Maybe it can take a more slice of life approach with some quest taking in a peaceful world

That would be pretty neat, like a collection of individual one-shot stories!

Honestly it would be refreshing if mashima made a fairytale next generation, but like a slice of life or a spin off of one of the series, but in the slice of life settings with some question funny moments in a little bit of action, nothing too intense or life or death just like a little comedy fight if that makes sense

I'd definitely like to see the main cast as parents cause I think it'd be super funny, but I don't think it'd be too interesting if it explicitly focused on their kids.
On another note, I'd really like to see Mashima try writing something that's not battle-shounen. His strongest point is his heartwarming and fun character writing, so I really think he could pull off any genre he wanted as long as he keeps that aspect.
I don't know if it's true, but I saw somewhere that he's really into mystery. A detective series with some romance would be really cool to see from him. With that, there could even still be lots of action.

I would love a slice of life or romance/comedy kind of anime in the FT verse but sadly Hiro Mashima has said that he's not very good at writing those kinds of genre which is why he sticks to Battle Shounen and most of his arcs feel the same imo

I do remember him saying that slice of life/ rom com isn't exactly his best and I can see why he's sticking to the battle shounen genre. There could be something he leaves open ended in 100 Years Quest which could lead into a next generations kind of story.

@@TheLuckyRave Eww not at all. Why would he make a next generation fairy tail in the first place?? This aint Naruto, and just cause naruto did it doesnt mean that every one has to copy paste the same thing. Ohh godd and do not get me on slice of life genre (which is basically a magnet for folks who cant live their own life) 🤮. And the Griege and Nashi ship is utterly disgusting and unoriginal tbh.

it's all good, I can certainly see the reason of why there shouldn't be a next generations story at all. I just know it's been something that's been running around the community for a long time, ad thought i'd share my two cents on it.
I'd be fine either way whether we get it or not.

IDK maybe the kids picking up where their folks would leave off in the 100 years quest?

I just want to see Nalu sail. If I get them to sail I do not care if there will be the next generation, I mean I'll be happy cuz I'll see more of them but for how hiro mashima is teasing all the ship(Nalu the most) I just want it to happen

You can say that again, 18 years of build up and anticipation which I'm pretty sure Hiro knows what that moment between Natsu and Lucy is going to be which will most likely happen in 100 Years Quest!

I'm a massive fairy tail fan so I would be all go a next generation anime but, you raise a good point of "what it's going to be about?". There really is no hidden bad guys to take care. The only possible option I can see is maybe doing a throw back to the original time line of the dragon slayers (if you know you know). But then that's the past not the future. And even this option would only cover a hand full of characters.

Same I really love Fairy Tail too and a next generations story would be so awesome to witness as a concept, but once I sat and thought about it... I just asked "What would the story be?" and I just pondered about that question for like hours without much of an answer.
Doing a throwback to the original timeline of dragon slayers would be cool, but like you said it would only cover a small section of characters.
The only thing that comes to my mind if we tackle a concept that was vaguely mentioned in the original series, or if we do have some like small loose end that happens when 100 Years Quest concludes.
I can easily say that we'll just have to wait and see where things go as we progress through this current arc.

@@TheLuckyRave I was thinking of a concept that whlas vaguely mentioned in the original series and what really stood out to me is the I fished story of the exeeds.
      SPOILER ALERT
Technically speaking there were 100 eggs sent to earthland but we only ever see 4 of them (happy, Carla, lector, frosh). We find out the happy and Carla have parents but they really don't do anything else with that. And then all of the exceeds ultimately relocate to earthland but we don't hear anything about them anymore. I know that there is a plot line in 100 years quest involving edolas so maybe they will expand with that. In fairy tail dimension and time jumping seems to be a constant factor. In terms of them doing a new generation anime maybe moving forward with a plot similar to what boruto did would be a possibility (In boruto they took the kids to the past to solve a problem and they were interacting with the younger version of their parents).
I would totally love to see that. Can you imagine watching juvia and grays kid see how there parents interacted specifically how juvia was 😂.

Absolutely, but keep the original characters as father and son and daughter.
If they follow that story telling I think we'll be just fine.
