The SM57 has the warmest sound of the three which I like, but the "bite" of the 5Core definitely adds character to the guitar sound. Thanks for the experiment!
Honestly they seemed to be OK. I have used the Sure 55 since it was reintroduced. There are probably better options for vocals but, it just looks cool.
Yeah. I was impressed. I think the 5Core definitely has a better midrange response but the Pyle is certainly a good mic for the price. Thanks for checking it out.
It’s amazing how inexpensive mics can be these days. Of course I liked the shure the best but I think the 5 core was a very close second. What did you think ? Nice job
Yeah. These budget mics are pretty impressive. I agree with you, the SM57 is my fave of the 3 but that 5core is pretty impressive and I love the aesthetic. I'll definitely use it again.
Ironically, I use the camera's internal mic for most of the dictation. However, I just ordered a Movo VXR shotgun mic for this purpose. My 'go to' microphone for recording instruments is the AT2020. I think the 5Core would make a good vocal mic but probably not as good for guitars or other instruments.
Those are fun, the plastic mic had a very tin sort of sound. On a side note have you seen anything on the new teenage engineering sampler Grove box it's the dumbest/best thing ever. It's medieval themed
I agree completely. The Pyle was a little weak in the midrange but I was impressed with the 5Core. I haven't seen the new TE sampler yet... I'm off to check it out. Thanks for letting me know.
I do not hear not hear much difference but I do not have my headphones on. I would go with the 5Core RTRO-MIC-CHBL. just for the metal and the physical feel of it. you do such net things... Thank you
Great comparison! I do like the retro looks!
Thanks Steve. I think they look so cool.

I completely agree. There's just something about the Shure 55. It's a classic look.
For the money difference I don't think there bad at all, really not a whole lot of difference between them

What mic do you use for your videos? Would you feel comfortable using one of these in that role?

They are also releasing a record with sounds to sample so that could be fun as well

The 5Core definitely has more midrange presence and sounds a bit more natural but they're both pretty good for the price... and they look super cool.
