In Europe I never ever saw peeled garlic and I'm shooooook that people would buy something like that in a plastic container! Peeling garlic takes 5 seconds... It's outstanding for me to justify using plastic for something like that 😭😭😭
Detti fully agree with you. From Sweden myself, she could peel the garlic at once and put it into a jar instead. And I also think the nutrition value of chopped vegs gets lower the more it waits....
Great ideas but wondering how you would remember the expiration dates on some of your stuff and I believe veggies don't last as long when you precut them. I assume you go through them a lot quicker than me.
I also didn’t show my freezer here BUT if I have excess I’ll freeze them! Then they last wayyyy longer and you can just throw them frozen onto the stove top ;)
Precut it actually very smart. It looks like she is only cutting enough to use for a few days (she is cooking for 2). I also am relearning to only buy what I will realistically eat. Many people tend to overbuy and then their food goes bad.
Just a note, if you unnecessarily moving things from plastic to glass, for example yoghurt you’re actually using more water. You will have to clean out two containers instead of the one.
This is true. But also, with time, wouldn't the chemicals in the plastic container seep into the food that is inside it? Or would that take a longer period of time to happen?
Interesting to watch but not sure how practical this is. You still need to set time aside to maintain this level of organization specially if you're someone who cooks a lot, unless the goal is to simply make it aesthetically pleasing and you don't cook as much. How many pickle jars can be upcycled as a coffee mug? However, it's great if it works for you!
Hey! I absolutely love your videos and this was so helpful! But I saw you had a biodegradable produce spray and I thought you’d want to know this eye-opening piece I read. Apparently biodegradable doesn’t mean environmentally friendly! It actually just means that product is able to break down, but usually with toxic chemicals and plastics😬 The word I now look for in my products is compostable - breaks down in plant-based materials. Hope you found this helpful!
Holy mackerel. This fridge is a whole room! Pre-cutting everything sounds nice, but that way everything also spoils a lot faster. I gave up on doing this. Did I hear that right? You buy pre-peeled garlic? In plastic boxes? To then put it in a glas jar. Garlic comes naturally with a skin that dries off, it doesn't need to be packaged at all! Certainly it doesn't need to be refrigerated , you just pull off as much as you need and the rest can still sit outside the fridge. Mind-blowing, right? Especially when you talk about sustinability! Chocolate in the fridge? But "why" I ask? It looses all its taste! Where is the cheese, or cold cuts or similar? You don't eat that and therefore you don't have it? Quick tip: NEVER put anything together with apples. They let everything ripen (and therefore spoil) a lot faster. They emit ethylen, which can also alter the taste of other things, for example carrots. Chia seeds and flax seeds should not be stored in the fridge, they should be stored cool and dry (but not in a fridge). I agree, however, very much with cleaning your fridge regulary and buying foods without packaging!
it hurts my heart to see those small plastic containers of nuts, and the pre peeled garlic?! i dont understand the use of pre peeled garlic, peeling garlic takes all of 3 seconds
Susan Lu I think her partner's Jewish, and you're supposed to have a separate kitchen for cooking things like meat in that faith, which Lucy doesn't have. Totally agree with the rest of your comment though.
Lucie I’ve adored your videos for so long, and seriously admire your efforts to be more eco-friendly through zero waste, meal prep, etc. However, this video missed the spot in several places. Especially with the getting rid of plastic containers (or even NONE plastic containers, like the pickles), just to put the food in something else. If you know you’re going to be transferring it as soon as you get home, you could try a little harder to find alternatives.... if it’s really impossible, i get it. But I’d be lying if I said that seeing you transfer all those food sand create unnecessary waste didn’t hurt a bit
In choosing to put things in pretty glass, you are also creating more dishes to do, which wastes water. Like your plastic soy sauce bottle is not going to get too moldy to wash out later, just keep it. I dont get the purpose of having an aesthetic fridge, other than the views.
I agree. I’m moving some stuff to glass containers when it makes sense. But I’m leaving things in containers they come in and i am not redoing my spices.... they come in shakers, it’s fine.
Tip to eat more sustainable : buy season produce. It's both eco-friendly and healthier There is nothing like bell pepper in winter! (At least in my part of the planet)

don't get me wrong but as far as i know prechopping onions is very unhealthy, and are those stickers waterproof? i am curious about how will you wash the jars 🤔

You can preserve peeled garlic cloves for much longer by filling the jar with vinegar. I thought this would pickle the garlic, but so long as I rinse the vinegar off before using a clove, I don't get any pickle-ness, just great garlic. I've also read that you can soak the cloves in a jar of vinegar for at least two days, and then drain the vinegar and add olive oil. The couple of days in vinegar preserves the garlic and staves off bacteria, and then the olive oil is preservative enough after that.

