I love your craft room. I have a lot of stuff too and I love it all. What I have done to make my space workable is I set up areas for each craft theme. I would not have any crafting supplies in any other room no mater what unless it was dedicated to sewing because that’s a whole other entity. Then I would seek and find the squarest containers I could find in 3 to 4 different sizes and sort each stash by category example: stickers, cutters, 12 x 12 paper pads and papers, adhesives etc. then I would label everything but only after I have went through the entire house garage attic etc. collecting everything in that category. Keeping 4 extra large bins gallon size in the garage for destashing. Once I have kept everything I truly loved and have been put away in my new craft room. and all four bins were filled I would sell mystery packs of stashes. In those stashes I would put random papers, cutters ink pads, writing tools, stickers, wrapping papers note cards tags etc. I would make about 200 and put on Etsy keeping them on the garage same weight pre packaged in the post office standard size box or open an account with fed ex who picks up right at your door as scheduled. All you do is print out a label and they both bring you free boxes. Price point should be based on shipping and contents. Plus whatever is left you could have a Saturday only crafters garage sale or put them on Facebook marketplace. I have done this several times and it works. Or just donate a bin to each school in your neighborhood. Happy crafting.

Good ideas! I should do something like that, but my problem is I can't bring myself to get rid of anything - at least not in large quantities! I might need it someday! lol!

I found 2 gallon freezer bags at Target and love them. I love your idea for left overs to sell and give to schools etc... I need to do this too.

I haven't bought any craft supplies in at least 3 or 4 months because when I started organizing my stuff I was overwhelmed. I am not going to buy anything until I complete at least 50 projects.
It is all just too much. If I lived to be 100 I couldn't use everything I have and buying stuff is addictive.

I’m overwhelmed with my whole darn house, 😢😢😢! But that is a wonderful idea I could use for every room 💡💡💡 Totally off topic but thanks for your your organizing video, enjoyed watching 😅!😊

I totally agree! I got overwhelmed cleaning my craft room and had to enlist my daughter's help. She is young and healthy and my health isn't as good as it used to be. So, now I can see the floor and everything is tidy. The next step is to go through each container one by one and see what's in it and decide if it stays or goes. Whew!

I think everyone got the same batch of decorative scissors back in the day. I've seen so many others with that collection, including myself lol. I'm in the process of gutting my craft room and repurposing furniture from all over the house, and the neighbors house lol. Can't wait to get it done. I'm about a day or two from painting, then I can start moving all my goodies in. I haven't had a place to make crafts or scrapbook in over 12 years, all been in storage, so it's been like Christmas for me, getting out and going through and sorting all my stuff, getting it ready for the new room! Good luck with your organizing. Take care.

So relatable!😂😂 It seems you've got the "squirrel syndrome", aka, you've got stuff you're looking for, but you can't find them. You find other stuff, like pens, keys, socks whatever, but never that one package of paper your looking for! 😊😊

Boy, you do have A LOT. My suggestion to you is not to throw anything but actual trash away, and don't give anything away that you want to keep, but put yourself on a spending freeze until you use up some of what you have. That is what I had to do when my sewing got out of control. I haven't bought a piece of fabric in a long time and I am still sewing. And when I say a long time, I mean years not weeks. Along with that spending freeze, don't accept any freebies either, unless you are going to pass it along to someone else, or a school or Assisted Living or something. Don't look thru the freebies either - just pass it along. I know it's tempting!

I find tearing paper tedious, so I use what you call the ‘crazy’ scissors to get that torn edge on a page. Thanks for sharing your craft room.

If you stood the scissors up on the handle end you would be able to see the different blade designs. A lot of the ends of the handles were flat too, so they would stand better on that end. Couldn’t tell if the bin was tall enough though.

