More on the Yamaha RD disaster in the New Year
Great video , easy fix and nice cheap newish bike ,look forward to the next one .
Thanks Richard. I’ve got a bid in on something else. I really should decide what to do with the Kawasaki though.
Interesting buy that, I like so many shy away from any cat. bike. I will watch with interest. Thanks for uploading good stuff.
I would too as a rule. Maybe beginners luck but I am still amazed that this bike was written off
It’s always a gamble buying from Copart etc but you aced this one. Cracking bike.
I think I got very lucky, sadly not much to video.
That's ridiculous. So for less than two hundred quids worth of parts it was written off. No wonder we all pay so much for insurance.
I agree it’s totally crazy. It must have been assessed remotely as there is not a mark on the bike itself
Nice stream mate Cant wait to see your RD . Happy Christmas👍👍👍👍
Thanks cbrider, there hopefully will be more of the RD in January. Happy new year
I feel the Loss Adjuster was considering that the forks and frame could have been damaged, and it wasn't worth him taking the risk that the Insurer could have received a hefty bill for that. Whereas you took a flyer and got lucky.
Blinking Copart fees are toppy😂
Yes so that's a surprise - an expected big job that was actually not much of a job! I guess that's good luck??! I agree with the prior comment... The inability to repair vehicles at reasonable cost costs all of us in so many ways. At least on a bike you can do a lot yourself.... Best of luck with the sale process. As a child of the 70s personally I think it's a great looking bike, though it needs an inline four to really replicate that green Z650C I couldn't afford as a lad! ;)
I was hoping that there would be more to do so that I could make a couple of videos, taking the tank for a paint less repair and the forks for straightening.
Hi chris, insurance company will write all motorbikes if someone has put a claim on them, my friend had his parked bike knocked over at tesco and it had a broken indicator and a slight scratch on the rear panel, cost to repair was £110, i told my friend just pay for it himself but now the bike has a cat N on it...sometimes its not worth going to insurance, god bless, i like the z650 all the best!
Thanks T3. I wondered why the owner didn’t repay the bike themselves, I would have. I suppose they could claim from the third party
Great video just subscribed 🇬🇧👍
Hi Richard, thanks for subscribing, really appreciated
Great job….the but is in the tank. There is a £500 repair / repaint there. That is unless a very clever painter can do some “local repairs” to save a couple of hundred?
I thought the tank was dented from the Copart photos. But it turns out there are no dents at all. On visible “stone chip” on the front tank seam and a tiny pin prick one higher closer to the fuel filler
When main dealers charge in region of £100+ ph and assesors don't factor in fair wear and tear slight marks on parts from use even on a ultra low mile bike it
Believe insurance cat n means cosmetic damage non structural only.
Thanks for your comment. My feeling is that someone wanted this bike written off for whatever reason.
The problem is the dealers, they charge top whack for spare parts especially when it comes to insurance claims. I can’t understand insurance companies, surely it would be cheaper to toss £400 at this bike for spare parts and give it back to the owner.
Couldn’t agree more.
Nice rebuild and merry crismas
Whats the meaning of "categorized"?
Thank you. I’m no expert but I believe damaged vehicles in the uk are categorized B for breaking only, S for structural repairs required, N non structural damage X stolen recovered and U uncategorized.
Nice bike but I only have A2
I think that this bike is an A2 compliant. One thing I could do is derestrict it?
Is it still for sale.?
Still for sale?
It is but unfortunately I'm at home in France and I'm unlikely to be back in England until June