Eggs almond lettuce and garlic all usually come in non-plastic packaging. youre looking at a shelf in a grocery store making the conscious choice to buy the one in plastic. its so saddening when it's so easy to change. some things cant be bought not in plastic but those can. and I get that you want to have things prechopped, my mom is a chef and feels the same way, but cleaning and chopping lettuce and leaving it in a salad spinner is very easy and you should try it.
It looks beautiful. You have said that your kitchen cupboards are staying organized since you did them. I'm curious to know if your fridge will stay this way so an update in 6 months would be great!! :)
Another lovely video! I really want to get into 'meal prepping' in the same way you have done here Lucy. My main concern is how long pre-cut veg and pre-cooked grains will last in the fridge?
Love this! I am super into fridge organizing and meal prepping at the moment. I love all the glass containers. I agree with you about the prepped veggies and grains. I don’t have time on the weekdays to cook. I have discovered if everything is pre-chopped I am more likely to make healthy food choices as it takes five minutes to throw together. My meals taste way better then take out.
Oh my gosh guys!! She is still in the process of being sustainable! It won’t happen all in one day. It’s not her fault that some items at the store come in plastic. Y’all are starting to sound like those vegan people who feel so entitled to correct and undermine anyone who is in the process of becoming vegan. Everyone is human. We all give and find new ways that work for us meanwhile trying to make the planet better. Don’t attack someone and mask it as “constructive criticism.” Be kind and give examples if you don’t agree with a method she used. Don’t just complain without giving a solution!!
Love this video ❤️ it's been very helpful. Couple questions. Do you not use condiments? Like mustard, mayo ketchup? I feel like my fridge is overwhelming because the amount of condiments my family uses. Last is how did you know how many jars etc containers you actually used and what sizes would work best?
If you were a witch you could use those old jars for spells and pickle jars are perfect for any jar or bottle spell. Also if you have a shop that involves crafting or little whatnots you can organize them into little bottles that have the same lid.
Thanks for mentioning your kitchen organization video: I'll have to check that out because I'm trying to find storage containers that actually fit in my cabinets! Lots of cute options are simply too tall or wide for the cabinets, and while storing on the counter seems aesthetically pleasing, it's not practical for me if I want to form the habit of cleaning my counters. This video was really interesting; I feel encouraged to at least peel my garlic and dice onions to have them prepped. Would love to see how much y'all keep up with this system maybe in 4-5 months! I know you did a spring cleaning video a while ago, but it would be cool to see what kind of cleaning habits/routines you have to keep your space tidy and clean in a consistent way. Everyone loves an inspiring declutter session (including me!), but then weeks go by, and I find the dust bunnies forming allies with tumbleweeds of hair. What habits do you have that keep that normal level of "clean" before it gets to a point of "well, I better set aside 2.5 days to clean everything"?
Rubber and silicone are still a type of plastic, its just “more” reusable than the type of plastic that everything comes packaged in. Rubber is made from crude oil and is considered elastomer (like silicone, which is actually a hybrid of rubber and plastic polymers) which is why it’s naturally more elastic than plastic. Yes, it’s more sustainable for us as consumers and recyclers, but the only way things will actually get better, is if corporations stop creating plastic and wasting our natural resources.
Damn there’s some bitter Bettys in this comment section. Leave the girl alone if she likes moving things into glass jars let her do that! It’s clear that she likes going the extra mile and putting in extra effort. At the end of the day it is not your produce or your money at stake. Life is really too short to be policing someone else’s happiness when you could be pursuing your own.😂😂😂 also for you purists you out there please note that sustainability is different from one person to another some people can’t sustain a full-time job and others can if this is something she can keep up with it is therefore sustainable.💀💀 I honestly didn’t know that you “woke” millennial evinrometnalists were so damn judgey.
Wow. I have watched many fridge organization videos, but this was really great!! So informative, and you gave us reasons for doing what you did. I appreciate that!! Can I ask one question? (Which May be ridiculous,but....) what is the best way to store lettuces? Every time I try to buy & keep for more than a day or two they wilt and become disgusting. I’ve tried wrapping in paper towels, but that’s not even great and I’m trying to get out of using those! Suggestions?
I like the idea of plastic free living but chopping some of the veggies & storing them way ahead of the cooking time make them not so fresh anymore. Please peel the garlic yourself, it saves you from buying the plastic container that comes with it. There's a lot of different methods on how to easily peel them in batches. There's a documentary that talked about pre peeled garlic saying that Chinese prisoners are the ones peeling it.
My fridge would bring me more joy if the food I put in stayed there instead of being eaten by my roommate aka my unemployed husband. 8 years and he's still "looking" to find the right "fit" bitch the right fit is a paying job! 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
My Almond Milk comes in a thick plastic carafe shape. I don't like my food in plastic, so I transfer it to a glass jar, wash the plastic one, and use it to store things in my craft room or workshop. They all match and look so cute in the craft room. I only use the milk for coffee, so I only have one every week or two. Try to reuse plastic before recycle because it can only be recycled once and takes a lot of energy and large footprint to recycle it into a usable product.
Aww i feel so bad for lucie. Shes just trying to be as sustainable as possible. For all of you saying that it screams that she is rich, so.. It shows shes trying to use her money in the best way possible. She also might have thrown away a lot of plastic in this video, but that was only so she could start using glass containers. Everyone should just stop coming for her lol :)
Damn this fridge is beautiful! Honestly I do get where some of the criticisms in the comments come from, but I did still admire your intentions, and if this is what works for you, then power to ya! The germaphobe in me would have an anxiety attack whenever I opened a fridge of pre-cut veggies, because I know they spoil faster and I'm lazy so I'll forget them. BUUUTTTT, I will say for anyone who sees this, if you do want to start storing stuff in reusable containers (either Tupperware or glass), then start by a) reusing jars from things you buy and b) buying secondhand containers and jars from thrift stores! It's a lot cheaper, and you're recycling.

