This channel is one of the best elelctronics/DIY channels on this page. Amazingly detailed projects with lots of work put into them instead of useless short lived stuff just to make content. Here, the project is the star. And then there's even source files?? Dude, you're amazing!
I Really enjoyed your project. I once heard someone say, "Why Buy Something when you can spend 3 times as much making it yourself" hehe. I enjoyed your sense of Humour! Keep it up, I'll be using this project as a basic guideline for my own Ideas, Which often are above my Pay grade. Nice to have these cutting edge tools too.
Hi Sebastian , it would be nice to see something more about your workshop, especially I am interested in more info about your CNC station and enclosure 10:15. Your videos are awesome btw, keep doing, even if not so often but still great value for us, thank you
Hey Sebastian, you are the right example for "Where there's a will, there's a way".....your videos are just amazing and very informational...Never ever lose your pace.,.Carry on
You're definitely an introvert like me. I find myself deep into whatever I'm working on and when someone disrupt me, I have no way of getting back to that work again. So If I have something going on that i would need to finish, no one, I mean not a single person or event should ever disrupt me or else I would procrastinate for days.. Anyway, I wish I could replicate your project to help me work even faster because I am currently bombarded with lots of task and I can't keep up anymore. I feel like quitting these days. I don't "alone time" anymore and that drains me BIG TIME.
I couldn't fail to notice you have a Mate cup (chimarrão or mate as it is called in Portuguese and Spanish) beside you here at 0:47. Have you ever been in Brazil, Argentina or Paraguay? I never saw someone that is not from Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay use one (in fact here most people used ones made of a plat called cabaça or porongo).
I absolutely love mate!!! I use it practically every day. Fun fact: do you know the brand "Amanda" that makes yerba mate? The original founder was actually Polish who lived in Buenos Aires :) Sadly, I’ve never been to either of those countries! I’m really hoping to visit one of them someday. I used to have a cabaça matero, but it fell apart. Now I’ve got one made of Palo Santo wrapped in metal, and I’m really into it-it’s awesome!
Respect, I admire your skills and great representation. For years I've been thinking about an input tool like this for SolidWorks and Fusion 360 instead of a 3DConnection mouse. They are all beyond my financial reach. Since I would like to have an illuminated font, my question is - could the font be completely lasered and poured with clear transparent resin?
Wow, you're crazy. And I mean that in a 100% positive way 😄👍 Wood.... And I must say I HAVE to make a pad too, to get faster working in DaVinci. Great idea! I also often follow the "where's the fun in that" rule 😁
I would suggest using unified remote with an old phone/tablet(or just your daily driver) to get your workflow down and fine tune what you want on it. I'm still planning the physical version, but I used this for a game controller.
Classic or modern ? I like both of them but it seems the buttons on the classic one are a bit too much "floating" for my liking. Too much space between them or a bit out of line? I'm not sure, maybe it is just that the plastic of the keys shows a bit too much - something that would be easy to fix though. I started a similar project a few years ago with one of those (optical) CNC jog wheels. At first I did not like the clicky feeling of the detents but when I swapped this for one with a smooth wheel, I immediately loved the clicky style. It gives me a much better control when scrolling frame by frame so this is my personal preference.
@@SmartSolutionsForHome 😊😉😁 I wanted something like this for myself (I do a little video editing here and there), but a commercial unit is too expensive, and I didn't even know where to start if I wanted to build my own. So I really enjoyed your video! If ever I have the time, I'll revisited your video and build my own 😁
The project is very interesting as a concept, as a circuit solution, although for me personally it has no practical interest. It's great that the project is revealed in great detail. I look forward to new interesting projects. Good luck!
Great project !!! I was looking for options for a macropad and "found" your channel... Untill now, by far, it's the best option out there. Any specific reason for choosing STM32 as the heart of the unit ?? I was more declined to use pi pico, since I can use micropython for programming...
hey, thank you very much for this very clever solution. I only recently discovered video editing for myself and of course I also wanted to buy the speededitor, but it's too expensive and I don't know what to do with the multicam buttons. So thanks again for your work.
I'm glad you like my video! If you are just starting your adventure with video editing, you don't need to invest in additional hardware. Learn the keyboard shortcuts well instead. After a while you'll decide for yourself whether you need extra keyboard to help.
An I'm back again 😁 One year later and a few revisions I made a few revisions of my jog shuttle. I also switched to the magnetic angle encoder. No clicky style wheel anymore, just a smooth rotary. I now have a programmable wheel that I can jog across the timeline with a programmable number of steps per revolution. I can now jog with 1s, 10s or even 30s per rotation of the wheel. I started using a Raspberry Pi Pico but its USB interface cannot handle the large amount of key press/release events I needed and I switched to a Teensy 4 to get reliable,up to 1000, key press/release events per second without lagging behind. It's still only a shuttle and not 'product ready' but since I now have a few friends that make videos, I do need to make this into a full usable product so I think I have to stop messing around investigating what I need and just copy most of your design (but still using the Teensy4 because that's what I am used to program)
My Knob isn't quite working like in the original Speed Editor. In JOG mode, it acts as the RIGHT/LEFT Arrow (1 frame), and in SCRL mode, it's Shift + RIGHT/LEFT Arrow (1 second). The SHTL mode is a bit more complicated. Here, I had to create a separate function that monitors the current acceleration level and responds to the next "tick" accordingly. You can find the entire code on my GitHub: github.com/sokolsok/SS4H-Video-Editing-Keyboard P.S. Thanks for the comment :)
By "other device" do you mean something other than PC/MAC? Most likely yes. I haven't tested it with anything else, but it should be detected by any device as a common HID keyboard.
DAMN, thats great, only thing to make it better would have been if it was Bluetooth really, being able to use it with an iPad would be awesome (I would also add a iPad slot to hold it lol but thats just me...
Another great video! Thanks for putting the time and effort into making these videos, they are a great inspiration for my projects (which I'm mostly too lazy to share, I'm sorry!).

awesome keyboard. Was about to design my own but might just use this one ;) One thing I would do differently is the firmware. If you use QMK and ad VIA support you can easily remap the buttons with a nice gui software (VIA) but that's personal preference. Great project and video 👍
