I have worked as an IT Tech in some form for 20 years and I can't think of anything that you didn't touch on that is so accurate for working in IT. Turning a computer or any piece of equipment off/on does help very much as well as if you don't know how to fix something google or ask someone. So true. I came here from the building your PC video as well, and even though I have built several it is fun to see everyone's experience building.
My story is pretty similar, I've worked at best buy for 3 years in their PC sales/Geek Squad positions and also interned and worked at helpdesk IT and interned as one as well. Now I have 2 more semesters left in my IT major and then i'll be working as a fulltime helpdesk, with a pretty huge chance that I want to be a network admin in the future as well.
thank you for making this video! as someone who is interested in being a technician as a career, listening to someones past experiences helps a lot! cant wait for the next video! :D
Great video Hannah. I’ve worked as an IT tech for 10 years in London with similar starting job roles. I love hearing other techs talk about their experience in the business, some of the best stories come out of tech field! If you do any other tech related work in your everyday life you should try and make videos on it, I think it would make for some great viewing along with your gaming stuff. Keep up the great work :)
DakotaDiverSify I already have my certificate 1, 2 and 3 in Information technology. So in Australia I have 3 qualifications that allow me to get into a TAFE course. I have always had a passion for IT and I'm doing my best to go through with it.
Jude Mendez you are already doing very well, but remember, working isn’t all about knowledge. No matter how many certificates you have, if you can’t operate well enough for the employer you won’t get the job. But I’m sure you’ll do just fine lol
I’ve started working as a sound technician for my high school, and it really reminds me of what I did when I was really into IT. Working with soundboards and teaching your principal how to get an aux cord adapter into the correct inputs on a 4000 dollar soundboard. It’s something I plan on pursuing when I get to college, so I’ll probably be attending USC or the LA Film School later on in life. Glad to hear your story and keep it up!
Hannah, in case nobody has ever suggested watch the British comedy "The IT Crowd" for a laugh, you can even find clips here on RUclips. Looking forward to future videos of yours, thanks for being you and allowing us to enjoy the "you-ness"
Think I honestly have never really heard a true American Southern accent. This girl seems nice and her videos have a nice quality and effort on them. Subscribed.
Yes! I am just starting my IT carrier as a programmer! It is so cool to see you do this video, and yes I subscribed when I saw your pc build video. Keep it up!
I do an apprenticeship as an IT-Systems Engineer. That means I go school two days a week and work 3 days per week. This goes on for four years. During that time, depending on the company you work at, you switch to different departments. I am currently in the database department... one of my favorite departments, next to network security...
This video helped me make my decision on working as an IT tech for my college and it’s been a great experience. I am still waiting for the video on your classes!
You are very enjoyable to listen too. best part was the ''I would walk on stage and feel like a boss'' XD I work as a all around mechanic at a company that makes all kinds of salads, pizza's and fruits and when some production lines that produce about 46 packages a minute have a defect and like 10 people are standing still, when you count up all the money that all of that costs it gives you such a boss feeling going up their and fixing the problems!
Randomly came across your channel and finding out now we were probably in the same graduating class at GSU. Just crazy and weird and insane but awesome!
I kinda thought every IT job was the same so I actually learnt something new from watching. I don't really have any questions for Hannah's Help Desk so I'll just say thanks. Also: The last teensy bit of the video with your traditional funny image made my whole day. I laughed out loud :-)
Great video. I'm looking into IT as my next career. Right now I fix cars for living but want to change fields and I think IT is where I want to go. This is best video I found about IT work.
This video is rad, I would really like to hear more about your projects that you had to troubleshoot and managing end users. I struggle with getting to high level with my end users.
Ive been working in IT for a few years and just recently in GeekSquad. Its awesome to hear your story. Also Fry's was the first place to actually reject my application lol
Hey! I worked for Fry's Electronics too. If you went to Georgia Southern, I would assume you worked at either Duluth or Milton. I worked at the Duluth store for 3 years but a close friend of mine was actually the Manager over the Service Department at Milton for a while.
Honestly this video is really interesting for me. During high school I was basically the go-to guy if anyone had issues with the computers or anything tech wise, never had any opportunities to be the school's technician because there was already a guy for that (even though he couldn't fix a simple monitor issue) but regardless I like to think I'm still good at it and I'm hoping to make a career out of it tbh, or at least do something in the I.T industry in general for a career. Very enjoyable video for me :)
Ever since i saw your video in recomendation i stared to watch all your videos, and i dont know why, there is something about your attitude and voice that cant stop watching your videos... keep making videos :3 i like watchng them i fell relaxed some how . you are a cool person to watch, and i know that you might not even si this post but dont mind at least i get to see your videos :)
Thank you for sharing your first IT job experiences. I applied for a System Technician job at Fry's Electronics (Campbell, CA) back in 1996, they hired a used car salesman instead of me, LOL. One thing is for certain, the best people in IT are those that received Customer Service training and survived a tour of duty in retail-Hell. People can be petty about some seriously stupid shit. Between Network Administration and System Administration, I have taken Systems Administration jobs every time. Network Admins have to deal with zero budget and outside forces breaking things (weather, hackers, ISP's, and so on. System Admins mostly babysit adults but have a budget to replace the things that break. I still can't believe how often I am paid (and how much) to do nothing more than plug something in. It's like someone hiring an electrician to replace a light bulb. The best place to work is any place that has a remote desktop solution in place. I've used 3rd party utilities as well as the Remote Assistance tool built-in to Windows. Either is great and will cut most tickets down from 30 minutes to as little as 5 seconds to resolve.
Sounds like you have had so much fun working with it. You just made me more intrested in it by making this video😂 Currently studying electrical engineering and i understand what you are talking about at 7:01 i found that it was easyer to understand and see things when i started looking into things at home and just trying to help my mom fix her old computer. It is really easy to understand the things avout hardware too because i buildt my gaming computer at age 15.
I was working an Admin based job (your typical "Paper Pusher") and had no certifications whatsoever ... roll a few years forward on the camera reel of life, and now i'm helping said company with their networking setup for a new POS and Management system. So yes, totally agree with you on Certifications not meaning everything. Having said that I still want to get them eventually :P
i`m in love with you personality , have been watching a few of your vids i accidentally got here while i was building my pc and stumbled on one of your vids mannn your a lil unicorn you have a subscriber here !!
I would love to know about technision. It's something I was interested in and out of my comfort zone. But idk where to start. You got a new subscribe. I've watched some of your videos. And I'm a fan.
I'm looking to go to college for an IT major planning in the spring of 2019 or fall of 2019 but I'm not totally sure if I should go to a community college or a full on university. Which is better to start and or go to?
Cybernetic Organism college is no joke when you look at how much they cost. I will have to start at my local community college. Gojng to schedule a campus tour soon
How do you get started to build a custom PC? Your videos have inspired me to build my own PC but I have no knowledge on where to start. Any videos or tips?
I started my college major in Networking Monday. I was lucky to get a job in IT while in college. So butters, I was wondering if you had any college tips or etc. Because i can easily do the work im doing in school but it will really " FULLY" Click once we actually start the hands on.

