I agree with your take on the Meteor 350 wholeheartedly. I've had mine now for (almost) 3 years, over 13 thousand kilometers and I appreciate and grow fonder of it with every ride out. Royal Enfield really nailed it with this machine.
Love my Meteor. Comfortable, a joy to ride, makes a great noise and at a bit over three grand it has to be the best value bike ever. It’s a happy bike that makes you smile.
A grand wee bike, I'm thinking of getting back into motorbiking after a long break and as I'm getting on in years the meteor seems like just the bike for me. Thanks for your insite and narration devoid of backing sound track, the sound of the thumper is perfect for my ears. ATB Big Dave Scotland
Just sold my B M W K75c after 16 years , bought a 350cc Meteor in June , a great sound , single cylinder, ( no messing about with radiators and coolents ) air cooled , great on m p g 👍 go anywhere bike , best bike for your money , Me and my mate get out and about on our Enfields even though where in our mid 70s , great bikes great video's 👍 toe heal changer i had no probs with the transition 👍 actually find it better .
When i go out on my Meteor theres always someone comes up to me and has a natter about the bike itself , people have passed nice compliments on my Blue and yellow R E Meteor, my mate has the bronze Classic and his son has the Grey Hunter , weve all had bigger bikes in the passed but the Enfield puts a smile on your face , stay Happy friends .😊
I have the Bronze Classic and almost everywhere I stop somebody comes up and says something. Definately the most smile per mile than any other bike I've owned.
I've owned the stellar blue model for a year now and when I bought it I agonised over to go for the classic or Hntr. I'm pleased to confirm that I chose right it has proved to be an excellent machine perfect for the roads around the Scottish Borders.
Feel in love with the looks of my yellow one as well. Sold my R1100RT as I stopped riding it. Agree with every point you made. So easy to accessorize as well. Cheers
I was umming and arring between a Hunter and an old Airhead, as I missed mine. Bought the Hunter and love it. Okay not the Meteor, but same engine and same purchase feeling. Agree with all you’ve said.
Cracking video and I completely agree with you, I think it’s probably one of the most underrated bikes around, it’s definitely one of the best value for money bikes and it has a special character that wins you over, as they say it’s got the Royal Enfield magic 👍
I take mine off road on Byways, love it, I take a flask park up on on trail and breath in the scenery, that track you did would be a regular spot for me if in area for picnic, nice vid.
You seem like me in regards what is biking, like not long way round German tractor heavyweights. Just enjoying the rides not expensive motorcycles. Keep it up
I bought a '22 Classic new and absolutely love it. But it is a much better for you blokes on that side of the Pond. Here in SoCal it's a pretty big ask to keep up in traffic on the streets let alone get out on the freeways. I did add the DNA Stg 2 Filter, FuelX Lite module, the Hitchcocks De-Cat pipe and Kent cam. It is a totally different bike now. It even gets up and goes 70+ mph on the freeway without any strain. I did get the Hunter throttle body to delete the speed limiter but haven't installed it yet. We just don't have all the beautiful roads like you do in Britian. Wish we did. Oh and my other bike is a '06 CBR1000RR. Yeah total riding shock but I haven't ridden the CBR since I got the Classic. You're gonna love the way it rides at about 2500-3000 miles. It really takes that long to run them in and they just keep getting smoother and smoother. And if you want to see some Enfield off road shenanigans go check out Ride With Warro's channel. He's crazy. Enjoy and cheers from SoCal 🏖
Can I ask why? Some people drive on motorways here at 60-70 where this bike is comfortable and in towns we have limits if 30-40 where this bike is quick enough off the mark. I’ve derestricted mine by removing the top speed limit with the hunter t.b. Too and that has helped a great deal on longer journeys.
