😊 what about something pretty different? NANA. I use to watch it on MTV anime night, I was 13, I re-watch it just two years ago, you will love the music and, believe me, it's not a "girl anime", there is a lot. Give it a chance, many people forgot this anime and, I was watching it together with full metal back in my teen days, now I'm 28 .
Cyberpunk Edgerunners. Also a relatively short one because it's just one season, but dare I say the only thing that fully came out in recent years (AoT doesn't count, that's been going for years), it's probably only bested by Arcane
Fireforce is another interesting show with an underlying mystery, great characters and cool fight sequences. There is some unneccesary fan service at times though. Well worth the watch.

Ling has had so many incredible moments in the show thus far, but in this episode he was, in my opinion, at his absolute best. Not only did his care and grief about Fu, Lan Fan and Buccaneer reaffirm my belief he would be a great ruler that cares about his people, but his and Greed's battle against the Central forces is incredible.
Soo true! That moment in the Elevator with Ling and Greed always gives me chills!
Personally I'm not surprised greed didn't interfere remember at this point greed remembers that Bradly killed his friends so he know exactly what ling was feeling at that point
You fail to see the human part of homunculi, Greed is more than just greed, even Gluttony had other feelings and thoughts than eating, he didn't just care about food, he cared about Lust too. They are not determined by their sin.
I don't understand why they're saying that Greed wasn't concerned for Fu
Sins are intrinsically a very human thing. Even after father separated the sins to their baser states, they were still incredibly human. Great observation.
The concept of Greed is self centered. It's what you can get and keep, it's what YOU want and only what you want. Greed the character as no attachment to Fu or Lan fan or lizard guy (second greed anyway). Greed see's and feels through Ling, he is learning to care about others via Ling. The only reason Greed would of given the note to Lan Fan is because it would keep Ling from fighting to take over, therefore it was self centered.
@@mattgarrett2583 you can greed social relationships, maybe what Greed wants is having Lin, Fu and Lan fan by his side. Even the previous Greed wanted people by his side. He doesn't like to be alone. Father made the homunculi to get rid of his humans traits, What is most human that the ambition to human warm and human relationships?

Mustang’s “I’ll kill you!” always hits me hard. The mix of rage and grief, seeing a loved one cut down and not knowing yet if they’re still alive, was captured so well. Fantastic voice work.

I actually stopped watching Fullmetal Alchemists for about 2 weeks when Riza got hurt. That’s how mad I was 😭 she’s my favorite

That’s what happened to me when I watched the first series and watched the Nina episode, except it was years before I could go back and finish the series. Lol!
It’s still one of my most shocking episodes of an Anime for me.
Fun fact: the old lady from the scene where her and her husband are talking about the radio reuses the same character design as Dante, the main antagonist from the 2003 series which branched out into it's own storyline around the time of Hughes' death. A cool easter egg for those who watched the first series!

It’s so funny in the beginning of the series you’d never expect to end up cheering for the homunculus to win as it’s fighting all the central forces😭 GreedLings arc is a wild ride
Also on a more serious note the writing for Lings character has been great, especially the way his own greed is ironically a result of his care and devotion to people… the line “I’ve finally gained immortality and I can’t save even one of my subjects” hits HARD.
Part of that (Ling’s arc) is due to the parallels with Ed and Al’s statement about having all the power of alchemy, but being unable to save one little girl.
@@RavagerZero Yes exactly!! And I feel like it all came full circle in that scene where Ling offered up his philosophers stone to Ed so he can get Al back.
My favorite cliffhanger by far. "I told you, we have run out of time", is one of the most evil lines in this series coming from Goldtooth Doctor, who is the inverse of Hughes and Buccaneer. Goldtooth is barely known by the audience but he inspires such hate by his actions and how they've affected the other characters throughout the series. He made King Bradley, healed Kimbley, and then transported the sacrifices. This show gives every hero and villain their moments.

