- Accessibility is something many people don't seem to talk about when it comes to custom keyboards. Handwiring enables us to make nearly anything and in today's video, I'll be building a macro pad specifically for someone who games with just their thumb. The keys are both spaced out more horizontally and on different heights to help reduce the chances of misinputs.

Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for your help! The time, effort and planning that went into this board was phenomenal, and it was easy working with someone that has experience and creativity such as yourself. This board is a god-send and we also hope that it can help others with accessibility needs. You are truly an awesome individual!
One recommendation, I heard you say you were worried about the weight, I've personally added adhesive tire wheel weights to macro pad like devices to keep them at least weighted down against the cable tugging on it. Easy and relatively inexpensive (at least for someone springing for aviation connectors!) Way to add weight! Just need to design a little bit of space for them to stick. They stack pretty well too.
I’ve used larger weights before, specifically my wireless corne build. Thank you for reminding me, can’t believe I forgot about that method for this build haha
Wonderful project Scott!
This is freaking great. Hopefully this will inspire more people to create their own accesible boards
Well done! Good on you for helping out someone in the community! Also a brilliant idea to use resin and cure it with UV light to keep the switches in place. I was going to use hot-glue for my newest project but this seems more sturdy and cleaner looking!
I love UV resin. I use it whenever I can because it’s so easy to use :)
What kind of resin is this? That's so brilliant
Dude this rules. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!
can you make an explanation video on keyboard knobs?
Wowzers! That’s really cool!
this. I love this. I love this aspect of diy we often overlook. yeah ok my ergodash board is a one size fit a lot of people, but this is something so more important. the ability to create something custom for someone who has a very specific need without having to fight the cost of a mass scale production. also the fact that people can itterate on it to create a different version to combat a different problem.
I love your videos and the production level is way higher than the view count. keep up the good work.
nice! how did you know how far to space each switch for the ones at an angle?
Is it possible to use this as a stream deck?
Sure! Just assign whatever macros you want to whatever buttons
Ethix! You must fly quads.
Yup, still trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my videos lol
can i use stranded wire?
Yeah, that won’t be an issue for this build and is what I used.
Nice Joe! I have a friend who can only use his thumb on his left hand. He currently buys keyboards that have a row on the left to compensate for this. His name is OneHandFPS, you can actually google that, PC Gamer did an article about him awhile back. I would love to connect you guys to build/buy one of these. Can I message on your shop for that?
Yeah, shoot me a message on Etsy or discord.
Could you check out @techyesterday’s game pad with the joystick and possibly try to recreate it?
