Very nice, thank you for a 15 minute vacation! I am interested in Texas as a possible place to retire to, so your videos are a nice glimpse into what the state has to offer. Much appreciated.
I've never been to any of those small towns in Texas..... Born and raised in South East Texas , my life was complicated for many years. I never got out to do sightseeing of my amazing State of Texas. Through your videos I get to see a glimpse of what I've missed....Those places are so beautiful and so peaceful... That old hotel is AMAZING! Those old buildings are so AWESOME to see in side and out and how things were back then. I bet during those times, people back then probably though those buildings was the bomb, the places to be living the high class life. ......Thank you for showing the HISTORY of TEXAS, I truly enjoyed it..... Be healthy and stay safe.
You missed the only “Blue Water” designated beach on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Rockport Beach achieved that and maintains that distinction. It may not be to the open gulf, but provides thousands of families a stress are pretty much risk free time at the beach, due to the fact there are no undertows, and the water is relatively shallow for a 1/4 of a mile out. There’s a “salt water” pool, migratory bird nesting areas and piers. The Aransas County Navigation District maintains the beach area, and pavilions.
Nice video! I've been in many of these places since we have family that used to live in Port Lavaca. Were you able to see the Big Tree near Goose Island State Park? You should have also seen several 1936 Texas Centennial granite historical markers: Cox's Point; Lamar; James Power; Aransas County; George Fulton. We visited Fulton Mansion on a camping trip to Rockport. We didn't get to go inside the mansion because it was undergoing a major renovation at the time (before Harvey which did damage it.) We did get to go into the interpretive center which is a recent addition. We also enjoyed the Texas Maritime Museum. We didn't look at the outside exhibits due to rain on that day. I enjoyed riding my bicycle around Rockport, it seems very pedestrian friendly. Keep up the great work!
Rockport has the only “Blue Water Beach” on the entire Gulf of Mexico. The “Blue Water Beach” designation means it’s a family friendly safe beach for younger children and families. The water is only thigh deep for about a 1/2 mile out, and you don’t have to worry about undertows since it’s on the bay.
gave you a like and sub brother , i watch all your vids , i love Texas , this is my neighborhood , was working Cowboy on family horse ranch in Wichita Falls in 70s and 80s , moved to North Padre in 86 , lived aboard my 3 yachts for many yrs. at PIYC and bay front Marina , restored classic yachts for myself and clients at House of Boats in Rockport , driving my 76 Corvette Stingray from Yacht Club to Port A , ferry , A Pass then Rockport , so fun , now a retired Hot Rodder lol , got a 40 ft. Motor Coach , F TYPE Jaguar and car trailer at beach front RV Resort on the Island !!
Def living the dream brother! Can you share the RV resort where you are now? Plan to do the same but in reverse order. Hope to find a nice sailboat. Any recommendation(s) is much appreciated.

My grandparents use to winter in Rockport and I would visit them in the spring before they left. Such a beautiful town. I know they were hit hard by Harvey but there were some awesome local restaurants that I hope reopened.
Just such a beautiful area...hope you are keeping well there in Texas...all over the news here in Canada as to the snow and cold...thinking about and praying for you all....
South Padre Island can have 10 to 15 foot waves, long rides and curls, at certain times of the year. My friend from Cali was shocked and we had a blast down there on em once. I told him to kinda keep it a secret. lol
Great video. Port A and north padre island are our favorite places to vacation. Already booked trips for May and July and this video just made me very impatient lol. I just subscribed. Keep em coming
HOWDY TO ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTER DOWN THERE > Yes I'am stuck in E Texas, Rockport Tx. is my old stomping grounds, I love it there. 14 miles from Port A. 35 miles from Corpus, 3 miles from the Cos-way Pier Close enough to Houston, and San Antonio
Does Palacios have alligators and snakes like Rockport? My son wants me to move up there with him but I’m looking for a town close by that doesn’t have critters like Rockport. Thank you.
Some of the worlds best SEA FOODS, And TEX MEX FOODS > There all sorts of hunting, ducks, goose, deer ect ect Its what i call PARADISE God i Love it.. If your bored there? YOUR DEAD! Cause there plenty of things to do, DAY AND NIGHT > I fish at night under the lights, and surf, and Grill, during the day PARY PARTY ALL THE TIME > People are AWESOME there.. Just be yourself, no need to put on a dog and pony act
Always makes me wonder why there are no major cities in Texas right at the ocean. In Cali San Francisco, L.A., San Diego are right at the ocean. Same on the east coast with many major cities. But in Texas? Nothing

I think Fulton - Rockport would be a great place to retire
@@secretsoftexas6872 well....now it's not a secret! lol
Hey I live in Rockport! I work at the Vietnamese restaurant down the street from the Fulton mansion!

