This is a fantastic video. I'm a right-handed English knitter (versus Continental) so I am sure I'm biased, but this is a far easier way to teach a beginner how to cast on using the long-tail cast on. Nearly all of the videos show the long-tail cast on with the tail and working yarn in your left hand, which is too complicated for most right-handed people just learning how to hold their yarn. (Lefties may want to try the other method.)
I am getting back to knitting after a 10 year break. I couldn't remember how to do this thumb cast on. I watched a series of other videos and either the camera angle wasn't right, they rushed through the explanation, or it wasn't clear which piece of yarn was where. Yours is wonderful and it finally makes sense again. Thank you!
Fran Today 02/18/2019 Finally , I learned how to do this essential step and would recommend it to other learners. This instructor patiently executed every step so that one could clearly see what to do next
Hello! This cast-on is great for either English or continental knitting. Once you cast on the stitches, you can start knitting in your preferred style!
Thank you for reaching out and bringing this to our attention! We absolutely understand how the yarn choice in this video is hard to see, and we're so sorry about that. In the time since this video was published, we have switched to using contrasting colors of yarn to demonstrate techniques in more clarity. We hope this has helped make our tutorials more accessible and useful!
This is the way I cast on most of the time! I know the slingshot method to but this seems faster! Thanks!

This deconstruction of the usual methods demonstrated for long tail cast on finally enabled me to learn this. Thank you!

Finally! Someone that I could follow and understand! You have no idea what a watershed moment this is for me! A thousand thanks!
Wahoo! Thank YOU!
Thank you so much for this. It really helped me ❤
Have just cast on on my own for the first time, thank you 👍
Thank you so much! The instruction manual for my learners kit was not helpful but this was!
Thank you for making it so easy to follow.👍🏻
Thank you so very much
Great demonstration video. I’m wondering if there is any specific advantage for a continental knitter to use this cast on method?

Informative, but white yarn on white background not so good.

Why? Why would a continental knitter use this cast on method? Is there some advantage or is this just a matter of preference?
Personally, I hate the original long tail method, but I don't think there's a difference. Matter of preference..
Backwards way of doing a thumb cast on. Been doing it 50+ years and this is odd
We love learning other techniques - Feel free to share!
nice - slow & repetitive, to understand
