His turn as Derrick Rose's injury replacement/backup in 2014-2015 led to one of his best years. Thibs was so good at taking older role players or past-their-prime undersized point guards and making them look too good for us to be able to afford to resign like he did with DJ Augustin, Nate Robinson and even John Lucas III. Statistically, Brooks was pretty close to his breakout year stats in his seasons with the bulls.

Nets fans were disrespectful for chanting that. Kidd gave that franchise its best run.
The next season, the Nets would lose 70 games. And Kidd would evolve into a jump shooter and help the Mavs win a championship.
    That's kharma.

Skills alone (sometimes) don't make a player great.
The team, coach & their style can greatly affect how a player does and how they are viewed.

      Craig M
That's exactly who I had in mind. Leonard is one of my favorite players. But if he was on the Bucks, Jazz, or Magic... he would be viewed as just a good solid player. I believe the same with Ginobli. I think Pop has made him into a Hall of Fame contender.
Rondo also flourished under Doc's direction. Viewed as the best defensive point guard & best play makers. After he left Boston... he is almost mediocre at best.

About 1993 I saw Scottie Pippen at a Graeter's Ice Cream. I said hello and then told him that when I was 22 years old I was actually a little better than him. He sort of smiled and rolled his eyes. I then added, "It's true. Of course when I was 22, you were 4."

@Heather Watson: Pippen is not exactly a midget, so I noticed him as soon as he entered Graeter's. He stood in line and I had a couple of minutes to come up with something halfway clever.

I dont know if I would put devin Harris in this category. He did get a bad knee injury. Same with Josh Howard, Josh Howard had like 2 good years and was an all star and then he fizzled out

So I couldn't help but notice that everyone except for Mike James and Bobby Simmons all got injured the following year 🤔 I wonder if that may have had anything to do with it. But I guess that would make too much sense.

What about Nicholas Batum, had an all star caliber year in 16-17 but fell off afterwards

Bobby simmons had an ankle injury, he was actually more efficient with the bucks, taking 3 less shots but only scoring 3 less points.

Lol I remember that, he was crazy. Also Eric Gordon went best mode the year he was traded to NO in that cp3 deal and dissapeared for a while. He still inst himself from that year with the clippers