You know when Bellatrix Lestrange tries to kill Ginny Weasley and starts laughing in the last Harry Potter movie? Well that’s how I laughed when y’all had to endure the cliffhanger ending. 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀

13:43 I’m glad they caught onto the moment of silence when a character dies. That moment of silence for Buccaneer gave me the chills when I first watched FMAB. Even though he’s a minor character, he’s one of my top favorites
We see here in this episode of how much Roy Mustang loves Riza Hawkeye. I really think if she ever died, he would feel hopeless and useless without her.

FMAB is definitely one of the greatest anime of all time!
While not as impressive as what his wife did earlier in the show, Travis Willingham's passion as Mustang screams at the doctor is well done
He matched Bailey 100% when he was screaming at Envy
It's an easy misunderstanding to make, but Wrath didn't lose his Ultimate Eye here. The Ultimate Eye is the name of his ability, to be able to perceive things on a supernatural level, it's a part of him just like the Ultimate Shield is a part of Greed and the Ultimate Spear a part of Lust.
His left eye is simply an eye with an ouroboros tattoo. We see him perform the same kind of superhuman actions with and without his eyepatch on.
Seeing you guys react to the cliff hangers make me smile. It's so fun to see people want to watch more of your favorite show!

You know, idk why I thought of this now, and others have probably already said it. But the religious allegory of Hoenheim being a "God" like person and Father being the "Devil" or "Anti-Christ" like person is just so spot on. And all the other religious allegories in this show (the 7 deadly sins working for Father, the fact that perform alchemy, many people kneel and put their hands in a "prayer" like form together before bowing their heads and placing their hand son the ground as if praising God or any other religious figure you may know). Just really cool that they were able to have those in the show without being too in your face about it. But if you dig, this show is pretty full of religious meaning.
Comment likely won't be seen but 13:20 the old woman's an easter egg / throw back to the 2k3 FMA, she's a character in the show! The manga FMA also features a brief cameo of two Alchemists exclusive to the early episodes of 2k3 as well, who specialized in plant-based alchemy
9:36 you know why Greed doesn’t use his full shield? Because his face is too pretty. Literally. That’s the canonical reason he gives.
I don’t have much to say this episode because it’s all mainly side characters being focused on, and I can’t add much more than your analysis of the episode anyway. I’ll still try.
So I need to shoutout the man screaming for Captain Buccaneer not to die…might have inadvertently ruined the scene for me on rewatch. The way he screams after he passes, the way he screams “We StIlL nEeD yOu” was a bit much. I know the Briggs men are all really tightknit, but this situation I wish was a more quiet death scene for him and the hard core soldiers lose their serious covers to cry. Not lose it entirely. What Faulman did was far more impactful.
The scene where Lan Fan cries on her blood smatter from her auto mail is unironically some of the best animation ideas in the show. Her mask covers her devastated expression, so that tear sells it SO much.
I love how not only are Greed and Ling back in full teamwork, but we no longer have any doubts as to if Greed all the way back in episode 14 or so is back. And just to show it proper he screams what he did say back when. He will NOT fight women as a rule of thumb. And he’s gone out of his way to learn from his mistakes that caused Ed and Izumi beating him and taking initiative (even if he was interrogating Ed.) And of course this form he goes so far out of his way to not use is the fastest way to solve his problems (and could’ve countered Wrath quite heftily) so he stops worrying about “covering his handsome face” and finishes the job.
If there’s one thing proven us, the sacrifices and the candidates are NEVER going to get a break. They all have nigh unmatched willpower, and the only one I’ve seen with more is from another show. Which apparently I’ll get to cover on this channel. But it also shows just how hard it is on their loved ones as their tested. Sig is in AGONY that Izumi is forced against her will to do more, Ed is in a position where he might have to go without Al here even if he doesn’t realize it, which would terrify him more than ANYTHING considering what he’s done to sacrifice for Al to stay in this world while they look for the answer in truth. Hohenheim is slowly becoming Father’s blood instead of the other way around, but he still needs to sacrifice him. And of course…Mustang now has to make a choice regarding his totally not-wife. He has entered the circle of being constantly tested. Not that he hasn’t but he’s always relatively able to keep a cool head when the attack isn’t personal. While ALL the decisions Ed, Al, Izumi, and Hohenheim all have VERY personal and heavy decisions to always make. And that’s petrifying he’s getting dragged into the inevitability of it all.
This episode might be one of my least favorites in this finale, but I still won’t deny how awesome it is anyway.
The cliffhanger at the end of this episode... I was so mad at The Doctor. 😡
Roy and Riza are two of my favorites in the entire series (especially Roy who's my number 1 favourite) and The Doctor really knew how to get under Mustang's skin and make him angry and desperate.
they use wrath to push through and now briggs use greed to push back after taking wrath out of the battle field... feels like a tug of war
immediately after mustang calms down from his revenge spiral because hawkeye shed die after him, to this. after mustang chooses not to go down the path that would put hawkeyes blood on his hands suddenly he is in exact situation, but this time its completely out of his control. it makes it so much harder because he just a moment ago resolved not do do anything that would hurt her again, and now he has to choose between her and the world. its something i dont see brought up often but i think this coming so soon after that episode makes it pack a much bigger punch

