Crafting Challenge: Viewer-Prompted Junk Journal Creations #2
Wasnt a waste. You have lots of the cases. First try gave you the idea
You're doing a great job; I chuckled when you showed the books hiding under the bed...hee hee hee! 😊
Oh i saw a Fresh Start Donut box❤️❤️❤️ Our most favorite donut shop ever!!!!
Lol! They are so good!
Beautiful!
This was so much fun! ❤❤
You are doing great & you will get your room back fresh and organized 💪👍 I will tell you something I do when I organize and decide to get rid of stuff (might give you an idea😊)... if they are not my style anymore or if I have a lot of like buttons, paperclips, ribbons...ect I take some of them and donate everything because keeping an awful so many paperclips , buttons, ribbons or whatever it will take space and it is impossible to use them all in this life 😂 I just put everything in a bag and donate them as soon as possible because I don't want to change my mind 😂 as for books I stopped buying books unless I get rid of some like if I get 2 books...I had to get rid of 2 and the same for paper...ect
It's not a sickness, it's a second hobby... collecting craft supplies and using craft supplies... two different hobbies haha. Thanks for sharing.
I love how you store your punches. It’s great that you can see them.
I think it looks great
I like the writing on the book cover
Fun stuff. Love to see what you do with this stuff
I love all those 70s patterns. Some dresses look early enough 70s to rock a pair of my go go boots
Pattern girls can be fussy cut for ephemera or to adorn a journal cover. Cute patterns.
I still have my childhood copy of “One Kitten for Kim”. I found a copy while I was thrifting & hoping to make a childhood journal with it. Loved all the other items you found.
I was going to say the same. Concentrate on one object at a time go around and collect all sewing Like things. Just gather all first then empty those things together and go thru all those and what to keep. Find one place for paper, envelopes, and do each project that way, recycle, donate to senior centers, elementary or middle school art dept. and then you’ll see the piles go down, seriously. I’ve done it. And put things back in there place after use.
Mary, if I can add something. Maybe look to putting "like with like" items. The safety pins, bulb pins could go in that sewing box, etc... Just trying to help. I know how frustrating it is when you want to hang on to things and start having issues with space. I had to take boxes that I could break down later and start putting the likes with likes then I sorted out the things I knew I wouldn't use. I know I had to take all things off of bookshelves and rework them, I've done that several times. I hope you can get thru it and get the craft space that feels good. The only other thing I can say is---LABEL EVERYTHING LOL. I'm so glad I did that.
I had never heard your Elsie connection! What a wicked good find
I really like the Numbers in Action book. The illustrations are fantastic.
I was jealous when I saw your Whitman’s price guide. Last week I saw one for Little Golden Books, but it was all black and white. If it had been in color, I would have got it in a heartbeat!
Some Nazi memorabilia is pretty beautiful too. They had great artists working for them. Just because something is “beautiful”, it doesn’t mean that it did not cause pain. And yeah, you are totally free to make your choices. It just shows what kind of person you are.
Mary: since you mentioned that this video was done in June, what does your studio look like now in September? My studio was out of control too. I just didn’t know why I didn’t put things away when I brought them into the studio. Several months ago, I started doing just that. Bring it in, put it away. And it’s working. Another thing I learned is you just can’t keep everything, although you see potential. I really have to watch myself with that. That is still an issue I’m dealing with. Reality says you won’t have time to create all these things. So,- I write the idea down and make notes about that project, knowing I’ll be able to found the item again or something like it, if I decide to make it. It’s working. Just a couple of tips that have worked for me. Carol from California
I'd like to know as well. It's such a process, especially figuring out how to remember where it all is...my problem.
So enjoyed going through the buttons with you and your mom! Loved the button cards.
Enjoying your video, and hear my tiny town in Florida mentioned - hello from Eustis, Florida!!
Loved this! ✂️☀️
You are so motivating. I started with everything on my floor. I either put it away or gave away. I just love your button cards. They’re beautiful. I’m going thru cabinets next.
I use 12x12 scrapbook boxes as project boxes. They stack nice and keep things contained. Hope that helps.
Yes, I have a few of those. I just picked up a couple at a thrift store, so I may use them for that!
Have you ever read the storybook, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie"? that is the story of your table!! I thought of that as soon as you described the people binders. Now when it won't fit on the shelf... you will need to re-organize the shelf...and so on and so on! You are so cute, Keep up the challenge, you will be happy when it's alllllll done! Hugs, Mel
Oh my gosh, yes! And it's never-ending!
