No. a remake would ruin it. Leave it the fuck alone. If you want something close to a sequel to Nightmare Creatures the indie horror series Horryefieing exists in the same universe, uses similar atmosphere and music style and also has Nadia officially in the story and is filled with hundreds of references to these games. Horryefieing is a first person horror though.
I think so too. The story written in the game’s manual is interesting enough for a cool narrative for the games and it’s odd that’s it’s almost non existent in the actual games or is just 5% story 95% gameplay. It should be 50/50.
It's pretty slow compared to the first. I just played some of the first and yeah it's much faster even though it can get chaotic. Controls and graphics are better in part 2 though, just gets repetitive as hell and there are less combos you can do haha. Fatalities are cool though. I do prefer part 1. Thanks for watching! :)
it was planned for the game to have a second playable female character, she appeared in the cutscenes during gameplay. also, 50% of content was cut off from the final release, 5 huge levels after the Paris level were meant to be in the game but they were excluded making the game shorter. there was a 3rd attack combo before they chose to remove it due to ps1 reaching its full memory capacity causing the game to crash
Yeah it seemed like Rachel should've been playable, and the first game had several more combos compared to this one. I had a feeling the game wasn't finished.
That's not Bloodborne on the ps1, Bloodborne is Nightmare Creatures on the ps4 lol. They totally ripped it off no doubt, don't get me wrong I absolutely love that they did and Bb is one of my all time favorite games now.

PS1 is super nostalgic to me as well. The graphics don't bother me at all from this era even now after playing 4k 60fps games on PS5. The controls, camera and some game design choices from the PS1 era can be another story sometimes lol

I really loved this game when it came out. Few games have such a powerful and consistent visual language. The controls could be a lot better, but it's still playable. Probably its development could have had better resources. Who knows, maybe one day we'll see a remake that does him justice

16:42 is Dragula by Zombie. All of the cutscenes that have rock music is from Zombie, they're cut down versions of his songs. This was one of my favorite games to play as a kid on the Dreamcast even if it DID (and I'll admit still) scare the fuck out of me. I only relatively played the PS1 version, and I will say it feels and looks a bit worse, but not a ton. The controls feel a tiny bit better and the graphics are a bit brighter and better looking. Plus with the stick on the DC controller, it hurts your hands way less. During fatalities, the VMU has an animation of an axe hacking away with a blood splatter coming up and it says "FATALITY"
I completely agree with this review. My favorite aspect of this game is the atmosphere and the music. When a movie or game has great atmosphere and great music, they already have a spot in my "Great Game/Movie" list. When it's creepy, well, that's just the icing on the cake. I also love Bloodborne because of that reason, even though I can't get past the first area of the game. And maybe the disappointing ending hints at a third game? Possibly one with more variety while bringing back the eeriness that we love.

Imagine this getting the resident evil remake treatment. Imagine a combination of the last of us cinematic melee system, and the souls series, with engines like ue5 this would be an amazing game.

Find and download a PS1 emulator. I haven't been keeping up with the latest ones but I used ePSXe a while back. Then do a Google search for Nightmare Creatures 2 ROM. Download and use that file to play on the emulator.

This game still looks good. It's using some sophisticated motion capture animation fairly ahead of its time with decent framerates for a PS1. Something really cool about that dithered PS1 look at native resolution. I always thought PS1 games look like garbage when they are upscaled to smooth out the pixels.
Nice review. I would've liked this game better as a survival horror game with less focus on fighting and more exploration/puzzles/story. The PS1 version of this seems to run better/faster than the Dreamcast. My guess is this was rushed AF and instead of working on it for another year or so they just shipped what they had and called it a day, hence a lot of the jank. I think NC1 is definitely better, it's faster, has more combos, and the potential for one hit kills makes it less monotonous.

In my opinion Nightmare Creatures 2 was a great game but no where as good as NC1. 2 didn't have combos unless ⛶⛶ ☓ and ☓ ☓ ⛶ the only 2 "combos" in the game are sufficient enough then hey... NC1 had long combos and many across both heros. The combat was superior in NC1 imo the creepy music, enemy variety, and different weapons put it leeps and bounds above NC2. Now I will say NC2 is a fun play but superior to NC1? Not even close.

The monster design is really interesting and you can actually make out the models on the Dreamcast. I still remember my first stiffie during the first encounter with the lady monster 😂

I would've liked this game better as a survival horror game with less focus on fighting and more exploration/puzzles/story. The PS1 version of this seems to run better/faster than the Dreamcast. My guess is this was rushed AF and instead of working on it for another year or so they just shipped what they had and called it a day, hence a lot of the jank. I think NC1 is definitely better, it's faster, has more combos, and the potential for one hit kills makes it less monotonous.

In my opinion Nightmare Creatures 2 was a great game but no where as good as NC1. 2 didn't have combos unless ⛶⛶ ☓ and ☓ ☓ ⛶ the only 2 "combos" in the game are sufficient enough then hey... NC1 had long combos and many across both heros. The combat was superior in NC1 imo the creepy music, enemy variety, and different weapons put it leeps and bounds above NC2. Now I will say NC2 is a fun play but superior to NC1? Not even close.

@@greatmentakingovertheworld4800 Nah, it's a straight up port but the higher resolution makes it way more bearable, I never was a fan of the PS1 look. The monster design is really interesting and you can actually make out the models on the Dreamcast. I still remember my first stiffie during the first encounter with the lady monster 😂
