I watched the fight in slow mo from beggining to end. I came to the conclusion that you score it in three ways without too much controversy. 7-5 for hagler, 7-5 for Leonard or a 6-6 draw. Definitely wasn't a robbery. Hagler really did himself a disservice coming out orthodox in the beginning and thinking he could outbox ray. Ray was really picking him apart at certain points until the marvin's relentless stalking caught up to him. He was also on his bike for most of the fight while hagler was plotting. Leonard was definitely exerting more energy. I do think however if it was 15 rounds like it should've been hagler might've stopped him or outpointed Leonard. Due to Leonard being on his last legs, no pun intended. I also felt hagler didn't go to the body enough and was lucky his head is made of cast iron because he was constantly being reckless, taking shots he didn't need to. In the end it was a beautiful fight. Leonard's footwork and pure boxing art was great. Also hagler's amazing conditioning and relentlessness was a treat to watch. A close but amazing battle. Just my take.

I remember seeing a picture of Hagler wearing a tee shirt with 'Duran Will Fall' written on the back. Of course Duran never did but Mugabi hit the canvas in the later rounds.

Everything he did has so much rhythm, like he was dancing.

    • @SPIDERM0OSE
      @SPIDERM0OSE 2 года назад +1

He definitely was a rhythm boxer.
I wouldnt say he was like dancing, typically yer not setting up strikes when yer dancing, unless its Capoeira.
Boxing is all about rhythm, Robinson was a tap dancer after boxing, Ali, Leonard & Roy Jones were all rhythm guys too. Larry Holmes as well.
Thing about Hagler was his versatility & unpredictability, nobody could upset his rhythm.
There was no formula for "getting to him"
      Duran got to Leonard.
      Frazier got to Ali.
There was no getting to Hagler, he had too many strings to his bow.

@@SPIDERM0OSE Nicely said. It's the speed ball work and skipping in this footage that got me. He looks like he's moving to the beat of a song in his head. It's spot on rhythmic. The musician in me couldn't help notice.

      @@Lee-bz2xn
He more than likely trained with music.
Skipping for sure helps but to me skipping gives coordination more than rhythm.
Shadow boxing, especially to music would give him that dancer look (that I thought you seen) that I see when he fights & its when hes flinching n feinting n bobbing before he attacks you can see his rhythm, hes reading your reactions/body language but with Hagler each flinch, feint or bob he made gave him 4 or 5 attacking options on you, where as a good/great boxer, as opposed to an all time great one like Hagler was, may give himself 3 options.
Hagler was just so versatile & very difficult to successfully attack tactically/consistently & he was equally offensively good. Ambidextrous in both attack & defence & he fought with a beautiful balance between the 2.
100% dedication to his craft, hours upon hours shadow boxing then sparring, applying & then fine tuning the concepts he had been thinking about during every quiet moment he had.
Hagler was no accident or no fluke, he was kinesthetic intelligence & tactics, more master craftsman than artist.
      A Demolition expert.