@@kfkwAL7 SoCal freeways are insane. It it's not dead stop bumper to bumper it's 85 mph. I'm able to move along at 70 no problem yeah. I did just get my new throttle body but haven't installed it. We even have streets around me that are as fast as 55 and now I'm used to it it's not that bad. But you have to understand my other bike currently is a CBR1000RR where I don't have these issues
In the UK our motorways are festooned with speed cameras and average-speed zones which are not easily cheated, and as kfkwAL7 stated this keeps the vast majority of motorists on our network at 60-70mph - which is a good thing. My Meteor is coming up to 1,000 miles and I've ordered the parts to open up the breathing and also a FuelX Lite to sort the AFR. I'm going to hold off on the cam until I've reached that 2,500-3,000 miles mark that you mention and then see how I feel. I haven't done a full-speed run yet but the bike gets up to an indicated 75 pretty swiftly before I back the throttle off, leading me to believe that - being a 2024 model - the ECU doesn't have the speed restriction that the earlier Meteor's have 😀
@@cmstevens4684 My speedo, even though having been replaced, is still 5 mph off. Im sure with the new throttle body and all the mods I'm sure I can do 70-75 actual no problem. That cam is really a zinger. 5hp to the wheel don't sound like much but it makes a HUGE difference to the ridability. Didn't affect the gas mileage to bad. Still average 75 mpg
Well thought out video . Ref rocker gear changer , I thought I might change it , but you not only get used to it but find it very nice to use after a few miles . I had a st1300 honda before and find the 350 meteor a superior and more useful bike in many ways . Also I find the mpg amazing at around 95 UK mpg ( 106 best tank) and the weight of the bike make handling and cornering so sweeet. I went for meteor over the bullet because of the mag wheels ( don't like spokes) and the riding position is much more comfortable 😁😁
A brilliant video, thanks for posting, fantastic scenery. I tried the Meteor but went for the Hunter due to back problem. Green bike looks even better in the wilds of Scotland. Have subscribed.
If you turn off the A815 after Creggans onto the A886, and then onto the B8000, you'll eventually arrive at Old Castle Lachlan, which is worth a visit.
Do British motorcyclists no longer greet each other? In my youth, before emigrating, we always lifted a hand in acknowledgement.. a common salute, if you will. We still do here in Denmark. But I seem to see nothing like it any more from the UK.
Certainly not like it was back in the '70's. Everybody waved/nodded to each other back then regardless of make or capacity of machine, and that gave you a feeling of belonging to a 'brotherhood' that just doesn't seem to exist anymore. Every town had its little gang of long-haired leather-jacketed teenagers and twenty-somethings who would meet up in an empty car park or market square in the evenings and at weekends, just to socialise and talk bikes. That culture seems to have died away, sadly, along with it's customs. I blame computer games, 'phones and social media for that - but if I see you I'll wave! 👋
Lovely roads and nice ride out. I hear you re. fine for country roads, but it IS underpowered. Hardly surprising, based as it is on the original RE bullet single. It's when you come to a moderate to steep long hill that you're going to be found wanting. Or overtaking even the smallest of cars. It's a real shame RE stopped selling the 500cc version. For context, the Japanese 250 4 stroke twin I had in 1980 does everything thing this does, but has that extra power and smooth refinement. I'm surprised more people don't buy them, although their prices are starting to get silly. It's a pretty machine, though. This is what I suspect really opens the wallets of the older rider.......nostalgia for the Britain of the late 1940's. And, at the end of the day, what's wrong with that?
I don’t find it underpowered (although mine is quite a bit different from stock) overtaking is fine, (your not going to be overtaking cars at more than 70) and I can go up hills in forth easily. This engine is the smoothest single I’ve ever ridden and I’ve had quite a few.
I just could not get used to the toe-heel shifter, my heel just does not flex enough so I have a toe only shifter from Tec here in California. Is that a touring screen from RE?
@@robertmillar191 Only had it for 2 days while my bike was serviced. But really liked it! Not the fastest but so much fun and comfortable. No negatives I can think of. Just inexpensive fun!
