I've seen similar techniques (back tie) before, but never this exact one with backing up and raising the hand. I am going to give it a try. Believe it or not, my Mal is not a very vocal dog (which I actually think is a good thing) so trying to get him to bark on command has been difficult. My border collie, on the other hand, picked it up super quickly. Thanks for the video!
OMG. My Mail is totally silent unless alone in the yard. She doesn’t even return barks to other dogs. I thought she was a unicorn 😂
@Ryan unsworth just because I taught him to bark doesn't mean he now barks uncontrollably. He still doesn't bark a lot, but I can now get him to bark on command. So, yes, I think it is a good thing that he doesn't bark a lot but he barks when I tell him to.
Good for you! I'm going to try to utilize this with another trainers methods to get a reliable, scary sounding bark on command utilizing frustration & play. My working line German Shepherd has the worst (poor) bite, I dont think I could ever get him into protection sports/IGA stuff--but when he's excited/happy, the bark SOUNDS terrifying to those who don't know. If I can get it on command, would make for a very good deterrent bark if I were threatened by a stranger (who DOESN'T need to know he's "all bark and no bite", lol)
Border Collies ARE amazing. My ❤ is OWNED by German Shepherds, my boy has taught me so much and now I "get" them--but Border Collies are ridiculously cool, SMART dogs!!❤❤❤

Does your course go over this if you have an older dog that's been trained to wait patiently no matter the distraction? I've tried this, but my lab just sits and waits. Moment I clip the leash, she's ready to play....
And I realize how that would be absolutely perfect for most pet people lol

How would you train a dog to defend a person or a child. I have seen videos were the dog is tasked to protect some one with a command and then sticks to them and attacks to defend them.
this is called “personal protection,” and in order to be successful, it must be taught by professionals. it all started at the puppy stage with prey drive, testing of instinct, etc. if you’d like to learn more, i totally recommend reaching out to a trainer, they are often willing to give info! :)
If you have the money and the right dog, there's no one better than Haz to train protection work. That being said: watch many of his videos. David Harris also sells top protection dogs in the US (Tennessee I think), has great videos without the training tips. But a full on, "Protection Dog" is extensive, extensive training, and costs quite a bit. Think "new car" prices. But Haz would probably be able to help and do a bit of training your current dog, he's in Canada.
@@lilym469 Maybe a little late, but protection is NOT prey drive! It's guarding/defense drive. Prey drive is used for attack.

God! I tried it for the first time today and it worked like a charm!in the 30 time she was already barking when I said "bark", even without a hand gesture or backward movement !! It's important to know that my dog barks only at others and not at me, so I couldn't make her barking in the usual method with the snack, but with your method I succeeded !! And not only that, I was really afraid she would behave aggressively afterwards, but she was not at all! Now i want to know what to do to make her stop🤣😂 but for real, is ther a continuous video? Cuse that my real problem p.s my dog is a year and a half old, she is border collie mix with german shepherd, and she was a street dog when i found her almost a year ago. She is really afraid of people because she was mistreated.

Are you able to get a strong, scary sounding sustained bark? Or just a "bark, bark" like "give me a treat"? Really curious how it went. I want to train a sustained scary sounding bark on command (my German Shepherd "sounds" like he could kill a Buffalo when we're playing if he's frustrated/happy. I want to get it on consistent command).

this is REALLY awesome info, one question if I may, for me, I feel I can Identify that bark as a "I wanna play" or "I just wanna be free", compared to the "I am gonna kill you" bark.......is this true?

Check out Raw Feeding University on Facebook or PerfectlyRawsome.Com, the nutritionist is EXCELLENT. If you are feeding a high quality kibble, you can add up to 25% total feeding with general raw muscle meats, some raw muscle-bone (think pork chops, chicken necks, chicken feet) and organ meats without getting into trouble. But over 25% total diet, you want to make sure it's "balanced" properly. I was doing "balanced DIY Raw" for a long time. I'm now doing mostly a commercial lightly cooked balanced food with an egg or two, a raw meaty bone like a pork rib or lamb chop thrown in. I plan to go back to full balanced raw when time & money permit.

I would say own one as a pet first before you own and breed at the same time. Also do research on female dogs being prone to c sections and etc. Not only is the one time payment a lot the reoccurring dog food, vet bills, supplements are a looot.
Definitely do your research. There's a lot more to breeding than simply put in a male and female together. If you enjoy these videos respect what you do then also understand that they put a lot of careful thought into breeding and matching mates. Kind of like humans some men and women won't produce nice kids. You need to find that nice sweet spot of balance
@@primalcritters what people also don't know why most prefer to do insemination is because dogs carry their own STDs and STIs similar to humans. And you have to be mentally prepared to lose a puppy or two after the first 3 days and sometimes the ENTIRE litter. And if the mother dog does not have the proper pet insurance and something goes wrong th bill can be between $500-$5000 or more due to what ever severitied happen or some type of infection occurs. Most of the time when I see people say" I love dogs I want to breed them" are the reason why so many pets are in shelters now because the hard work behind this is just seen as profit. Selling unhealthy puppies, not screened or tested properly, and just bred in someone's backyard for a quick profit. Usually backyard breeders sell puppies early around 5-7 weeks old to the highest payer not caring for the puppies wellbeing.
@@bruh-ItsTokyo I completely agree with you. Personally I'm a huge fan of the German Shepherd breed, specifically the working line Shepherds. The show lines have been so over bred and ruined for that matter with indiscriminate people investing in low quality breeding stock, not doing the proper health screening, temperament testing, and conformation assessments. Then they sell to people buying puppies on a whim and do not enforce contracts and they wonder why so many dogs end up in shelters. Then ALL breeders get a bad rap including the good ones. Yes AI is definitely the preferred way and even still losing a pup is still a possibility. But most people don't seem to care and just want to make a buck and that's how breeds are ruined.
@@primalcritters man the SHOW LINE breeders for any dog get one my nerves, like keep them original not DISABLED LIKE MY ASS (I suffer from seizures XD) I swear AKC, UKC, etc overlook all the beautiful working lines if they don't have the scoliosis back and hips. It so infuriating. They even say sales are ugly LIKE WHAT? I no longer respect the AKC and UKC bc of this. There is no such thing as an ugly dog. Only ugly hearted ppl.

I don't see it being dangerous for a dog to bark at you unless you're somehow allergic to barking. I assume they are in the stages of beginning to teach bark so somewhjere down the line when he barks consistently with the treat. They will probably introduce a command.

Literally it's the only video that i found that worked. I taught my malinois X labrador to speak in only 15 mins😅
It didn't work out with my mal :( she's 7 months old and I've done what's discussed in the video, even ran next to her to get her excited etc, but she was just not barking. She lunged at me etc, but no barking 😔

@@oui2826 make him think that you're gonna leave him there, never make a step towards him if he dosen't bark, go even 200 m from him if necessary. If he has ball drive you can keep the ball in your hand and move it while giving the command.

I was in my car with my pit bull while my son went in to get a soda. My dog started whining. The homeless were looking at me like I was a steak and saw my dog. They completely surrounded my car anyway, and my dog just whined :/
