One arm push-ups might be easier than you think!
Unilateral pushing (and pulling) can sometimes help us even out lateral imbalances and translate to a lot of daily activity - opening doors, throwing, punching, and more!
(I guess some people punch every day - hopefully not towards random people).
As usual you can build up with easier variations!
Some people might prefer to go directly to the one arm pushup and assist with, say, a resistance band.
While that's fine and might theoretically get you there faster, I find it nice to develop a variety of pushing skills and positions on the way! Just something to play around with.
Hope this can help! Have a wonderful day.
Hampton, which one of these push up progression is similar( in difficulty) to a dip.
@@sheetmusicpianofied8153 it might be semi-planche or pike pushups, the movement of a dip is replicated best by those variations
@@biko9824 what do you mean by semi planche?
Can I ask what I can do to reduce shakiness when muscles are engaged/struggling a little
U dont seem so strong but about me ur a savage at strenght
You are the Bob Ross of Fitness shorts.
Fr
That is a very accurate analogy
A while back some of us were calling him Buff Ross, if I recall right. I hope it gains traction lol
@@ItsAsparageese yea
This made me laugh out loud
Man just casually talking through all that makes me sweat
Sorry, can't relate. lol (jk, you will get there someday)
@@5h1l0hk 😉 looking forward to it for sure
i can currently do 6,5,4, hand 30 cm above ground, the hardest part is the rotational movement imo.
getting yourself from the slight twist into a straight position is really brutal
@@m0-m0597 good job, better than nothing 🔥🙏🏼

Will do! Thanks for being awesome.
"Otherwise you'd be so BIASED dude."
Why do I feel guilty over something I didn't do? lol
I cant even do a modified push, let alone one hand push ups.
But your videos give me so much joy, that I couldn't resist watching it!
Excuse me but whats a modified pushup?
@@unknown69801 on knees
@@unknown69801they're also called knee pushups, they're what ppl use to work up to full pushups, but they're also helpful on their own even if you can do full.
try a partial range of motion so you can progress, you can do it
I did 8 pushups on knee,6 rep,and now I can 8 pushups hand release,6 reps...I will try this,too!
This is a man who knows he's reached the level cap
Push beyond that and he’ll accidentally become One Punch Man… that’s just how it works 🤷

Caught me off guard that nice planche flex at the end 😂😂
I think that was an elbow lever. Still nice tho
@@mondumkreisung2302 you just might be right! Still awesome 👏🏻
I love when he does these insanse things effortlessly, like an afterthought. Not one to boast, our long haired sandal man.
@@artofstormdancing3319 an elbow lever is not that insane. everyone with average strenght could do it with proper explanation

I really admire how humble and meek you are💪🏼
Man is so humble he makes shorts in flip flops...
A one armed push up is easier to learn than a three armed push up
I am trying to get stronger. I’m used to doing push ups with my elbows outwards. I guess that’s wrong. So every morning I have been using the bathroom sink which is lower to try to build up doing push-ups with my elbows in. Every week I move my feet further back. I hope soon I can use something half as tall and then the floor. I have monkey bars outside for the grandkids. Oh how I can’t wait to do pull-ups in front of them!
Dont do pushups fully tucked in, try to make it like an arrow with your body, good luck on your journey
Good luck !!! Don't give up you're more capable than you think !!! 💪💪
Keep on keeping on 🔥
Dude you could not have released this at a better time for me. THANK YOU HAMPTON!! ❤️😀
The little Hamptons on the top are so cuuuute
You’re putting out great quality content and are so kind and welcoming and encouraging. Really happy for you in your health and career and wish you all the best!
I am in awe of how many difficult skills you showed yourself capable of in this video
For someone who still does knee pushups. This is a long way, but achievable now, thanks to the explanation
I'm never going to be biased again. Love u
“Otherwise, you’ll be so biased dude.” LOL! Love it!
I'm so excited for him to get back to doing the content regularly.❤
I did my first one arm push up last year because of you!
Thank you Hampton! I can now work towards realistically achieving what I always wanted to try since seeing Tommy the Green Ranger do it decades ago.
Thanks man, this is really exciting! I’ll try this tomorrow morning- slowly of course, building up the first few steps :)
"All your friends are sure to be impressed! They're sure to be..." *shows sc of friend replying w 'idc lol' to being able to do one arm push ups* HAIYAAAAAA
I love the progressions at the top of the vid
I really like the chill approach to teaching that stuff, makes the idea of doing something like that a lot more approachable.
Been building to it for a bit, right now am between triangle and archer pushups.
You and the stay flexy guy are my inspiration to getting back into excercise.
So, thank you for that :)
Second short of yours I'm watching and I got to say, I love your style of content creation and delivery. Really enjoyable and informative.
I can do a one arm pushup without training any other variations than normal pushups. But when you try to unlock the one arm pushup as fast as possible, these variations are useful.
Bote gambit: declined variation
This video put such a smile on my face because it was both so amusing to watch and also incredibly impressive to see how strong you are. 🥰
Amazing vibes, you are my new fitness guru
You’re freakin amazing Hampton thank you for all you do haha
One arm push-ups that don’t look like you’re twisting your spine like a corkscrew, hallelujah praise the form!

I want to learn the pistol squat soon, gonna need a lot of strength
I could kiss you. I've been trying to do a one armed pushup for years and could never get past fingers touching and inclined pushups. Now I have the tools!!
Impressive video!!!
Why is it always look so easy but if I try just one push up....i dont came up...not even one mm xD
Joints get angry i never knew that hassa that's why i can't do weighted handstand push-ups
Now I'm curious if it's possible to have enough leg and core strength to do a no armed "push up". I doubt it because then you would be fighting your entire body weight on the fulcrum of your feet. So i *think* it would effectively be multiple times your body weight. But idk the formula for that.
1. You and your videos are f’in awesome.
2. How can you be so damn strong yet not be built like a truck?
Exactly for that reason, he trains for pure strength, not size 😆
people built like a truck aren't strong
@@myriammanai6758 a lot can be with the right type of training, although most gym dudes just train for aesthetics not functionality or pure strength.
@@YaNeK92 exactly ! I agree with you
@@myriammanai6758 thanks :) over my life of training I've reformed to not be a part of the statistic mentioned, and instead go against the grain and become more functional 😆🤙🏼
Hope you have a great week and wishing you all the best on your journey Myriam 💯
Thanks
G money?? I hope that a girl sayin that last message 🤣🤣🤣
Have a beautiful day 👺
Oh he I flip flops too
A few respectful criticisms, the reliance on a super wide stance and limited range of motion significantly reduces the difficulty of the movement and giving you’re only pushing 50% of your total body weight in any push up a strict variation isn’t exactly unreasonable. The balance is the hard part, making it too easy removes any unique benefit. Training both sides evenly is also just pedantic ocd, everyone has a strong side genetically that should be trained to its potential if you want to maximise your real world strength , equally, if you do want to mitigate imbalances, it makes more sense to do higher reps on the weaker side, not arbitrarily assume they can manage the same load with equal form and tension. It ends up being a best of neither scenario where you’re not fully counter balancing your weak side nor actualising the strength of your strong side
I learnt a one arm pushup in less then 30 minutes...
How are you so fit, my gosh!?
YUH HES BACK
What about no hands pushups??? Just curious about how you build up to those
Uggh, fine, I'll subscribe! :p
Will take lots of time to build up muscles just to do one arm push-up
