Just viewed your video and fully agree with your opinion on set-up and use. I have used Trilene Xl exclusively for all my fishing line for pike to catfish, bluegills to bass. I have the twin to your reel on an ugly stik gx2, 6' Medium and absolutely love it for about 80% of my fishing needs. Great video. I have always filled the spool to abut 1/8" of edge and think you have a good point in not filling it as much. One hundred yards of line will last a long time for the average fisher person.

I have been using Abu Garcia blackmax baitcaster little over a year and still couldn’t figure it out how to cast it properly. Watched ton of utube videos but still get backlash. You explained it very well and going to follow step by step instructions. 🤞

Good video. I've never used a bait casing reel so I bought a Black Max just to try it. My buddy that I've been fishing with for years, that's all he uses for stripers and large mouth - we shall see. Oh, I'm taking an open face with me just in case lol
I found 20 pound test works best on the casters axle , I had no used alot of braid but the black max has pretty decent sized gaps on the sides , I switched to 20 pound and the line easily flew out the guides , I finish off with an 8lbmono leader
It depends on the diameter of the line. Next time you are out shopping for line pay attention to diameter and not just weight or how many pounds it can withstand. You'll surprised about the differences. If I already know I want, say 12lb line, then I try to buy the smallest diameter, if I can afford it.

The Black Max is affordable and a great reel overall. Will be buying the Black Max 4 soon to see the differences compared to older models.

Can't go wrong with the Ugly Stiks either. Very durable and affordable.

Bought that reel the other day at Walmart I put it on the Ugly Stik GX2 rod hopefully I picked the correct rod for it.
Absolutely. Ugly sticks are good rods and last forever. I have a couple of ‘em myself.

@@LeaveNoTrashBehind - I have had good luck with 12lb monofilament Trilene XL and 15 lb flourocast by Stren.