I think it’s interesting that greed is the most caring. Even his resolve to not fight women, even if I don’t personally subscribe to that mentality personally (hands are rated E for everyone), is interesting to me cause it shows a certain level of self awareness. A lot of guys are taught from a young age that they’re stronger than women and need to be more gentle because they can hurt them on accident, tho if you grew up with brothers you probably didn’t receive mercy lol. The reasoning he gives for it is “he’s not that kinda guy”. Which basically means it’s his own moral compass guiding that decision. Tho unfortunately because it’s greed it’s likely at least partially because women are one of his “possessions”. After his fusion with Ling tho, that mentality expands to mean more. They aren’t just possessions, they’re his friends, he cares about them, but he’s greed so he has a very limited understanding of those feelings. I think it’s just such an interesting dynamic to explore. Greeds growing morality and his reasonings and feelings expanding to a more human capacity. Always gets me overthinking lol.
I made myself sad thinking of Olivier finally in the privacy of her room and having time to think about Buccaneer and shedding silent tears.
Wait till they find out the episode 60 cliffhanger is WORSE
12:00 here is Buccaneer having a gut wrentching last moment and then there's this soldier, 12:12, ruining the somber moment with the fakest cry ever😂😂😂. Whoever did the voice acting for that character had to have been a troll or something.
with so much stuff going on in the last 10 episodes of the anime, no matter where it stopped it would've been a cliffhanger anyway

Gotta love Montana bringing real-world chemistry into a show that goes out of its way to incorporate actual chemical principles into the “magic” system

I adore watching your reactions, I do get somewhat frustrated that rather waiting for the discussion breaks that you both talk over some of the most important comments and conversations, I’ve watched it so I’m not missing it but you’re the ones missing them rather than pausing to discuss once you’ve heard what’s being said.
Death Note is a great choice but i would also suggest Monster.

WOW!! This was another phenomenal episode of Full Metal Alchemist brotherhood as always but this episodes are getting more amazing and amazing as we get closer to the end and is also getting more and more frustrating with these horrible cliffhangers it's just reminding me of AOT. Anyways I am also really excited to see your reaction to Death Note and I have watched till episode 27 of Death Note till now and I am taking a break on Death Note and currently watching/bingeing Demon slayer which is also really amazing watched till episode 15 and yeah so excited for the next episode as well. If you enjoy side characters being effective and able to impact the story, y'all should read One Piece. You'll get side characters who, while seemingly unimportant, are either annoying or quirky only to learn their motives or origins are some of the most meaningful and impactful. Like we have random one off characters we know more about than some of the main characters, because after 1000 ch their backstory is still unfolding. Watching One Piece is good too, except for the pacing
