In this video, we're going to talk about the real pain of pleasure foods. I'm going to share with you what's really behind this, and what you need to do to overcome food cravings.
When we look below the surface of sugar cravings or food cravings, we see that people really love to feel pleasure. We try to relieve stress, upset, hunger, fatigue, and pain by eating certain pleasure foods. When you're feeling tempted by junk food cravings, you need to ask yourself what problem you're really trying to solve, and fix the real problem instead of covering it up with foods. As soon as you give in to food cravings, you want more and more.
Food triggers various responses that cause hormones to be affected. The hormones that are affected are serotonin and beta-endorphins. Your body doesn't have words to talk to you, but it will talk to you through cravings. Cravings are your body's way of communicating to you what nutrients it needs. There is a chemical imbalance that occurs with cravings and a nutrient imbalance, as well.
Be aware of what you're eating. Let's say you eat something small and sweet, that little treat could block fat burning for up to 72 hours. The bad foods can also create a plethora of other side effects and problems. Are chocolate, snacks, and other bad foods really worth the pain of pleasure foods?
How to overcome pleasure foods and food cravings:
    • You have to replace this bad food with healthy foods that still create a pleasurable effect. Increase the healthy fats in your diet. I provide many different recipes on my website that are great healthy alternatives to junk foods.
    • Increase the nutrients you're getting to help the body.

One of your very best videos in my opinion, because it addresses the addiction to the sugars which is my problem. I do not smoke, I do not drink alcohol, but man am I addicted to sugar. I really do not know anyone who isn't addicted to sugar. It really is a problem. I need to have my mouth sewed shut because I feel like that is the only way for me to keep from eating the wrong foods. That or getting put on a deserted island with no food sources other than fish, for example, Vancouver Island, like in the show ALONE! The only other option would be to have you follow me around everyday and constantly be telling me--"DON'T EAT THAT!!" Thank you Dr. Berg!!!

Holly L Instead of using the belief of addiction, I would replace that concept with habituation. Habitual is only 2weeks away.

Holly L You are spot on about sugar addiction. I kicked the sugar monkey a few times in my life but somehow it always manages to sneak back into my diet. It does get easier to clean out the junk but it’s still a painful process. Once you kick it though it’s a great feeling. I guess you have to keep your eye on the prize... your good health. Good luck!

I had such joy and satisfaction watching this video because just recently I was able (by applying Dr. Berg's lessons) to give up all 5 of the cardiovascular drugs I took for 15 years, and my pharmacist texted me that one of my cardiovascular drugs was due for a refill. With glee I texted "stop." Received a message back from them, "sorry to lose you." Ha ha ha 😎😍😻👍🙋🏻

Before my cancer diagnosis, I notice I start this craving for pretzels. I would stop by the company vending machine every morning looking for them. Knowing now (from Dr Berg's videos) that pretzels are processed bleached white flour (basically sugar), I was prob feeding and fueling my growing tumor.

8 different names allowed to be used for MSG by the FDA including "natural flavors" & "hydrolized yeast". FDA knows people figured out MSG is bad for our health so allowed other names to be substituted for it... FDA is a corupt agency run by food company puppets

Hi Dr. Berg, another great video! I have a few questions for you, when you mention "sugar" you are NOT referring to sugar from fruit, or are you? Does sugar from fruit trigger Seratonin? Also when you say increase FAT, what about Coconut oil? Great stuff. Lastly, What do you think about the 80-10-10 diet?
I totally agree about the medical community that " treat" the symptom and not the cause. You are wonderful! Thanks so much.

I think we can find compromise between pleasure foods and healthy ones . I just dont see myself eating "healthy" foods every damn time . Pleasure foods is not just mcdonal or kfc , there are also those beautiful , delicious meals my mother used to make , they are cooked and far from the junk we eat everyday .

I used to be on 5 different antidepressants on high dosages.I was 15.I had more deppresion and sucidal thoughts when i was on them then i had to began with.I suffered from severe fatiuge hallucinations and anxiety.Getting up in the mornings felt like i ran a 8 mile marthon without eating.I quit them abruptly some years later and suffered massive withdrawals like crazy.Looking back though i do not regret stopping.Deppresion has decreased,i still suffer from anxiety and exhaustion despite sleeping enough.I think my body still is recovering from it.

There's more to psychotropic medications and mental illness than just problems with serotonin or chronic fatigue. Perhaps fatigue and disappointment could be behind situational depression but what about clinical depression? Although this video is really great, I think there is too simplistic an idea stated here about mental illness.

The food industry even warns you and gives away the secret beforehand. Sick. This is how I have been explaining it to my teen. Fortunately, more people are label reading and questioning. But not nearly enough.

maybe we need to cultivate addictions to better quality foods why is it we dont crave high quality foods? maybe because we are malnorished? why are we malnorished? we eat to much junk food? why do we eat to much junk food? because we are malnorished, funny weird I know but this is the conclusions I am coming too after all these years of hearing this stuff. by the way I do crave quality foods alot, sometimes i want veggies like crazy, sometimes just fruit, sometimes just buckwheat pancakes with real maple syrup and lots of real butter. sometimes I just want my milk, with meal replacement pea protein powder, sometimes I dont want anything. by the way how do you get rid of skin tags, I thought of cutting them off but some of them are pretty painful when I try, yikes! I have alot of them, sometimes they itch like crazy. especially under my arms.

    • @TheRosa63
      @TheRosa63 8 лет назад +6

+TheRosa63 I know what you mean, and logically and realistically there is no differnt between what government does/allows and what the average person is allowed or not allowed to do. if we go to jail for something then the politicians and ceos, and such should also if they do the exact same thing. but this world is under a double standard, freedom for me not for you, because wicked people bubbles to the top (positons of authority or power) because they are willing to cheat, lie, steal and bribe, and step over others, while decent people are not. playing by the law book (real law) wont allow you to attain to power, because the price of power is compromise ones integrity.
