For me, the biggest positive is that the people are very friendly and have a co-operative spirit. If your car breaks down in Saskatchewan, someone will help you. Where I live now, that is not likely as true.

Stumbled across this. I was born in Regina and I've lived in this province for most of my life, in the far north (LaRonge area) as well as on the prairies. I've spent time in Vancouver and Toronto and I've wanted to see Regina become an international city because in those cities there's EVERYTHING and there's always something different to do, new foods, new music, because there's so many cultures blending together that every idea can find expression. So the more people come from different parts of the world the better. Nobody likes winter, except we usually have winter festivals and stuff with ice sculptures and various games, in the north there's dogsledding, plus there's hockey, etc, but this year there's been none of that. I don't share your experiences coming from somewhere else, but I understand the shocks. As far as entertainment goes, in usual times we create our own scenes here. If you want to see certain kinds of entertainment, most of the venues/theaters etc. are very cheap to book, and you can make the money back easily without charging much for tickets, the cost of bringing the talent in might be an issue, but if you have a group of people willing to put in the money you have a good chance of making it back, and within your own communities you have people who play music too. We wanted metal and punk bands in Regina when I was a teenager so friends booked venues and saved up money to book a touring band for local bands to open for, then booked smaller venues for the local bands to play their own shows once people knew who they were... I know some people in the carribbean community here in Regina have done the same, but regardless of style it's the same for every kind of music, the public libraries in Regina and Saskatoon have theaters where you can bring a DVD and play a movie, the Galaxy cinemas have a deal where you can do that too, or just use as a performance stage. If you do it as a fundraiser in connection with a non-profit society you get discounted rates for booking venues. I've worked with people from around the world, new people's 'first winter' is always a fun story, I remember helping a Nigerian push their car out of a snowbank, he had dug himself in deeper trying to spin his way out, he was having an anxiety attack, at one point he was crying, it was his first winter, and had been told about snow but he never imagined it could actually be that bad, it was brutal for him, I felt bad for him but I also couldn't help laughing because what he was going through is an almost daily occurrance for people who grow up here.
I mean, I guess I'd prefer cold frosty winter than rainy winter in Vancouver. And in this way, I could say that I like winter - cold winter with crunchy snow beneath my feet :) It's quite romantic and exciting though.

Hi Gurdeep, there are schools spread out in most of the neighbourhoods. Some areas are newly developed and has more of our community, like Hampton, Kensington, Rosewood, Evergreen and Aspen ridge. Evergreen and Aspen ridge are newer communities so it will take a while for businesses to open up and transit to start operating in those areas. Hope this helps. Snowmobiles are a wise investment if you live in Skatch'wan, even in the city for those especially snowy days when average cars and trucks won't cut it, plus they're just plain fun to ride. When I was a kid in the 1970s living on a farm a couple miles North of the small town of Selkirk, Manitoba my dad would pull me and my 2 brothers to school on a toboggan behind his snowmobile if the roads were too snowy to drive.

My mom is from the Carry The Kettle Reservation but I was born in Winnipeg and raised in my dad's Irish/Welsh side of the family. I've been to Skatch'wan a few times for camping trips. More in the Northern Central areas where there are less people and farms and more nature. If you enjoy fly-fishing, ice-fishing, camping, horseback riding, trail bike riding, snowmobiling or have an interest in astronomy and astrophotography, Skatch'wan can satisfy your Fun Metre and it has amazing sky views at night as well as the Aurora Borealis.

