- In this video you can watch my new Toyota Corolla 2023 POV test drive. I'm driving the 1.8 Hybrid GR Sport version of this hatchback with front-wheel drive on different kind of roads: countryside roads, city roads, the highway, a bumpy road, cobblestones, ... I also test the acceleration (0-100 km/h) and quickly show the exterior.

I got the 2.0 L touring version. I'm doing 75km each day, with 50-55km's highway. Consumption last 2000km is 4,6L/100km. I can do 750km's with a full tank ( I refuel at around 50km's on the range). Such a great car, accelaration in sport mode is actually very good on the 2.0L
Sound likea good economy. If the car is new it could still go down after burning-in period. What speed do you drive at on highway (indicated or GPS measured) and what's the immediate consumption at steady highway speed? I guess it could be somewhat variable in case of an hybrid. Thanks.
@@Ariskot007 Depends on the traffic flow of course. I always try to maintain a solid speed of 113KM/H on cruise control, depending the slope and wind direction it indicates just above and under the average sign so must be between 4-5L
I own the 2019 model, 2.0 hatchback and consumption is abt. 4,5 liter/100 km. I mainly drive on secondary roads and town traffic. When I drive long - say 200 km - distances on the highway it will raise to abt. 5.1/100, not bad. That - with the limitation of 100 kmh on the Dutch highways at daytime (till 19.00). Acceleration is indeed very good. Traffic lite sprints are due to the electric amazing and 100 - 120 or even 100 - 140 kmh are ok as wel. My former car was an Audi 3.0 T but I don't mis it. This car is driving very comfortable.
And driving with full tank is pure benzine or hybrid? Because i can drive 800km on a full tank with my current VW golf 1.4 Tsi 122hp. And recent measurements where 6,5L/100km. So i'm supriced you only reached 750km.
@CiroDiMaRzio12304 Its combined, I go to refuel when the indicator gives around 50km's left, which means there is about 2L + safety range left. This always is refuel on +-700km's driven since last refuel. Full tank then stops at 31-33L refueling, so also need to compare the L you can put into the reservoir ;)

Hi! I'm just waiting to receive my new Corolla 140H. Despite mine is the low model (Active Plus in Spain), I think the feelings will be quite similar to the GR Sport during driving, as the engine is the same. I was told that GR is a bit noisier than my model due to the type of tires. Let's see in the near future.

Me too. Such a long wait!! Order since November here in UK. Also the base spec as it still has lots of kit and smaller tyres make significant difference to town consumption and comfort. Also, my wife always kerbs big wheels so I have to get small ones 😂

By the way, I've seen that base model in UK is called "Icon" and it has small differences in equipment compared to Spanish model. Some of your current features would have been great for me, but I guess that in the opposite way would be the same.
My car is currently in the vessel sailing towards Spain. I wish in 3 weeks maximum is completely mine.

I'm planning to buy a Corolla Hatchback, but I can't decide whether to go for the 1.8 version with a bigger trunk or the 2.0 version with a smaller trunk. What do you recommend? Is there a significant difference in performance? Does it make sense to sacrifice trunk capacity?

I actually prefer the 2.0 hybrid one because on highways is very responsive and actually quick, however this 1.8 hybrid sure knows how to move the car with a good push. Also recently I saw that Toyota is removing more premium options for the corolla lineup :/
i think it's worth paying extra +- 2000 euros for 2.0; While in the city the 1.8 is more than enough, on the highway where electric motor doesnt do a lot, the difference between 98 and 152 hp is a huge difference
How about acceleration 80-100 km/h? Is it punchy? And is it loud durung driving 130km/h
There are no lights on steering wheels buttons?
I really enjoy your videos, good quality and great driving, but lately the only thing you do with the cars are accelarations, and that's not what the real world driving type is about... I think it's great that you show how fast the cars are from 0 to 100, but don't do that constantly...it's anoying and it's impossible to see what the real world consumption is! Adapt your drive to the car you're driving ;) Don't forget this is a Corolla and not a Supra 😅
Hi Miguel, I know you follow the channel for a long time so thank you for that! I look at my channel analytics a lot and there's always a spike of interest when I include accelerations. That's why I moved the slower countryside road driving to the end of the videos and made those segments shorter as well, because unfortunately only a small group of people seem to care about the normal driving. If I start the videos the way I did in 2021, I immediately lose like 40% of the people who clicked on the video. At the end of the day, I want my videos to do well and be recommended to new people, so unfortunately I have to take into account RUclips's algorithm. I totaly get your point of view though and if it wasn't for the algorithm, I would probably upload 1 hour long test drives where viewers can choose what they watch without any consequences for the channel.
It goes really fast to 60km/h, then it slows down a little

If you mean Corolla HB vs Civic, my answer is 100% Civic which is way more spacious in both rear seats and the trunk. No need to say the way better looking interior design. The only advantage for HB would be the price (slightly lower than the newly increased price tag of Civic in France)
If you mean the TS vs Civic, then depends on what you are looking for: Corolla TS has a larger trunk with hands free open/close; Civic still wins on the interior design plus electric controlled front seats and a way better quality of rear camera. Regarding consumption, Corolla wins slightly in the city but Civic wins on highways.
I own the TS 196 ch and I would choose Civic if I could do the choice again.
@@chris3paul2005i drove a civic and a corolla. I prefer the corolla in 1.8 140hp. And the interior is better on the corolla (in my opinion)

I have the same dilema :D Between C-HR 2.0 2021 and 1.8 GR Sport 2023. That is quite interesting because even the Toyota dealer told me that the NEW 1.8 (140 HP) is a really responsive car in the city. Acceleration from 0-80 km/h is comparable to the old 2.0 fourth generation.
I think I'll buy new Corolla 1.8 :)

He's driving a hybrid with 140 hp, it's an automatic with a CVT-like gear box, no shifting and the other car is a Cupra Born, a proper EV with much more hp. Of course it's going to be quicker.
