Thanks a million! This was a super helpful intro to the infectious rhythms of merengue.
Devo👌🏽🤣
Thank you 🙏🏽
Kalani I love how you make all you share simple to learn 🙏🏽
DEVO - Yes. Thank you!
Thanks from Argentina🙋🏻♀️
Hey , After a days hectic work - watching you and getting lost in the world of music really relaxes me . Thank you so much
Love it. Thanks. I like playing an open stroke on the 4-and-note with my right hand. Instead of the fast 16-notes. As a variation. On the conga.
Dazz Band and you sir are a national treasure.
Great introduction to merengue, Kalani!
That was fun. 😎
I played the percussion parts onto my RC-505 and merged them to one track. I also don‘t have a tambora, and no suitable plastic rod, so I used my timbales as a substitute. With a little EQ it kinda worked. 😁
Then (out of no reason - except feeling like it) I added a bass track. Then came the piano part, which took some time… 😄
Meanwhile I had found out that it had a 3-2 clave base. So, I revisited my bass part and after that it was pure fun improvising over my little backing track with an acoustic guitar and later a djembe - thanx to your wonderful initial boost.
Thank you, Kalani! ❤
Can never get enough Devo Kalani!
That's right.
Grazie mille, meravigliosa modalità di merengue ,un bacio dall'Italia❤
I definitely get that baking reference. Good one.
Go forward, move ahead, try to detect it! It’s not too late, to whip it into shape(i say it to myself frequently @ 67 yo to keep my chops MOVING FORWARD!!!!
Finally talking"bout merengue.
Thank you.
Loved this one, Kalani! Thanks!👍
Great - Thank you.
Thank you for putting this together a piece at a time. 😊
Always wondered about Merengue. Thanks for the video Kalani, and the DEVO!

Awesome class....as usual!
Who doesn't love a Devo reference.
Magnifico.💪💪💪💪💪💪
Like the sound. Well made video. Question: What kind of looper are you using? Thank You.
what is your opinion of electronic drums. like the drum synth Nord Drum 3p? the Swedish invention...
are you totally against the electronic drums, and if so, what is your belief of the mental health need to stay with acoustic instruments?
I am going back in forth in what to buy and where to start with the budget I have.. really like to hear your reflection and insight to this,,,.
What’s the difference between the 2 drums you use?
Hi...
I have a question
Why would you use guira over, for example, cabasa?
They seem to have similar sandy sound quality
But I see that it seems simpler to play on cabasa
Loudness?
Thank you
10:20 Yabba dabba doo!
Muy professor of percussion and me, ask you why dont you teach him about spanish castañets?..Thanks
I have some that are mounted, like the ones for Orchestras. I'm not skilled in the Spanish style, but I can ask around.
It is possible that you missed that one.......
🙏🏻👍🏻👌
Yaba dabba doo ? Lol
It would be better to get a real tambora instrument...