This helped me quite alot. I'm 15 and looking for a career in the future in IT. So cheers for the help!😊
Jude Mendez what are you doing to put yourself ahead of the game? The younger the start, the more room for improvement you have.
DakotaDiverSify Yeah, I hsvr bern working hands on for businesses as training. And so far so good. 😄
Jude Mendez good luck, my man!

Dude I did the exact same thing when I was in college! Fun times!! Theoretical became practical, love IT life/Gaming life
That room looks sick, what a transformation! The new T.V is just the cherry on top
Hannah, in case nobody has ever suggested watch the British comedy "The IT Crowd" for a laugh, you can even find clips here on RUclips. Looking forward to future videos of yours, thanks for being you and allowing us to enjoy the "you-ness"

I'd definitely love to hear what you learned in in college. I'm a CS major and I'm curious as to what the differences are between the two programs
Yes! I am just starting my IT carrier as a programmer! It is so cool to see you do this video, and yes I subscribed when I saw your pc build video. Keep it up!

I’m so glad I randomly found this video, I love IT too it’s just you said it a adult puzzle 🧩
Being from Georgia (yay Georgia! haha), I fully understand the heat-A/C thing. Also, hello from a new viewer and subscriber! :D
Well um I subbed to your channel after PC building video. It was unique and quite honest. An aspect which isn't seen in most RUclips videos nowadays.
My passion has always been computers and software when you do something you love jobs dont even seem like work and you are always excited to go do it
Yess I'd love a follow up video about being an IT major!
The bun makes me happy :) Pretty cool looking back at what brought you where you are, isn't it?
Keep up the awesome work and positivity!
I love the “wah” at 8:02. It’s my favorite thing that you do lol
I don’t know what I liked more seeing the no game no life lanyard or the really cool merch you plugged in! XD
Randomly came across your channel and finding out now we were probably in the same graduating class at GSU. Just crazy and weird and insane but awesome!

