    I’m glad the safety score now reset to 100, the last time they did this it was reset to 92%, which was a bummer for me as I was at a 96 score. This late night score also affects people with a life. It would be more effective if they suspended the late night dings on the weekends. The worse score dropper for me is when you drive in narrow streets and the car think that you are about to collide with another car, I find myself driving on the other side of the street when possible to avoid those dings.

    I got my first Tesla 1 week ago and got Tesla insurance with the safety score and FSD. The first 4 days my score was 100. Today I was driving to work on the highway moving in a straight line. I had my hands on the wheel paying attention to the road. However the FSD did not sense any "applied force." I did not hear a warning sound, although the warning may have appeared on the screen. I was looking at the road. The FSD initiated a "forced disengagement" and car immediately began to brake on the highway so I accelerated back to the cruising speed limit. This caused my safety score to drop from 100 to 82. Is it difficult to return to above 90 again?
    Later today I had FSD turned on and car was going 45 mph. The green light suddenly turned yellow just as car was almost underneath the light and proceeded to slam brakes which could have caused car behind to rear end me. I had to turn FSD off. FSD also proceeded to pull into oncoming traffic and I had to slam brakes to disengage it. Does this count as hard stop against me? I should get safety points for catching FSD error. There are definite flaws. I have been driving for 15+ years and have never been in an auto accident before.

  • @thomasbihn
    @thomasbihn 4 месяца назад +1

    Estimate for a score of 90 is $122/mo with Tesla, which equates to $732/half AAA insurance is under $600 with additional discounts for having their app on the phone. So without an idea on how much discount the Tesla price would be above 90 and without being able to bundle home and auto, I can't see trying it. at this point.

      @@TeslaJoy That was the quote they provided in the app. Is there a way to get a quote for how much it would reduce for a higher safety score or for using AP/FSD? I can't imagine the reduction would add up to 20% off unfortunately. I was surprised it was as high as it was comparatively.

      @@TeslaJoy Hey Joy, thank you for your response, and I appreciate your videos too. So it’s interesting that I never hear anyone from the company, including Elon, talk about the progress they’re making in getting these states to approve of their insurance, as well as selling direct to customers, as they still can’t do that in some states, and so that’s clearly hurting their sales too.
      I thought it was interesting that when I picked up my new 2024 Model S, two weeks ago, and the people at the customer service center, never talked to me about the insurance or the opportunity to take advantage of the tax credits being offered in the state, as well as the federal tax credit, of course, I am aware of these things because I traded in a 2018 Tesla Model 3, and the reason I traded it was because they opened up the window for a second time to allow people like me to transfer FSD Full Self Driving to the new vehicle, so I couldn’t pass that deal up and so I decided to get the Model S because I thought it would be more readily available, because there’s so much interest in people wanted to buy the new 2024 refreshed, Model 3 that some are calling the Highland edition.
      So I think this is a missed opportunity and Tesla should talk to its customers about the advantages of checking their states tax credit in addition to the federal tax credit, reminding them of these things, as that’s a valuable savings in terms of the overall purchase of the vehicle.
      So I’m gonna check with my state to see whether or not I can just cancel my insurance, and put up a bond to cover my financial responsibility in terms of their regulations, as that may be a better route to go, then to continue to pay these high insurance rates to these insurance companies like, Allstate, GEICO, progressive etc., because what they’re getting away with now is nothing short of price gouging, as my monthly payments to the insurance company is larger than the payment to the bank that I financed the car through.
      I mean, what’s wrong with that picture right?
      Cheers 🥂

    Joy, does using FSD during the curfew period negate the penalty? For the most part roads are empty during that period and is the perfect period for FSD. I had some amazing FSD drives last night 8-10PM. It feels like they replaced the Robot with a Human. Virtually all of my local common invention points are gone. The only thing it needs to improve is residential street intersections when no traffic is detected. It waits too long to go when no VRU’s are detected.

    • @TeslaJoy
      @TeslaJoy  4 месяца назад

      I think as long as you don’t drive manually during those hours you won’t be penalized.

  • @harunrachman3143
    @harunrachman3143 4 месяца назад

    The Tesla safety score application is way off on its measurements. I take the same drive a few times a week and drive the same way and the scoring can be as much a 30 point difference. Why? I once headed to get some burgers from in-n-out and way in the drive thru line with about 30-35 cars in line and just moving forward on car at a time and the scoring app gave me a 60. What the heck k was that about? Another time my eye was hurting at about 3 am in the morning and I drove one mile to a 7-11 to get some eye drops and it gave me a 70. There were probably about 3 cars on the road the whole time I was driving. Someone needs to fix this app. When I was testing 12.3 it did break pretty hard and took corners at excessive speeds and got 100 score. As a software coder for more than 40 years all I can say is that the software sucks badly! Nowadays I mostly ignore what the scores it reports because of the odd scoring behaviours. Can someone with access to X let Elon know about this obvious problem. And FSD 12.3 is nice but has a long way to go.

    If you do need to make a claim with Tesla insurance, good luck. They are very non responsive, and you likely will not be able to talk to anyone live even if someone else is at fault. They will put the responsibility on you to resolve it, and push you to interact with the party at fault's insurance company. They make it clear that you will have to foot the bill on the deductible until resolved with the other insurance company, even it you are not fault. This will take months to resolve so you will be out your deductible until then.

      @@TeslaJoy so your answer led me to digging for an answer. I found this on the Tesla Motors Club forum…
      Ok, found my answer. After an incredible 45 minute long wait with Tesla Insurance, I spoke with Glenn who told me in short that version 2.0 has to be approved by each individual state's commission that oversees vehicle insurance. Currently, only two states are on Version 2.0. Glenn also said he was actually part of the internal team that helped make the changes from 1.2 to 2.0 (specifically around the late night driving). So, until my state (CO) approval's Tesla's insurance changes that includes version 2.0, I will be stuck on version 1.2
      Also, changing from version 1.2 to 2.0 only occurs at the end of your term. Since Tesla does six month terms, the earliest I could hope to go from 1.2 to 2.0 is September of this year (again, pending state approval).
      Hope this helps people! I told them they really should add this to their FAQ on Tesla's site.

    This is not going well - I am on 2.1 but my score keeps-s going down - was at 97 now at 92 - I am getting dinged for “hard braking” and checking my drives this seems to happen when I am approaching to make a left turn into my street - definitely no hard braking but I do use the brake a little just out of habit - I wonder if I can dispute these bogus dings?

    • @TeslaJoy
      @TeslaJoy  4 месяца назад

      Unfortunately I don't think you can. There's an algorithm that calculates all these based on your velocity and how much braking was done compared to the speed of car. I'd recommend that you use FSD so you won't be dinged anymore.

      @@TeslaJoy interesting hack - I turned off “Hold” and switched to the “roll” setting - just made 2 trips and no dings - safe score is back up to 94…. According to another RUclips video the combination of regeneration braking and my braking is what is likely tipping the scale against me - I have to learn to get better at the one pedal driving & limit touching my brake pedal to less than 3 seconds apparently - or, as you recommend; use FSD more

      This happens to me as to turn into my neighborhood you need to cross 3 lanes of traffic. FSD decided to accelerate as oncoming cars going 60 were approaching and I had to slam the brakes. If I hadn't done so, I would have been t-boned. I should have gotten safety points for preventing a collision caused by FSD but instead I got dinged for hard breaking. Even if the insurance would pay for everything it is not worth damaging my own or anyone else's health.