I grew up in Winnipeg and now I reside in Regina. What I found living in Saskatchewan is that people here are more connected to their province. This is not the case in Winnipeg. Buy good winter coats and you can deal with our winters. Communities in the south west enjoy Chinooks. It will get up to +17 or so for a couple days in the winter. The strangest thing I find about Saskatchewan is that they do not observe Day Light Savings. Which is weird when most of North America does.
FYI, a little clarification here as "schools are NOT free" as a homeowner we ALL pay property taxes and part of that is directed to Education....this is paid whether you have children or not, whether you're young or old.
Very true, we mentioned that in another video too that part of the property taxes goes towards school. But also you do pay all sorts of taxes in other countries too but you dont get free education.
I live in Toronto and have been in regina couple of times as my wife was from regina. My experience was different as I did not like Saskatchewan. Based on the opportunities for jobs and other aspects. Housing is very cheap in terms of cost of living and future. In GTA alot of jobs in different fields. I would like to add 1. Primary education is free for all Canadians. In Ontario schooling till class 12 is free no need to pay anything. 2. Kids till the age of 18 have free medicines and dental too. 3. We have OSAP which gives loan till your education is done. Minimum payments will be like easy thing for anyone. 4. Insurance for vehicles and home is quite expensive. When I started with my first car it was $390 per month and brampton is terrible for insurance because of scams and fake insurance claims by desis. Now I pay 230 for 2 cars and 133 for home. 5. Homes are expensive ( currently even in pandemic housing market is grooming with rate of almost 20 percent). Expected to grow more once borders are open and new immigrants will pump more money into the system. 6. Winters are moderate like couple of snow storms and couple of cold weeks with-30 nothing crazy like Saskatchewan. Less snow less snow shoveling and safe to drive as more control over roads. 7. Tons of jobs in IT as I was in IT but in my domain very less openings forced me to switch so I opted trades and it's well paying make close to 100k. 8. GTA has quite big transit system from go bus go train to subways and now interconnection between different cities. Alot of highways 400,401,403,407,highway 7,highway 427 so on and new towns are growing fast. Only problem is peak time 401 and 403 needs further expansion because even though 4 lanes each side during peak hours it fails unless you want to pay on 407ETR but that also have small footprint and range. 9. Although houses are expansive but give very good return and with the growth its justified as housing is necessity. Likewise in India too specially in metro housing is expensive. I like Ontario because of diversity of Indian population along with other countries. More opportunities more jobs more resources more competition more growth.

We have lived in Toronto for a year before moving to Saskatoon and we really like it here better because we got good jobs and lavish life style. I live there, there is alot of good cities and alot of bad, worst being prince Albert (where I sadly live) and best being swift current, there is alot to do in Saskatoon, an other city in Saskatchewan, like a very big trampoline park, a place to play pool/billiards, 2 big Costco's, and the downtown looks extremely nice at night, Alberta is so much better than Saskatchewan imo like Edmonton, grand Prairie, Calgary, medicine hat and more

Thanks for watching our video. If i were you, I won't hesitate for even 1 second to move and grab the job opportunity with UofS. Winter is only bad for 3 months at the max or if we see the storm. Its good to arrive here between March to Aug and get drivers license and buy a vehicle before the winter arrives because its really hard to travel by bus in winters. Please subscribe and share. Yes, we don’t have -40 C winters. That would be exceedingly rare. We usually don’t even get many -20 days or lower nowadays. Today for instance, it is Dec. 20th, 2020 and it is +2 degrees Celsius as the high.
Not a good province, cost of living is low but you don't have anything for fun, 6 months winter, most of the time you have to stay at home and recism is the side salad.
In my view when people from south east asia talk about racism is non sense. In South east asian countries people discriminate on the basis of religion, caste and color. Big cities have lots of fun but at the same time cost of living is too high. You can either spend money on fun or on basic things.
I lived in Ontario five years and lived in Edmonton last fifteen years. I realy like Saskatchewan's landscape and the cost of living is very effordable.
for me I kinda like winters better then summers it’s because I’m a indoor person so in the summers I sweat and that forces me to sweat and mosquitos come in there I just hate it so I usually live in Saskatchewan and I’m don’t think winters are too bad

Good video I go to India after every 3-4 years, so that's not a issue. Driving time to work maximum 20 mins is very good thing. I have lived in Brampton, ON, I had to travel to Vaughan or Mississauga for 30 mins car traveling time. Edmonton or Calgary are also nice , cheaper cities than Toronto Vancouver Ottawa. Thanks. I grew up in Winnipeg and now I reside in Regina. What I found living in Saskatchewan is that people here are more connected to their province. This is not the case in Winnipeg.
Buy good winter coats and you can deal with our winters. Communities in the south west enjoy Chinooks. It will get up to +17 or so for a couple days in the winter. The strangest thing I find about Saskatchewan is that they do not observe Day Light Savings. Which is weird when most of North America does.

