Can I just say thank you to IMSA and the broadcast partners for another increase in picture quality, motorsport in 1080p60 is a real treat. Great to hear IMSA Radio on comms too, no-one better.
January is a massive month with Daytona 24 and Dakar. When I only watched F1 I tought winter is dead in terms of motorsports. I was so wrong...
Same here. Wasn't until watching on boards during Lemans last year that I really got back onto GT racing, both IMSA and WEC
There's a ton even outside of those, too, if you look to dirt oval racing and dirtbikes. The Chili Bowl, Tulsa Shootout, and start of the supercross season all run in the dead of winter. It's actually hard to keep up with all of the great motorsports going on in the middle of winter.
Don't forget the the Bathurst 12 hour as well! It'd normally be around now, but it's on Feb 18th this year.

It sucked that the GT3 grid didn't get a full qualifying session. The red flag come out with like 11 minutes to go and they only received an 8 minute session.
True but expect a wild race without proper data imsa will have no clue how to balance that class.
One year it rained during quali and the Lamborghini's were sandbagging. In the race they were pulling in lmp2's and passing them.
I was in daytona beach for the henry wendlestedt umpire school back in 2011 (i think) and i recall going to the cracker barrel right outside of the track and i think it was a practice or qualifying session and ill never forget the glorious NOISE that came out of this structure as the cars ripped around the track. One of my favorite memories to this day.
I think I agree with Nick Daman about the GT3 Corvette looking better than the old GTE version, which is weird because I always preferred GTE over GT3 as a category. I think it's primarily the different-shaped side air intakes and the new livery being more reminiscent of the old C7.R that make up the difference for me.
edit: That #18 Era Motorsport livery looks kind of like what a hypothetical BMW prototype livery from a couple of years ago could've looked like, back when they had blue, purple and white as their colors in Formula E as well as Motul sponsorship on their IMSA cars. That would be a great color scheme to bring back if BMW RLL ever wanted to enter a third car.
I like GT3 version much more. I don't know why, but the GTE one really looked out of the place for some reason.

Yeah, it's impossible to know every single driver. Would have been good to have the brands emblem alongside the cars number. No idea why it seems impossible to do for them.
Honestly, I'm a bit dissapointed that only one Porsche 963 it's in the GTP' Top 5 for the Daytona 24h 😕
But very happy that Pato O'Ward 🦆🇲🇽 with the United Autosports #2 and the AO Racing' 'Rexy' Porsche 🦖💚 are on Pole Position in LMP2 and GTD Overall respectively‼️🏅
And a great 4th place in GTD Overall for the MDK-HighClass Porsche!
Also very expectant on how will be Thomas Preining' 1st Daytona 24h race in the Andretti Motorsport' Porsche 👀 Sure he will make a great race!
Not so many Porsche's in GTD (5 in total) but the few are where they should be 🔝
Unlike last year, I have confidence that both the 963 LMDh and the 992 GT3 R are more faster and reliable so have potential it could won the race overall and in their respective classes 💪

The commentators don't know the ultimate American Rock Paper Scissors move... Shoot. Also, a cool function of the Mustang's wing is that the leverage point for the downforce is just behind the center of the rear wheel. It might be applying the downforce more evenly across the rear instead of just pushing down the very back.

Every year you can tell the commentators rarely look at the live stream because then never comment on crashes as they happen. I watched this stream for less than 5 minutes and a 963 crashes with nary an acknowledgment from the commentator.
Andrew, I have just watched this back and, accounting for the delay from working off site and having to send audio back to London and then to Nth Carolina, it is clear that the guys talked about the 963 as soon as they saw it. There were also some audio drop outs which were a result of the remote working and the connection. Hope that helps.
