I visited the memorial yesterday. From the distance I didn't find interesting but once you sit by the running waters I regretted thinking that way; it is simply m a g i c a l!!!
Actually there isn't a statue of Diana there. I visited London 2 weeks ago, and been there, to Hyde Park. And there wasn't a statue of her. But it still IS the Diana memorial fountain.
I think, in theory, it was a nice idea. Still, it reminds me of part of a dam, or something "constructed" for a water company. It's just not very elegant, or timeless. It was surely difficult to decide what type of memorial to make for Diana. A statue couldn't have captured her essence.. I don't have all the answers, and this fountain is somewhat nice..Still, this doesn't make you think "ahhh, this is so "Diana."
@jactress How sad.. I didn't think it was suitable and seemed like a good idea, but too capricious and short sighted in it's construction and design.. It's somewhat tacky..
What a ridiculous memorial to a truely great humanitarian. Typical British establishment nonsense. Its closed now due to 'leaves on the line'. So now Diana has nothing.
What the heck does this have to do with Princess Diana? It's a terrible memorial. Given the floral tributes, it should have been a garden of white roses and lilies on the site of the floral tributes.
Loved the video you made. It's the best I've come across showing the fountain. Thanks so much for posting this. :)
Thank you very much for posting this. I've added it to my list of things to see on my future trip to London.
