    I realize this is an old video but it seems people are still referring to it. I think I figured out how to adjust the headlights horizontally, at least on my 2021. Not that I think anyone should have to do this short of a major issue with the front end of some type. It doesn’t look like the idea as implied in the video is to just loosen the 10mm bolts and then shift the light left or right would work. That wouldn’t have much of an affect on aim anyway. If you look closely behind the inboard 10mm bolt position at the bottom of each light, you can see that the nut/seat for this bolt has a depth adjuster on it. You can see a knurled black ring just behind where that bolt inserts. Adjusting the depth of this bolt seat will pivot the entire light assembly by a few degrees. You’d have to remove the light assembly to adjust it, so a lot of trial and error. Again, not intended to be a routine adjustment.

    I've just decided it's okay to have those fingers on the lower panel broken. The headlight bulbs burn out constantly on these things, so you're going to be pulling those panels all the time. The first two times I changed headlight bulbs I did some finger yoga to successfully get those lower panels off. After that I gave up and let them break. The fingers don't seem to affect the fit of the those panels at all. Just my two cents. This is on my personal van by the way.

    Great info! Didn’t realize my Promaster had these adjustments. I just purchased led lights and I’m constantly getting hi beamed by other drivers.

    I have two of these promasters, and am constantly dicking with the headlights. My understanding is that the upper adjustment adjusts the beam height of the low besm, and the double screw thingy at the lower mount adjusts the attitude of the whole headlight assembly. So you set the high beam height with the lower screw, and use the adjuster for just the low beam. Did I miss something?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 лет назад +2

      +Kip Amore Both adjustments will affect both the high and low beam bulbs because it moved the internal fixture that there are both mounted to. There is no separate adjustment for low and high beam. The upper adjustment is horizontal and lower is vertical per the service info.

    You confused horizontal with vertical. Think of the horizon for the side to side adjustment. Think of a basketball player's vertical jump for up and down.

    Not all hands can access the snaps of the lower panel. Some hands are too big, and that area is tight. There is a way to loosen the snaps with a flathead screwdriver or trim stick, but it's not easy to do, you have to go very slow.

      You are correct Tim. I look at a lot of jobs from time to time and wonder how people with larger hands get into the areas that we have to. I catch hell some times myself so I can surely imagine. Thanks for that added tip and for watching the video. Make sure to subscribe

    I think you have your vertical and horizontal nomenclatures mixed up. Vertical is up and down, horizontal is left or right. Other than that, great video.

      I stand corrected my friend lol. I was had a conversation with some co-workers about this after seeing your message. You are correct.....horizontal (left/right) and vertical (up/down). For some reason it didnt make sense in my mind until I looked at it differently. Thanks for the correction. As you have seen.....I am not all knowing and not always correct as well. Much appreciated and make sure to subscribe

    I just replaced the driver's side low beam light bulb. But during my inspection they said it's pointing up too much. I twisted that top screw and it did nothing. I can't seem to get the entire assembly to match up with the same angle as the passenger light.

    Nice video, however, the center/low mounting bolt is related to but is not the adjustment for the horizontal component of the headlight aiming. It is actually the "thumb-wheel" that is located behind this bolt that is used for the horizontal component of the headlight aiming:
    1. In order to be able to rotate the thumb-wheel, it is necessary to remove this center/low mounting bolt, then slightly loosen the other two mounting bolts, then pull the headlight assembly away from the mounting surface to eliminate the binding between the headlight assembly and the thumb-wheel headlight aiming adjustment that is located behind this center/low mounting bolt.
    2. It may be difficult to rotate this thumb-wheel with your fingers. Also note that this thumb-wheel is "revers-threaded." It may be possible to rotate the tum-wheel by inserting the mounting bolt partially into the thumb-wheel so that the two “ridges” on the mounting bolt engage with the “slots” in the passageway for the bolt in the thumb-wheel. It may also be possible to wedge a flat-blade screw driver into the passageway for the bolt in the thumb-wheel, then rotate the thumb-wheel by rotating the screwdriver.
    3. Once the horizontal position of the headlights has been properly set, firmly push the mounting bolt into the female threaded mounting position until it bottoms out, then begin tightening the bolt. It is necessary to bottom out this bolt prior to tightening in order to avoid rotating the thumb wheel when tightening this bolt.

    Our 2015, idk if im doing it 100% correct but a t15 is way to small for the vertical adjustment. Help? Also the life of the bulbs seem to be trash (replaced 2-3 in past 2 months) any thoughts?

      SciFiDriveBy i was well aware of that but thank you. Turns out the bulb hour life is just that short and im driving around 200 hours a month or so
