  • @czwarty7878
    @czwarty7878 5 лет назад +301

    So many armchair generals here. No, this gun is not complicated. It's just an AR-18 system in polymer housing that protects the internals from dust and dirt, which means it is more durable and has higher reliability than other weapons of this type. The shell ejection system and tunnel is not complex or unnecessary - it is a huge advantage for left-handed shooters because hot brass isn't hitting your face, this was some of the biggest problems with bullpup weapons back then and FN solved it brilliantly. Some bullpups have options of ejecting on the other side, but you must change it before, it takes few seconds but for example you can't use it when you need to change hands, for example leaning left in CQB - you switch the gun to other hand. Also the tunnel is almost impossible to clog or block or damage. It's all but a weakspot, it is basically idiotproof, you can't break it even if you wanted to. You people just have no idea how it's built but you're the first to criticize not knowing shit. All in all it's a very good rifle and it's a huge shame it didn't catch on, it's a great design. Just because it looks modern and unique doesn't mean it's unreliable or complicated. Slovenian army uses F2000 as their service rifle - they love it, and they used AK variant before so they have a great comparison and they know very damn well what a reliable gun is. But they don't talk shit about F2000 because they use it with great success. Ian from Forgotten Weapons also was under great impression of F2000 (or rather FS2000, the semi-auto version) and he handled hundreds of weapons, old and modern.

    • @ostiariusalpha
      @ostiariusalpha 5 лет назад +25

      It is not an AR-18 operating system, Ian got that wrong (he does that sometimes). The F2000 uses a tappet system, which has some similarities to the short piston recoil system of the AR-18, but they certainly aren't the same.

    • @czwarty7878
      @czwarty7878 5 лет назад +12

      @@ostiariusalpha You're right, thanks for clearing it up. However, can't it still be called an AR-18 system in the end? Tappet system works similarly to short stroke, and the overall system is similar. So overally it's more AR-18 than, say, M1 Carbine. Just how calling HK416 a modified AR-15 is not wrong, even though it uses different gas system which is a big change.

    • @ostiariusalpha
      @ostiariusalpha 5 лет назад +11

      @@czwarty7878 The F2000 has an offset op rod, so even there it is more like its ancestor, the M1 Carbine, than the AR-18 and its centerline op rod. The HK can more fairly be called a hybrid of the AR-18 and AR-15 than trying to force some connection to FN's bullpup; the tappet and short piston recoil systems perform similar enough that you can call the F2000 more like a nephew to the AR-18, or perhaps a second cousin. A parallel to this relationship can be seen with the direct impingement systems of the Ljungmann and MAS-49 having related features, yet not being direct ancestors of, the AR-15's internal piston system.

    • @arielgarcia5065
      @arielgarcia5065 5 лет назад

      @@ostiariusalpha sometimes when people say "it's an ar18 operating system" they're actually talking about the 7 lugs bolt... Which doesn't really means it's an ar18 but you get the idea.

    • @ostiariusalpha

      it actually works pretty well, if you have ever shot or handled one of these rifles. every now and again a few casings will get kicked out, and tipping the gun down makes any loose ones just fall out. the cases will even get kicked out when the gun is at an upward angle. they do seem to be picky with ammo though

    • @paulshi5974
      @paulshi5974 5 лет назад +9

      I actually had the chance to shoot it at a range. Jamming is a noticeable issue. It sometimes can't go through 30 rounds in under 2 jams. But my biggest gripe is its progressive trigger in full auto. You have to pull it hard and long to engage full auto. You can't expect to squeeze and drag the trigger because it will only fire one round (semi-auto mode) and won't allow you to pull all the way back.
      Other than those issues, this gun is fun. Its look got me hooked in the first place, a bit less recoil than an M4, very light weight, and so comfortable to rest against the shoulder and cheek.

    Picture this weapon, but instead of a standard 5.56mm 30-round mag, imagine a P90 5.7mm magazine that has been “rolled up” like a snail shell or a tape measurer. The overall width with be very comfortable fitting under your armpit area, unlike a standard drum mag that is exceptionally wide. You would still get 50 rounds of armor piercing, low recoil, high rate of fire, BUT unlike a standard banana-shaped mag, it would be shorter relative to the chamber.

      @EzraeL91 3 года назад +20

      One of the problem of the bullpup design (having the magazine behind the trigger handle) is that the cartridges get ejected on the same level of the face, making it impossible to operate from the side where is the ejection. This way, instead, the casings get extracted from the front of the weapon, and that makes the weapon operable with a dominant left hand too.

    Más lugares donde encasquillarse, no entiendo la ventaja de acumular los casquillos en una recamara superior, aumenta el peso, vuelve más complejo el mecanismo, la distancia entre la mira y el cañón es mayor siendo menos fiel, más riesgo de trabarse. No encuentro lo práctico, mejor un ak-74

      Yes , it is , sometimes , even easier to use in a trench because of the shell tube , which make stoppages simpler and easier to solve , also the gun is more accurate than a AK and , overall , more reliable , because it is a piston system and is a very sealed gun , meaning debris is hard to get in your gun , and if it does , well , you just remove the mag , move the charging handle , and put the mag in , with an AK , it could be harder to solve

    You have twice the complexity, twice the cost, twice the difficulty when cleaning compared to any other roller-delayed blowback rifle just so that the brass cases can eject less reliably?

    • @thibaultd7979
      @thibaultd7979 2 года назад

      They eject reliably, it's done so that brass won't hit you in the face if you're shooting it left handed. This is good for left handed shooter obviously but also for right handers when they have to switch shooting grip during CQC.

    I’d rather a P90 tbh, no complicated ejection tunnel, ergonomically very smooth, nothing to catch on things, good cyclic rof, & shells eject out the bottom. Truly ambidextrous.

    • @DavidEllis94
      @DavidEllis94 4 года назад

      This fires full on rifle cartridges, though. They are considerably longer than 5.7mm FN, and it would thus be harder to make a rifle in 5.56 with a P-90 style mag, where rounds are stored laterally.

    • @paulcollyer801
      @paulcollyer801 4 года назад

      David Ellis never the less, the 5.7 x 28 is an effective round, and the pistol has an almost equivalent muzzle velocity. One round for both weapons.

    • @DavidEllis94
      @DavidEllis94 4 года назад

      @@paulcollyer801 Whoa, definitely not. 5.7 is absolutely not ballistically comparable to 5.56.

    • @paulcollyer801
      @paulcollyer801 4 года назад

      David Ellis didn’t say they were comparable, just said the 5.7 28 was effective. Yes, the NATO 5.56 is a faster round, but bigger is why NATO dropped from a 7.62 to 5.56, more ammo for the weight. All swings and roundabouts.

    • @DavidEllis94
      @DavidEllis94 4 года назад

      @@paulcollyer801 Yeah, just double checked. A US M-855A1 FMJBT fired from an M-4A1 sends a 62 grain (4.02 gram) projectile at about 910 meters per second, so it carries 1,664 Joules at the muzzle.
      Fired from a P-90, the 5.7x28mm SS-190 is a 31 grain (2.01 gram) projectile traveling at 715 meters per second and thus is carrying just 534 Joules at the muzzle. That's also in a slightly fatter, considerably lighter package than M-855A1, so aerodynamics will suffer, meaning what is already inferior performance to 5.56mm will only drop off more rapidly with distance.
      So, no, *really* not a suitable round to fill the shoes of 5.56.
