Lovely bike, the only thing that lets it down , in my opinion, is the speedo and nav screen, clocks like in the interceptor would have been perfect or even just a more traditional analogue display that looks less modern. But this is minor detail, it’s still a lovely bike.

I am looking into buying either the Meteor or Hunter hence watching this video. Seeing mixed reviews regarding the suspension on both bikes. Can you tell me if they are comparable regarding a soft ride (which is what I want) or is one streets ahead in the suspension/ride. I like the looks of the Hunter best and it feels lighter lifting it off the side stand. Does the Meteor 19" front wheel make a difference to the ride quality. I like your laid back videos as I am 73 years old and been riding since 1967 so feel pretty much like you about biking.

Hey @easy4X4, (nice channel and thanks for your captions for those of us speaking other languages) Yep, under powered. I love it. I had, but found I don't enjoy, big bore and high speed bikes. While I enjoyed touring on bikes like Gold Wings, cruisers, sport bikes, the sweet spot has been sub 400cc bikes. Toured the lower 48 USA, and neighboring countries on them all. China & Japan on rentals. Neighbor south of me agrees with you on the mid range bikes and has toured with me 5 times. Neighbor to the north of me says we are both wrong and Hyabusa is the only bikes to have as a real man, and doesn't like touring. Yet the bikes you and I prefer are far from the top sellers. I'm happy they make bikes that you and I like instead of just the top selling bikes!!!!!

I've got my crash helmet on for the inevitable pile on but I've just bought a Meteor and my experience up until now is........................................boring! After riding my bonnie for 16 years the Royal Enfield is noisy, vibraty and gutless with a nonsensical gear changer. I had a 350cc Matchless in 1960 which would leave this in its dust. On the plus side it's comfy and cheap to run but bloody sleep inducing.

I used to do weekend tours to Europe (from England - furthest was East German/Czech border) on a 1958 Ariel that was unhappy over 40mph and really struggled up hills, so I find it hilarious (and a bit sad) when folks insist you need a 1+ litre adventure bike or some such to tour. My classic tours were fantastic. Some bonkers folks tour thousands of miles on bicycles with all their camping gear etc. Any motorcycle is easy really. One of the biggest limitations I've found over the years is range anxiety (ie. Needing to constantly manage fuel stops and avoid detours even if they look fun) and a big bike will have it where a small one will not. Simple as that. I'm glad the meteor is good for you. I'm going to be getting a Bullet and hope to be doing similar.

Being accosted by an angry Scotsman is unusual up here as most folk don't bother with all the gravel tracks. You can pretty much go anywhere up here.We don't have green lanes like down south but rarely does anyone bother you.We go to Wales regularly and Pembrokeshire national park is hard work.Rules, regulations and more rules. That's Loch Etive you were stopped at.It's a sea loch, but at the end beside the car park where the river runs in,more fresh than salty. The bike looks good and I'm seriously thinking about a RE now that I'm about to hit 60.Good info, cheers.

Totally agree with you on all points. I have a Meteor and a Hunter. I have regularly commented on your Meteor videos... A couple of months ago I bought a Honda MSX 125 Grom. It's the smallest bike I've owned in 50 years, but what a bucket full of fun. I think we forget the endless fun we had on the little bikes we started out on. The Cub and the Grom are mechanically similar apart from slightly different gearboxes. I think your Dartmoor is more interesting than my local German Dutch borders but fun is always around the corner.

I absolutely love my meteor, I bought it to use as my winter bike but I have found it so much fun that it’s become my go to bike and my bigger bikes don’t get as much use, I ride two up about 90% of the time and it copes almost as well as solo, it’s surprised me just how good it is with a passenger, the suspension is actually better two up than my far more expensive Triumph, it’s a proper work horse of a bike and I definitely won’t be parting with it, it’s a keeper 👍