Hi! I buy lots of storage at thrift stores, mostly plastic drawer units. They are under and on banquet tables and go as high as I can reach. I also have over 100 photo boxes in bookcases. For me, open storage just traps dust so I try to cover small supplies except for what goes on my desk. Moving to larger craft room so along with labeling, I am going to number the drawers and photo boxes and keep a list of where everything is. Hopefully, that means I will be able to find things quickly. Love your room and saw you have even more stuff than I do! Good luck organizing all of it. Always a big job! ❤

Any of the pens and any highlighters that don’t work, you can use to make homemade alcohol inks! Natasha from Treasure Books has a great tutorial on it. I have to sort and organize too. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have so much stuff!

You can unscrew the ribbon dowel if not being used for ribbon and then you will have space to put other containers or things you want to put in them. I took mine off when I bought 2 of these at Michael’s years ago.

  • @carolinecordelia
    @carolinecordelia Год назад +1

I would have got rid of the scissors that is similar, but I see why it's hard for you. If you still use them you should keep them, but maybe get another storage in a pen holder or something and use your drawer for other things.
The stuff you don't like, use or need should go out of your craft space. If you donate it or keep them another place. If you put the stuff into a container and put it in the garage with a label with the date, and if you have not opened the box for example a year it should be donated without checking it more.
You have a lot in a small space, and that's the problem, so to actually get to use it all you need to take something away. Vertical storage is better than horizontal for things like pens and scissors and so on if you have room to organize. I think your space is amazing, but it needs better organizing. I like the Home edit organizing, but it's not something that people would keep up with as we don't really have 10 excatly like things that fit into the same sized bins, and I think bins are expencive too. I have began to use fridge bins for my stamps and dies, but it took two years to afford all the bins. You should check out Clutterbug.com and youtube channel, she has so much more good metods for storage, I have learned a lot from watching her videos.
I found out what type of organizer I was and realized why all the storage I had tried didn't work for me. Now I have a smaller craft room than before so I have all my stuff in two high Alex drawers and three small Alex drawers, two kallax units with bins, and two bookshelfs and a small closet, but my room is better organized than when I had a big craft room with a closet space that had a lot of shelfs, and I also had a big closet that held so much stuff.
I found out that if I got rid of all the packing on flowers and everything and put them into plastic container it took up less space than all the packing.
If you can afford to buy some bins or boxes it would help as you really have enough storage space. I find that measuring my space for the bins is so smart, I can't understand that I didn't taght of this myself instead of just buying random bins and boxes on sale.
I found some boxes I liked and now I have invested in a lot of them over two years. It's an expencive brand, but it's also a brand that has been around for decades so I was sure to actually get the same bins and boxes after two years. When you buy bins and boxes it often goes away after just a few months, and if you're not rich enough to just take 200 $ to use for storage you will end up with ten different ones or you will have to choose a brand that has been around and is sure to stay for the amount of time you need to get what you need. In the meantime you should not add any new craft items that you don't really need. I only bought a few items like glue and I just used the money to invest in storage and I don't regret it as my space now is so much more organized than before, and I have used so much more than before.
I didn't actually get rid of things I use or will use for the holdidays and such, but I just reorganized it. It took me a month or so to reorganize as I just put post it notes on the drawers until I was sure I liked it and that it was what I needed, like what items I have in the drawers under my desk and what items goes elsewhere. I had to change some of them, but for the most part it have worked very good. It's actually excactly one year since I moved in today, but all my stuff moved in 2.April 2022. I still need to organize something, but I think using a whole month before making the labels was a great idea, I picked it up from a organizing expert on tv here in Norway.
Another thing I did before organizing I put up a large table in my living room and put things that was the same carhegory into boxes or piles and then I got boxes that was right for my space, not my stuff, but the stuff fit perfectly as I organized it to fit, just like all the people on tv and youtube.
Most people is not sponsored and it makes it harder, but not impossible, but it take time and patience. I don't have any patience with my ADHD, but I had no choice if I wanted it to be funtional and also look good. I was just fed up with my space looking like a garage sale instead of a store.