Just think about it....
Legends say if you comment early Lucie will reply! LOVE FROM INDIA!!❤❤❤❤
Munira Kudrati LEGENDS ARE RIGHT 😇😇😇
The word legends got me in a funny way.

this channel is entirely rich housewife content lol
What will bring me joy: When they make a self cleaning fridge.
Fridges are a bitch to clean out.
I just feel so sad that u have to justify yourself so much bc of all the hateful ppl in the world like they should just mind their own business damn
Husna Khan hey!! Lucie’s team here :) she wasn’t justifying - just explaining what’s she’s doing to help others make informed decisions❤️
love to see more vids about sustainability!
It looks beautiful. You have said that your kitchen cupboards are staying organized since you did them. I'm curious to know if your fridge will stay this way so an update in 6 months would be great!! :)
The Helpful Assistant will let ya know!!
If people would come for the Big corporations like this, the world might be a greener place:)) Thank you for a great video!
Another lovely video!
I really want to get into 'meal prepping' in the same way you have done here Lucy.
My main concern is how long pre-cut veg and pre-cooked grains will last in the fridge?
Thank you so much for helping me figure out how to live a lot more healthy Lucie!
Btw you can get proteins from a lot more natural sources then meat
It's so relaxing to watch vids about reorganizing... crazy the stuff we spend time watching online lol
lucie just wants her fridge to be pretty...
I like ur fridge that there is a sweet and savory side , I most definitely would be in the sweet side
JoHanna Luna we don’t have ketchup because michael hates it!!! Lol but we have mustard in the left door! And a ton of sauces like soy, teriyaki, etc.
But then how do you know the expiration dates if you take out all the packaging informationnnn?
If you were a witch you could use those old jars for spells and pickle jars are perfect for any jar or bottle spell. Also if you have a shop that involves crafting or little whatnots you can organize them into little bottles that have the same lid.
Love your refrigerator. Brand please!🤍😀🥛🍎🫑🌰🥗 Beautifully organized!
my mom makes sure our fridge is super organized
lol you think it's genius to readjust the shelves
That is a lot of food for two! As in, lots to eat before it expires/wilts/rottens
Love this ! It looks great and I agree with the view I think you're trying to get at - eco-consumerism is still consumerism !
Hi, Lucy, I live in Hong Kong and I love your videos
Ahhh hello from NYC!
I like how deeply you thought about this, it looks beautiful and I can’t wait to try it with my own fridge
Do I love this? Yes. But this is… honestly so tone deaf 😑
I know right ! Very well said ! They should mind their own business , that’s the way she likes it ! And it looks beautiful !
Yes finally I wanted to see this video from so long time ❤️😍😍
I love your videos Lucy! Great content as usual!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING!
Fridge doors won’t last too long. Heavy jars
I'm so glad that it worked for you guys Lucie!!!
I work on the fridge all day ❤
Afraid of handling raw meat? lol
I love your lifestyle Lucieeee!!!!!!!
This was so satisfying to watch
Karen Kingrey I’ve loved these fabric bags! I’ve also used things called green bags before that you can buy on amazon and keep things fresh!
Thank you!!!
when do you prep all your veggies??
Nancy Chen usually Sunday❤️😀😀😀
I love videos like this ❤️ so satisfying!!
Why doesn’t husband do it
Omg I need that wine container
I loooove Smart Sweets! 😍😍😍
watching this video is so satisfying:)
This fridge is GOALS.
I really enjoyed this one 😊
why is everyone so negative in the comments sheesh! she’s not perfect
This was nice to see because I’m not really into all the plastic containers people are using to organize their fridges. Thanks for the inspo!!
Beautiful 👌
Love it.
I need to do this!
Love you
Hi Lucie! Thank you for this vid. I was just wondering what's the correct way to clean the glass jars? I usually store homemade tomate sauce in them, and i never seem to be able to get rid of the smell of tomato. Thanks!
