Foil cover Batman #135 (legacy 900), the one with arkham batman, keaton batman, etc. I don't normally go out of my way to buy a more expensive version of a volume, especially for a series i dont really follow anymore, but considering the contents and the fact that its the 900th volume, I had to.
Oh boy. This one will be embarrassing. Back in 2022, I paid $540 USD for a copy of Absolute Transmetropolitan Volume 3. At the time, it looked like it would never get reprinted, and I had plenty of money on hand because I'd spent the previous two years working from home, not travelling, not going out. Just watching RUclips streamers show off their wonderful out-of-print books, and driving suckers like me off to eBay in search of available copies. Subsequently, I became aware of Warren Ellis being a problematic person, and now the book is slated to be reprinted this year.
Not sure if it has been said but the DC vs Marvel does not look like a glued binding. Essentially if you can see the curved grouping of pages together rather than each page heading strait down into the glue, it would be sowen binding. They still put glue on the text block of sowen binding, to attach the ribbon and such. Just open up the book to the middle of one of those groupings(signatures) and you will see the threads.
This book was such a fun read! Other than the Xmen/Teen Titans crossover the stories aren’t trying to blow you away with the writing but what I felt throughout was just the joy from all of the creatives getting the chance to play with all of the toys at once. It’s comic book history and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to get the Amalgam Omni when I was originally going to pass on it
@@ttrain85 yeah I’m Really on the fence with the amalgam Omni, I think the concept sounds fun and I’ve read Zero percent of that content in the past but can’t decide if I want to save up for it 🤔
@ I have the old oop trade of Marvel vs Dc and one of the Amalgam trades so I was especially hesitant but the Omni does a good job of mapping it to tell more of one cohesive story as opposed to a series of one offs so since you mentioned that as a downside of this Omni I thought it might interest you. I’d say it’s worth it for the comic book history alone but I definitely get your hesitation
@TheComicBookReport ha! Yup always got choices to make. Some are always easier than others. One of our mutual friends believes that the amalgam omnis will be going up on the secondary market soonish for cheap. So maybe you'll luck out and he'll be right and can score a nice near mint copy for cheap.
I collect everything from the classic Marvel era, so this was a must buy for me. It's the only DC book in my collection (not counting the MAD collections that DC has the rights to). I am in no hurry to read it since I never understood the appeal of the DC heroes. Someday I will get around to reading it.
@@ps2gamingforever364 there’s definitely a novelty to the stories without a doubt. A cool collectors’ item to be sure. I’m not sure I realized you were almost exclusively marvel. There are no DC characters you enjoy?
@@TheComicBookReport Back in the day, I would occasionally watch a DC tv show or movie, but I never liked them enough to want to read DC comics. I was always Marvel. For me Timely/Atlas/Marvel is all I need, plus EC Archives, and Warren Publishing (Creepy, Eerie, etc).
Yes, this was the one I was most interested in also. I’m old enough to remember these being originally released. Really good times. The stuff that arrives after X-men/Teen Titans is not bad. More a victim of the 1990$. I’m still getting the 2nd volume as some of those Amalgams are awesome, yet a victim of the era of release..
Awesome. I went with the DM covers for this and amalgam. I've even tracked down a jla/avengers paperback as a companion to this Omni. Awesome piece of history right here 🔥
@TheComicBookReport tbh I got lucky on eBay and found the trade for about $40. It was in immaculate condition as well. Shame it couldn't have been the slipcase edition. I missed out on that one
Managed to pick up the *DC Versus Marvel Omnibus* from my local comicbook store in the UK for £100 which I was happy with, for fear of missing out. Watched as it dropped as low as £80 on Amazon UK and was available for a while. So was more laid back with approaching the *DC Versus Marvel Amalgam Omnibus* expecting the same trend after it being priced at £135 at release in the same LCS, it sat at £114 on Amazon UK for a week without dropping before going out of stock. It's showing as £125 via Amazon US - tempted but it was more the crossover title I really wanted, with the Amalgam title feeling more a spin on characters rather than something I would have sought out personally.
I have kind of a different kind of fomo in that i don't really buy expensive omnis, but if it is an Omni I want at a really good price the fomo really kicks in. It's great that I am getting amazing deals but I have pushed past my budget a few times just to get that "great" deal.
My biggest FOMO is probably the Savage Avengers Omnibus. I was afraid that Marvel may not reprint it after letting go the publishing rights of Conan the Barbarian. I haven't regretted buying it a bit. It is a really great omni. One of my biggest positive surprises among omnies.
It may be very of its time, but it's fun. It's a shame that JLA/Avengers is not included, and how that particular crossover has been made difficult to get (a very limited edition TPB after George Perez death is the last time it was made avaible, after years of being out of print). JLA/Avengers is also the last time DC and Marvel were able to get together to collaborate, and who knows if it'll ever happen again. I imagine these days we'd get stuff like an Iron Man/Batman crossover, or Harley Quinn/Deadpool.
Hello, this is kinda offtopic but I like to recommend you one batman story, so I recently read peter tomasi's batman detective comics mythology arc and it has become one of my all time favourite batman stories ever, I was checking to see some reviews of it and surprisingly not many people have reviewed it. I think this arc really nailed who batman is as a character, I also loved them showing all of batman's teachers and mentors to remind us why he is so much more than just a crime fighter, writers like tom king portrays him as just some dumb brute and forgets that he is much more than that , it showed some mentors that zdarsky's batman the knight mini series showed but it also showed some other mentors that zdarsky left. It's an awesome arc and I think very underrated in my opinion, I think tomasi needs to write main batman run someday.
@TheComicBookReport great 👍, please make a video on it or maybe his entire detective comics run. I also read his next arc about Arkham knight liked that too not as much as mythology but still thought it was good.

Good point of clarity. I see a ton of glue in the binding is it sewed as well, perhaps yes?
