A cybersecurity expert once said the most horrific thing you can do to a scammer is to actually respond, but to only 'kind of' follow instructions. Ask MANY questions and throw curveballs often. Every response they have to waste time crafting that they aren't getting your info or money is THOUSANDS of dollars they lose. But you also have to be careful, just like James says during the talk.
The secret weapon we old guys have is time. I put a timeshare salesman on speaker phone and kept him talking for close to 2 hours while I worked on a model ship. I had him research local restaurants, bus routes, local hospitals... Boy was he pissed, when I told, never mind, it's too far for an old guy to walk to the beach.

@@eadweard. He trolls corporations. He legally changed his name to Hugo Boss to put the company on the spot for trying to claim they have a trademark on the word 'Boss' when they threatened a small brewery called Boss Brewery for a couple of their beer names that were referring to their own company. So because he did it, the press paid attention and spoke about it so they then said it was a misunderstanding.

I worked with a sales rep once who had free time at home when he got a call from a company trying to sell him double-glazing. He went through all their questions and so forth for about half an hour and the person at the other end was planning how to spend their commission when my friend hit them with..."Ooh! One more thing". "Yes?" "You do do it on caravans don't you?" He said they put the phone down so fast it nearly burnt his ear.
