      This isn’t a troll, this is him reacting to Mo being too focused on himself and making a spectacle, and not enough on athletes’ pay. $10k for winners of ADCC is shameful, and they’re going to lose wayyyy more competitors before this year’s tourney. Looking forward to seeing who jumps ship. Hoping Mica backs himself to take the Milly under 80kg!

    I remember when the Crossfit Games started out, the prize money was super low. But as Crossfit grew, the prize money grew with the sport. You don't really see that growth with grappling.

    • @CombatArcade
      @CombatArcade  Месяц назад +5

      Great comparison too, seeing as most Crossfit fans are people who actually do Crossfit, and most BJJ fans are people who do BJJ!

      @thechaddad1609 Месяц назад +1

      @CombatArcade the interesting thing about the Crossfit Games is that it's sort of a similar situation to ADCC. Each crossfit gym is independently owned and operated and the Games are run by Crossfit Inc. Crossfit Inc. depends on sponsors and an annual license fee from crossfit gyms. Despite this, they've still increased their payouts annually.

    I'm very mixed on the topic. I will definitely support both events but I just feel like it's wrong to bail on an event that you already make commitments to. Of course, I understand the fighters wanting to be paid but like you said ADCC was not designed to
    make money. It was designed to bring the best grapplers in the world together and see who the best is like the olympics. Also, the fact that it's on flow will always hurt It's finances because it's locked behind a paywall and the greater audience will not even be aware of it. They should have stayed with UFC because then they could have at least promoted it on UFC and ESPN which would have come with more sponsors. Plus the fighters going into CJI only one will win a million dollars. The others will just walk away with 10k and risk never getting invited to ADCC again if CJI is a one off

    • @CombatArcade
      @CombatArcade  Месяц назад +1

      Fair points, but ADCC has made it clear to guys who have left for CJI that they're welcome back, they just have to go through trials. Also BOTH bracket winners will earn $1m, and the superfights will be for much more money than those fighters (Ffion, Gabi etc.) would have gotten at ADCC too..
