How we lived with our furniture in the 1950's and 60's is not necessarily how we use furniture today. Follow along as I rejuvenate this tired walnut mcm buffet and bring it back to life so it can live again in 2024!
Stunning !! So glad you put the original handles back on. They just belong on that hutch!!
Thank you. I agree, the handles just add that extra something! 🤩
What a stunning piece!
😊
This might possibly be the greatest piece of furniture I've ever seen in my life.
Jack, Seriously!!!!! 🤪
So glad you kept the twp pieces together. That is a stunning example of MCM. Nice job, too.
Yes, I subscribed.
Thanks so much. 😀
Was not a huge fan of MCM furniture. Appreciated it, but not a fan. However, I've seen a few makeovers here on RUclips, but you, my friend, have sold me!!!. Your work is simply beautiful! I absolutely love the hutch. I don't don't know what I've been missing about this style of furniture. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work!
Thanks so much! I discovered a love of mcm furniture because of its beautiful veneers and simple, timeless design. Glad you've come over to the dark side! 🤣
I love the cat ears on this hutch! Lovely job
Ha! Good description! 🤣
Beautiful love it with hutch on ❤❤
Thanks, I agree!
Gorgeous!!!
Thanks!😊
Hello my dear friend. I liked your work and your channel very much. You are very successful and thank you for sharing it with us. Best regards, greetings from Turkey
Thank you!!! 😉
It turned out gorgeous 😍 so much beauty hiding under the previous finish 😊
So glad you kept it together and also that you kept the original hardware on it albeit cleaned up. It looked perfect on it and I like the colour on the handles gives it a unique look.
The woman who purchased it was so happy to have the two pieces together!
I couldn’t separate them after seeing the finished pieces! 😆
Stunning piece. Please do not separate the buffet and the top, you made it look like new again! Happy to found your channel. Keep up the good work!
Thanks. I did keep it together! And the lady who bought it was over the moon for it!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!! that is so amazing, job well done, WOW!
WOW!!!! THANKS!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
YES!!!! GORGEOUSLY REDONE! Thanks for making me smile. I am hoping you can join Jay from Flipping Drawers next challenge. It will be all about MCM furniture. I am advocating for it big time!!!
Thanks! I'll have to check out the challenge!
Huge Gorgeous refinishing project! Love the music you chose! Also liked the inset video of real time sanding speed. Thanks for sharing how you removed the broken screw and all your tips and tricks!
Thanks, it definitely was a large one! I realize sometimes it's misleading when you see everything sped up!
That turned out really nice.
Thanks! 😊
That nutmeg color looks awesome! nice work!
Thanks. I think so too. 😄
Another great re-do Laur... keep 'em coming!
It turned out beautifully!
Thank-you! If I had room I would have kept it!😀
Beautifully done!
Thanks!😊
That Hutch is Really Something! Your Editing is Quite Nice. Your Verbal and Text Narratives are Well Placed and Informative. You tell a good Story on the Progression of the pieces from Beginning to End. Only Your Third Video? I'm Impressed!😃
Thanks for the kind words! Learning a new skill (video in this case!) is fun but scary too. I'm always second guessing my decisions but I guess with experience that will lessen. 😊
Beautiful piece, you did it justice....love it...Take care...cheers !!!
Thanks! 😊
I don't like hutches but I like that one! Holy smokes it's amazing.
Kinda my sentiments exactly! 😊
I watched a couple of your videos, but I didn’t realize that they were the only ones you had. You do such excellent work. This piece is gorgeous and I love the hardware. You will definitely be getting a lot more subscribers. One thing I like about your channel is the music. Keep it up.
Thanks a lot, I am pretty comfortable refinishing furniture for the most part, but making videos is a bit scary! 😳
Beautiful job on this redo!! And good job getting all these subscribers! That's amazing to me - I admit, after three years I just reached ~900 subs. Go girl!! 😀
I must admit I am amazed at how many subscribers have signed up. And thanks so much for the words of encouragement. 😄
LOVELY!
Thanks!😊
Gorgeous job 😊
Thanks! ☺
So good. Do it two times a week and the channel will blow up. ❤
Thanks. I wish I could. I do this part time so one every two weeks is all I can manage! 😏
I know❤
Really nice. One piece was definitely the best choice. Only change I would suggest is new hardware. Hardware with some style would really up the look.
Thanks so much, I decided to leave the hardware because it was original to the piece and in really good shape, and I kinda liked it! 😉
amazing!
Gorgeous! It was better with the top part on!
I thought so too!😊
Very nice
Thank-you ☺️
Nice one
Thanks! 😀
Well done! Bet it didn’t look that good on the showroom floor sixty years ago.
🤣🤣🤣 Thanks!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
😍😍😍
☺☺☺
Hi,
Nice job! The turquoise inlay on the handles and knobs is so unique. Are you a big fan of mid century modern?
Thanks
I personally love the handles! And I L-O-V-E mid century furniture. So much that when I got into furniture refinishing as a hobby I decided I would only do MCM pieces!
@@mcmredo Awesome. I fell in love with mid century when I was 15 years old after watching an episode of Bewitched. Good luck with your channel.
😍🥰
👏👏👏
Nice
🙏
So beautiful! What color gel stain did you use?
Thanks, I forgot to mention, it was General Finishes "Nutmeg". 😆
@@mcmredoThank you! Seems like nutmeg is a popular choice. I’ll have to try it out.
The broken screw under the hinge! $#@&!😂
You should know!!! 🤣🤣🤣
EZ out a much simpler solution
I will have to look into it. Sometimes you just have to use what ya got! 🤣
This is beautiful, but I’m not a fan of the green hardware. The new finish is gorgeous, and I love the wood grain.
I think you either love or hate the green hardware! It is original to the piece. Definitely a statement! The wood grain on the walnut is beautiful it was just hiding under toners and old lacquer! 😂
I came to say it looks like a gem in the handles. I can not think of a better use for turquoise. I had been thinking about the stone ring I got in Yellowstone National Park when I was ten years old. It is stolen a long time ago but we have an importers store in our tiny mountain town of Ce Elum that has turquoise. I don't want to wear it but if it is in furniture hardware cool. The town over has a local stone namesake Ellensburg Blues that would be great.
Beautiful. Please, no offence but Would love to just hear the workshop noises and your talking than the piano lounge music.
No offence taken!😏
Well….I enjoy the presentation, piano and voice over. A good balance. Very nice work. And yes patience is key to refinishing.
@@darrylkenes7424 Thanks, I am still on a big learning curve with the video production, but like anything practice makes perfect! (or better at least!)
I appreciate the piano music when it overlay the sound of the scraping. I have to fast forward through the parts that are just scraping as it hits me neurologically.
That means said it is a beautiful piece and you did a great job.
I like the voice over.
I have to agree I’m afraid to say but the music almost made me turn off the video!
Sorry to hear 😞 that! I've had comments about it from both ends! Some people like it some people hate it!
Would love to hear your beautiful voice do commentary.