You may want to keep in mind that Betty's Creative is having her yard sale in October. You can probably box up some of your discards and have her sell it for you 👍❤️
Yes, I was there the other day talking to them about it! I don't know if I'll have time, but I'm going to try!
I thought I was the only one😂. I feel your pain and will watch your journey with a hope it will inspire me!
Hi Mary- you make me laugh. The alphabet tape was used in the classrooms. They were stuck across the tops of each individual student desk as a reference for each pupil. Thank you for the wonderful videos.
That pink pointy button is glass and even if you don’t get another button from the jar it paid for the jar. You can wash the buttons in warm soapy water but don’t let them just soak too long. The metal bar with buttons is a sweater holder. Or I guess sweater clasp. I’m jealous of the amazing buttons you picked up. ❤❤❤
Such a great haul! Wow!!🤩 Especially loved all the playing cards, the children’s books and the fabrics. I have a weakness for children’s books too and also love when they aren’t in the best condition as I then feel more comfortable cutting into them.
Mary. Dear Mary. I filled in for the people at the thrift shop who priced crafts one week and accessories another two weeks. I thought about you every time I stapled and then taped something. I stapled to deter people from opening it, then taped it to prevent the staple catching on skin, other packages, etc. and also to keep the price tag on it. Jus t sayin'... LOL I thought about you for ❤three weeks straight. 😂
lol! That's funny! Sorry to be in your head so much! I do appreciate not getting stuck with the staples though!
I just love watching your haul videos mary, you always get such a great selection of items x
Thank you!
The Honeywell cards are from 1968. You found some great books. I believe that is a needle case at the end of your video. Many would screw apart like that. Enjoyed watching. :-)
They make an iron on interfacing that you can iron to the oranges fabric and it won’t stretch.
Oh, I might have some of that somewhere! Thank you for the tip! Also, thank you for the dyed paper! It's gorgeous, as usual!
Yeah, this reminds me of what I was like. I get dopamine from shopping so I was doing way too much of it. I stopped the shopping and now I get dopamine from taking pictures during my photography walks with specific subjects or colors or themes in mind (it’s a lot like shopping) and during day trips or road trips so I can put the pictures or draw the pictures in my travel journal. I also love taking pictures for my nature journal and journaling in nature. Using a camera for my hauls gives me the same dopamine without the stuff, plus I have a record of my day, which is nice.
That's a great replacement for shopping! Cooler weather is coming, so I'll be doing more outdoor activities and less shopping!
So I’m not alone?! 😂
Collecting tons of stuff is sure the downside of this craft, but it always feels so good when you find just the perfect item for a journal in your massive amount of stash!
Best of luck mary. Its a never ending process x
You got this girl!!! Motivate the rest of us...please!!!
Mary: three classifications; keep, donate, sell! It works. Carol from California
I've heard that, but I have a really hard time getting rid of anything!
I will be watching. I have started sorting and organizing my craft room. I went on a spending freeze last February. Since then I have only bought a wee bit. I can’t wait to see your progress as you figure out your room.
Sending some paper your way😊
This is Beautiful if I could be there. I would bid as much as I could afford and pray that I would win. Mary please don't put yourself down. You have a lot of talent. I use to put myself down making cards. Until one day I showed my cards to the women Come to find out she was the sectarian of the school. She wanted to buy all my cards and make cards just for the school district. She wanted to start with 500. I told her sorry there is no way I could. I have trouble with my hands and I was doing it for only special friends. Do please encourage yourself. It is really awesome 😮😮😮
I love the decorated envelopes
The packaging looks like a paint palette...maybe an art journal type thing.
I just discovered your video. I am thinking I should do a glue book! Maybe have different sections of things! Maybe animals in one section, nature or scenery in another, etc.!
Or maybe I will just do it random on second thought! 🤷♀️
@@conniestake651 Do whatever strikes you!
@@thepaperturtle Thank you!
You could enclose your miscellaneous ephemera in sways or happy mails. If you sell a journal, put them in a goodie basket. Hope those ideas help❤️
Mary: it was very clear to me that the your muse was telling you to step back, get a bit more organized and that you are getting ready to start another project. That’s just the way it works. I’ve been on this planet a lot longer than you, and that is what’s happening here. It’s just part of the process of creating. Enjoy it! Carol from California
@caroltanzi29 Yes! That's exactly what I'm doing now! You'll see that in future videos!