South East Texas isn't far from the those towns in Texas. I lived in S. Texas from 1976 till 1988.
thank you for this... wow... i didn't realize the beauty of the beach in TX...

I'm from Texas, and did not know that. tytyty
Very appreciated. More Texas beaches please.
I've got a couple more on the way, but they aren't the famous ones
I loved living in Aransas Pass.10 of my best years. It gets extremely foggy at night driving through Rockport.
You did a great job thanks for all the work!
Thank you too!
Great memories for me. I need to go back. Mustang Island! The ferry!
Very interesting. IT'S SO FLAT! -Rocky Mtn lady here. I'm studying up for my road trip next year.
1:49 is my wife's favorite place in Texas. We were Winter Texans twice, staying in the Victoria/Goliad area.
We get a lot of winter Texans at the rv park by riverside in Victoria,Tx welcome!
Very nostalgic drive ! However you stopped before reaching the Queen of the Texas coast, ...Port Isabel & South Padre Island.

I love the premise of your channel! There are some beautiful sights to see in our lovely state.
Thanks for that. Hopefully it will take years to discover them all.

I was delighted to see that they could have the Texas Maritime museum up and running again. I understand it was badly damaged in the last hurricane.

Just discovered and subscribed to your channel, nice to see videos from a fellow “Texas Road Warrior”👍
And I can't wait to get on the road again
Used to live in South Texas from 1976 till 1988. I remember visiting Palacios as a kid. My last last visit was probably 10 years ago.
I have stayed at the Port A City Marina many times. That’s the party end for the Harvest Moon Regatta.
Excellent video!

Time for a road trip, thanks for the encouraging videos...love your content, stay safe.
Thanks for visiting my channel. I hope your road trip is a great experience.
We used to go many times. Haven't been there in years. These videos bring back a lot of great memories. Thank you.
This is where we go every year for a week . I love the beach. So soothing n my hubby loves to use his metal detector.
Nice, Iv'e been all thru there
Just such a beautiful area...hope you are keeping well there in Texas...all over the news here in Canada as to the snow and cold...thinking about and praying for you all....
Thanks for thinking of us. It was the coldest weather I've seen in the part of Texas I live in.
You can say THAT again. Worst ice storm in years! Thanks for prayers. Same from us to you, hon.
Informative video to plan a nice trip. Thank you 👍
Lived in Beaumont for several years, made the coastal drive to South Padre several times. Things were different then. Down memory lane.
The Luther Hotel is haunted! :)
Being from central coast in California I did get a little laugh when you said large waves.
It's all relative. I've got a video coming out in a couple weeks that will help you understand why.
South Padre Island can have 10 to 15 foot waves, long rides and curls, at certain times of the year. My friend from Cali was shocked and we had a blast down there on em once. I told him to kinda keep it a secret. lol

I miss your upload such a good channel. I hope you and your family are ok.
I really love the night shots. I hope you do way more of them. Even when you can barely make anything out, I find that to be even more compelling.
Palacios will never be the same after losing the old beer and dance pavilion on the pier in front of the Luther hotel .
Wish I had visited the Luther Hotel when it was open.
Port 'A' is one of the jewels I discovered in 2012.
Stay at the Luther it is worth it, I have made many visits there over the years.👍🇺🇸
Seriously. Can you please link the music that you use?
Thanks for the info I
super my friend👍
You missed a real gem at Padre Island National Seashore. You were right next to it in Mustang Island.
It is very nice for sure. I do mention it in the video though. I may dedicate an entire video to that one eventually.
Let's not forget them salt water gators y'all😂
Does Palacios have alligators and snakes like Rockport? My son wants me to move up there with him but I’m looking for a town close by that doesn’t have critters like Rockport. Thank you.
The Luther Hotel is closed now and they will be tearing it down. So sad.
Unfortunately, that building was closed down and I believe they are going to tear it down.

Hurricanes have likely stunted their growth. California doesn't have to worry about that.
@@secretsoftexas6872 That's a good point. Is it true that the farther you go south on the barrier island towards Mexico, the nicer the beach gets?
