      Dude has been "connected" to music since he was a toddler. Instruments are an extension to his brain and he gets it. He's a once in a generation musical genius

    • @TUBESTOOL
      @TUBESTOOL 3 месяца назад +3

      @hundredfireify This is a misconception. Music is something that can be learned to this level, and it doesn't take much, but learning 1 instrument completely. The rest is muscle memory. As someone that can play more than 10 instruments well I can tell you it is a skill. And like many skills, mastery comes from study and practice. Invoking emotions in people through music is a talent.

    • @bernhardkrickl3567
      @bernhardkrickl3567 3 месяца назад +2

      @@TUBESTOOL It is a learnable skill, but to get to Jacob's level you have to start really early. Yes, if you learn one instrument you have a head start when learning another, but you still need to learn. It's one thing to go from guitar to ukulele or bass, it's another to go to the piano and a whole different thing to go to wind instruments or drumming. And singing. And then there's composing and improvising, writing and producing. He can do it all (except maybe the wind instruments, I don't know about that.) Plus he is versed in many genres and can explain and teach and is still a nice and humble guy. If that's not a genius, I don't know what is :)

    • @TUBESTOOL
      @TUBESTOOL 3 месяца назад

      @bernhardkrickl3567 Or, he was just privileged to have had a lot of music education.. which he has... and your comment about going from guitar to a wind instrument to drums is ridiculous. He's not a genius. He's a product of education and technology. If he was a genius, he'd be inventing new things, not just mashing everything he's learned in Western music.

    Jacob Collier is a genuinely gifted musician. But I couldn't make it through the first 30 seconds. His voice sounds off for some reason and there's such sparse accompaniment there's nothing to pull me away from how awkward his voice is coming off. Plus the noodling on the bass in intro with relatively no sound coming from it is a performance no no. If your going draw attention with your hands then the ears in the audience are expecting a treat. He is more seasoned than this performance would have you believe.

      @mendtheboy I mean some. I like tool if you'd count that. But for the most part not really. Kind of like polyphia. As a guitarist, super impressive, but I don't want to listen to it all the time.
      Jacob is like the 2nd coming of music christ lol. Seemingly one of the most knowledgeable musicians on the planet right now, at such a young age....but he makes music I don't care to listen to.

      @@Savagefred you got my musical repect. LOL (not that it matters...LOL) but I like it. Some folks fancy this in their cars and the like. Now I love Tools Drummer!! But this guy (Jacob) makes music that is provoked by attentiveness so for most that attention span is not long enough to indulge the compositions but, hey ...sumpin for everybody... right?

      Are you not aware that millions of people like to listen to more interesting, varied, fearless music? Nobody listening to this dozens of times does it because they are "impressed". People listen to him because it feels good and there are many albums' worth of styles, approaches, perspectives, and harmonic/emotional settings to experience.
