to music. 👍👍👍

such an amazing album!!
Back in 2015. I use to not like Abel's music. Later around in 2020. I was working out, and heard a familiar voice playing on the speakers. It was Abel, singing 'Blinding Lights'. From that day, I discovered all that I have missed from Abel since 2015. 'After Hours' made me realize everything I've missed on, since then. I now enjoy all of his albums and tracks, on the daily.
i really love that yall have such a wide variety of artists you like!