I'm also from South GA!
*KOOL STORY, BRAH* I like to Google my computer probs first before I take it to a tech, that way they won't perform unnecessary work on it.
Beautiful candle in the background
Would love to see some of those follow up videos you mentioned.
hey Butters! I love these IT styled videos, do you have any plans to do more of them?
Yes I want another video of the IT college stuffs.
You’re awesome, Butters! ❤️
You don't look like Felicity, you are Felicity. I am now convinced you are a TV star.
TheVoidRose wym??
I mean, you are the super smart computer lady that helps The Arrow fight crime.
Sounds like you have had so much fun working with it. You just made me more intrested in it by making this video😂

I'm looking to go to college for an IT major planning in the spring of 2019 or fall of 2019 but I'm not totally sure if I should go to a community college or a full on university. Which is better to start and or go to?
start a community college and then transfer to the university, save yourself some money.
Cybernetic Organism college is no joke when you look at how much they cost. I will have to start at my local community college. Gojng to schedule a campus tour soon
Trust me, I know but that is what I'm doing currently, you will just get your general Ed out the way first and then transfer fo the university.

Thank you for your videos! They are awesome :)
Hair bun glasses lets go😍
Omg your hair is amazing! Be careful with the candle on the back lol
You answered my question off of Twitter !!
Today I’m going out to get a full one job pretty scared tbh since I have to try to balance everything I am currently doing on top of that
Georgia Southern... As a Gator, I made the mistake of being in Statesboro when GSU beat UF :/
Doesn't anyone else hate how Butters doesn't have 1 million subs yet?
Cause she's not a hoe
Since the PC vid, I've been binging your old vids as well. too bad I came too late for the CoD story vids, I would of LOVED watching them when they came out, I used to watch all the old CoD commentators back then. (seananners, whiteboy7thst, xjawz, woodysgamertag, etc) Now they're just all dead or washed up :/ Watching your Quickscoping BO vids made me wish they re-released Black ops, it was my first CoD and I played it non stop in HS. But I do wonder what going the traditional route would of been like. Because I did watch all your Bo1 vids, I think you should give Rocket league a try, I didn't like the idea of it at first but it totally got rid of that competitive gaming hole in my life now that CoD is basically dead. (not like it was back then)
This is a long comment.
Almost 50k Hannah !!
Tech jobs sound so cool
I always go to frys for new controllers and stuff
So so many stories! I think my brain is starting to think IT 👀! And you have a minor in PR? I've received my degree in Communication with a specialty in interpersonal communication we speak the same language ahhhhhhhhhhhhh lol loved this video butters! I'm curious to hear other IT stories because well...you're a storyteller and those are some funny stories 😎
omg the glasses :O and noooo dont cut the hurrrr
I'm actually just starting college in like a month and I think what you majored in is not far off from what I am majoring in. I'm going to study networking and cybersecurity and maybe a minor in comp sci. I have not decided if I am going to do the minor or not yet. Wish I could say that I work with tech all the time as a job but sadly I'm not
Do another pc building video!
6:30 nice
Im in my schools help desk, there are only 2 people, which ended up just being me in the class & my teacher. My teacher would not be there a lot of time so I had to struggle on my own and it was terrible, I had no one to ask for help. It was a monstrosity
I have a associates degree from ITT Tech. Worked for Ricoh for 13 years as a copier tech.
Been waiting on this vid
Show some love butterss❤️
I have been watching no game no life because of you. It's amazing. But, it's annoying that there's only 12 episodes
Get your certs. 100%. Dont worry about A+ or Net+. Start with a CCENT/CCNA.
yay a butters vid
can you balance videos like it material and your gaming 🥺 im going to college to become an it tech and majoring in computer network technology ii wanna know more. your vids are very descriptive and your very interesting to watch
New subscriber, love your videos keep it coming.
I'm trying to find something to go back to school for, IT was my second choice 10 years ago and I went with my first choice, which ended up being a terrible mistake. At this point in my life I just wanna get paid, I've been considering IT or Maybe CS. Problem is I haven't taken math in literally 10 years so CS would probably destroy me but then again I feel like IT is supersaturated and I'd end up working at best buy for barely above minimum wage...
