    This was a great video, I followed this while doing my clear shell swap - just like the one in this video. Only part that was missing was when you forgot to include the triangle, zero, X, square motherboard re-connection part. Other than that, flawless tutorial bro

    Nicely done! I also recently did a shell swap for an Atomic Purple one, although I skipped the UMD Drive replacement as mine isn't working so I removed it entirely. The most trouble I had was getting out the speakers, also some of the original screws didn't match the new shell, but I had a lot of screws so it was fine.

      @RelicsOfRaptorsGaming  Год назад +1

      That's awesome congratulations! I got extremely luck with this swap as I've heard nothing but bad things about swapping shells. The quality of the new shells are less to be desired so you have to work with what you've got. I did an IPS screen mod in mine as well, I was going to include that in this video. I was reassembling it and pinched the ribbon cable just enough to cause it to not work. $40 down the drain but I was able to come back later with another screen and now it works perfectly.

    Fully plan on following this guide soon. Last time I tried this, it went horribly and I ended up with one less PSP. Now that I found my old one, I figure it’s time for a little exterior refresh.

    So i have bought 3 shells from the same ali express company. so far the blue was absolutely perfect . everything fit, the power button was already assembled and it was good quality plastic throughout. The clear however was absolute trash. I could not believe they were the same company. the umd back was flimsy like paper. nothing fit properly and the power switch does not work. Just so you know.
    Also at 7:42 you can see a jelly like substance. this is a clear rubber contact patch which is crucial for the analogue stick to connect to the mainboard. don't be an idiot like me and not see it and then lose it.

    Hey man great tutorial. I started following along yesterday but I ran into so many problems with my shell. The quality was just so bad and I couldn't get the drive seated in it properly. By the time I was done the PSP was basically unusable. The UMD door was so tight that it took extreme force to open it via the switch... There was just so must resistance. Not to mention the gap within the plastic between the bottom of the door and PSP. Everything just felt crooked, offset and force screwed into place.
    Would you happen to know where I can buy any better quality shells from? It looks like all the sellers on Aliexpress get their shells from the same factory. I paid like $25 for this one too... Gutted.

    • @RelicsOfRaptorsGaming
      @RelicsOfRaptorsGaming  11 месяцев назад

      I'm sorry to hear that. I used a shell I bought on Amazon, but more than likely came from the same factory in China. I can't say for sure if they will be any better quality as my shell has some fit and finish issues. The thing I learned from all my troubles is to not expect a perfect swap, there will be problems somewhere it's inevitable. I linked the shell I used in the description if you want to check it out

  • @najjmx2422
    @najjmx2422 Год назад

    nice job man. How does the quality feel? Is it comparable to the og 1000? Im thinking of changing my already non oem shell to this. Is it advisable to reshell?

    • @RelicsOfRaptorsGaming
      @RelicsOfRaptorsGaming  Год назад

      I do have to say, I was really surprised by the quality. Yeah, there are some things wrong like the memory stick cover & the buttons, but overall when it's all put back together it feels solid. I can't guarantee all aftermarket shells will be the same from a quality standpoint though. I've heard about shells that go together perfectly without any issues whatsoever, and I've also heard about swaps where nothing went as planned. I personally would say go for it! Should anything go catastrophic, just save your old shell to swap back to

      @@comfy_rwds I am going to say no it is not. This particular shell I used in the video has some fit & finish issues. The memory stick door being my biggest complaint as it was only molded 3/4 of the way, so I had no choice but to use the OEM door. I went as far as stripping off all the metal trim from around my original PSP and used that on the new shell. No real reason for that, I mainly just did that for the barcode on the bottom. Aside from the normal common complaints about aftermarket shells like the clear buttons, I overall don't think it's that bad. Just comparing quality to OEM though I definitely have to go with a factory shell.

      I would look on ebay for a junk psp just for parts. I had one at one point and it really saved me a couple times when I would lose a screw or break a connector. You can find junk 1000's for around $10 or even cheaper if you catch it at the right time