As someone who finds the change in times to be a big annoyance, I think I would like living somewhere where they don’t change the clocks twice a year.
FYI, a little clarification here as "schools are NOT free" as a homeowner we ALL pay property taxes and part of that is directed to Education....this is paid whether you have children or not, whether you're young or old.
Very true, we mentioned that in another video too that part of the property taxes goes towards school. But also you do pay all sorts of taxes in other countries too but you dont get free education.

I live in Toronto and have been in regina couple of times as my wife was from regina. My experience was different as I did not like Saskatchewan. Based on the opportunities for jobs and other aspects. Housing is very cheap in terms of cost of living and future. In GTA alot of jobs in different fields. I would like to add
1. Primary education is free for all Canadians. In Ontario schooling till class 12 is free no need to pay anything.
2. Kids till the age of 18 have free medicines and dental too.
3. We have OSAP which gives loan till your education is done. Minimum payments will be like easy thing for anyone.
4. Insurance for vehicles and home is quite expensive. When I started with my first car it was $390 per month and brampton is terrible for insurance because of scams and fake insurance claims by desis. Now I pay 230 for 2 cars and 133 for home.
5. Homes are expensive ( currently even in pandemic housing market is grooming with rate of almost 20 percent). Expected to grow more once borders are open and new immigrants will pump more money into the system.
6. Winters are moderate like couple of snow storms and couple of cold weeks with-30 nothing crazy like Saskatchewan. Less snow less snow shoveling and safe to drive as more control over roads.
7. Tons of jobs in IT as I was in IT but in my domain very less openings forced me to switch so I opted trades and it's well paying make close to 100k.
8. GTA has quite big transit system from go bus go train to subways and now interconnection between different cities. Alot of highways 400,401,403,407,highway 7,highway 427 so on and new towns are growing fast. Only problem is peak time 401 and 403 needs further expansion because even though 4 lanes each side during peak hours it fails unless you want to pay on 407ETR but that also have small footprint and range.
9. Although houses are expansive but give very good return and with the growth its justified as housing is necessity. Likewise in India too specially in metro housing is expensive.
I like Ontario because of diversity of Indian population along with other countries. More opportunities more jobs more resources more competition more growth.

We have lived in Toronto for a year before moving to Saskatoon and we really like it here better because we got good jobs and lavish life style. Winter can get crazy in any part of Canada so no complaints. We are really happy here and good to know that you are happy there. So that's what matters at the end of the day. I live there, there is alot of good cities and alot of bad, worst being prince Albert (where I sadly live) and best being swift current, there is alot to do in Saskatoon, an other city in Saskatchewan, like a very big trampoline park, a place to play pool/billiards, 2 big Costco's, and the downtown looks extremely nice at night, Alberta is so much better than Saskatchewan imo like Edmonton, grand Prairie, Calgary, medicine hat and more

Yes, we don’t have -40 C winters. That would be exceedingly rare. We usually don’t even get many -20 days or lower nowadays. Today for instance, it is Dec. 20th, 2020 and it is +2 degrees Celsius as the high.

Not a good province, cost of living is low but you don't have anything for fun, 6 months winter, most of the time you have to stay at home and recism is the side salad.
In my view when people from south east asia talk about racism is non sense. In South east asian countries people discriminate on the basis of religion, caste and color. Big cities have lots of fun but at the same time cost of living is too high. You can either spend money on fun or on basic things.

for me I kinda like winters better then summers it’s because I’m a indoor person so in the summers I sweat and that forces me to sweat and mosquitos come in there I just hate it so I usually live in Saskatchewan and I’m don’t think winters are too bad
we are moving to Saskatchewan in 4 weeks; sold our home in northern Ontario. We cannot afford to live in Ontario anymore; after 45 yrs. of marriage we are tired of things here and are excited for our retirement there.

I go to India after every 3-4 years, so that's not a issue.
Driving time to work maximum 20 mins is very good thing.
I have lived in Brampton, ON, I had to travel to Vaughan or Mississauga for 30 mins car traveling time.
Edmonton or Calgary are also nice , cheaper cities than Toronto Vancouver Ottawa.
