I held murphey today! He climbed up my shoulder and she sang the song. Plus he said (I’m a pretty bird!)
(He lost his feathers from stress, his owner was a drinker and hit him because he was loud, (they did not research probably) he can’t grow feathers anymore but he is still a awesome and cute bird! I love that bird and I’m going volunteer there too!

Conures are able to live a very long time, roughly 30 years, and my friend and I only shared our lives for 8 and a half years. I miss him every day and it brings a bit of comfort to see other people and their own lives with their conure pals, so thanks for giving us updates [:

I keep forgetting how emotionally intelligent birds (and some animals in general) are, Murphy may not understand human speech but he’s sure is vibing and feeling good about himself.

I remember one of my first encounters with some kind of domesticated bird was this one small bird that looked like an Ari. It was yellow and green I think, and it was adorable. It really liked people, especially me. It really liked my hair, and it made me more comfortable with birds, knowing they all won’t try to peck me. It also got caught in my hair when going from one shoulder to the other from behind my neck. It was scary, but it got out safe :)

My family actuality use to take care of birds all the time, we still do. Even when I was little I took care of birds. I actually rescued a baby robin that got kicked out or fell out of its nest onto concrete. It lived a whole entire robin life span or I think so, I left that house before I could see her pass away. We took care of her until she was ready to leave and even then she stayed around living in our archway made out of to trees

As someone who is terrified of birds (childhood bird who kept chasing me only to try and bite me and me having scars from bird bites) I am happy to see that the birds are getting the love they need. I personally don't like birds but I love animals and I find certain bird species to be beautiful (from a distance) and seeing these poor abused creatures getting a happy life after being in a bad home is heartwarming. Go forth little flying dinosaurs!

i used to have a cockatiel… until 1 month ago.
he died of cancer, and he had it for a year, slowly suffocating him. he was 30 in human years, which was almost record time as they live for 25 years. it was sad since he died at the vet and i watched it. i also held his dead body for the 30 minute drive home. i also buried him.
