"I'm not after you, I don't even know you!" This line has stuck with me even a decade later. It taught me that no matter how overwhelming my problems feel, I'm not the center of the universe.
I think this scene was a defining moment for me growing up. We grow up thinking of guns, knives, etc as weapons. This scene shows us a completely different weapon: words. I wondered for a long time why Greg rarely used a gun in Flashpoint before I realized his words are the only weapon he needs. When put in a life or death situation, he “took the shot” here himself. His panicked reaction afterwards is the realization of what he’s done. Idk, I guess it’s just a really powerful moment for me.
You know who that reminds me of? Jason Gideon from Criminal Minds, He also didn’t use a gun as well and had never killed a criminal, Not saying that he couldn’t, He probably had it in him, And it wasn’t like he couldn’t shoot a gun, Odds are he probably could’ve knock a person down with a pistol from 50 meters; None of that’s the point, He always knew how to get into the head of his opponent no matter how stubborn they were, He was a master negotiator and also the team leader, But like Greg, He also had a lot of tragedies on his conscience and weight on his shoulders.
This was one of the best episodes. This is was a powerful scene bc he was full pouring out the truth. I loved this show. Parker and Ed were my favorites. This show had me in tears over the years from the episode of the them guy they lost who was Wordy's best friend. To other episodes. This show should still be on. The crap we have now. All my favorite shows aren't on anymore. Supernatural, Hawaii Five 0, Flashpoint, Criminal Minds.
I was hoping to see the scene after this because there's a great line where Greg tells Ed 'He was splitting. He set out to slay the monster and I convinced him he was it.' It put the suicide scene so well in context since you can tell Greg instantly knows what's going through Gil's head and tries to talk him out of it.
I know Gil was angry and overwhelmed, but there's always a way to get by bad times. He didn't have to try and kill Parker or commit suicide, there's always a doorway out.
How do you get by bad times when you can’t even remember the last time you had a good time? What’s to say a good time or a good thing was going to come out of this situation for him. all there was ahead of him was jail time and a resume with facts of this stated on it Some fish can only go so deep before they begin to drown themselves and the current is too heavy to swim back up to.
This was such an emotional scene especially after the personal responsibility of the negotiator essentially crossing to the dark side. I want to point out the safety gear. Those straps cannot hold much I know from experience and to be hung my handcuffs to some webbing is impossible. You can clearly see the real metal wire doing the real support in these shots.
Yeah, well you can't save everyone. And cops are only human, they make mistakes, they get angry, sad, emotional and are capable of breaking just like everyone else. Parker didn't kill Gil, Gil chose his own death.
Leon Morgan Gil was an ex-cop who held a grudge against Greg Parker and he takes him hostage, threatening to drop him off then arena's megatron if Greg can't talk him down. Greg does do that but Gil's so screw up and splitting kills himself and killing Greg would not have done anything to solve his problems and it wouldn't solve his grudge against him. Just trying to prove he was a better man and a better cop and like what Gil did to Greg is not the way to do it....
Kanefan701 Man you don't understand the kind of pain people go through in life. to someone they fail one thing and it's like their whole life screws up and especially in this case for Gail
Easy for the SRU team to be angry at Gil for almost successfully getting revenge on Greg since they weren’t in the same position as him after Gil tried twice to join them years back. And I think after Ed’s talk with Greg at the end of the episode, it confirmed to me that he’s kind of an a**hole
Gil orchestrated a robbery just to make himself a hero and all because he got turned down for a position in SRU (most likely the position that Donna Sabine got recruited for). The arrogant bastard let one setback break him and he blamed Greg for his misfortunes.

Gil Collin deserved it....he was a coward after threatening to kill Parker...
Kanefan701 suicidal mate there's a difference clearly something wasn't right in his head.
