My childhood dream job was to be a doctor. I'm now a medical student and as long as I pass all my exams and assessments, that's what I will become. I just hope it was the right choice
Never had a dream job. (I’m an early 90s millennial fyi). I think I’m definitely suffering the consequences of not living a passionate life. I’m currently a data analyst with an MSc but the job climate is impossibly hard to progress in. Corporate jobs kill you from the inside
I’m an early 90s Millennial and never really had a dream job in mind. I’ve been stuck in customer service since I was 15 because I can’t afford to get a college degree 🙃 My options are extremely limited
I can relate very much to your comment. I feel the same, and is not that im not a passionate or intense person, but when it came to career I didn't find anything that I was good at or that I dreamed of doing. I don't dislike my current job as a corporate but can't say I love it or care very much for it, it pays my bills, and if I were to pursue my dream job... I really don't know what I would like to be doing (realistically, because ofc I'd like to male a living by traveling in luxurious places, but who doesn't want that😂)
I found the "only 10% of people work their dream job" fact quite comforting. Throughout my life as I got old and grew as a person I wanted to be many different things. When I was a kid I wanted to be an F1 driver, then towards the end of school I decided I wanted to be an engineer in an F1 team and I went to uni to study mechanical engineering. I never really had good grades in school but I somehow got an unconditional offer at one of my choices of uni and I got into their mech eng course with a foundation year. I passed the foundation year, but I only got into a semester of the full course before I started falling further and further behind, before eventually dropping out after not doing the exams at the end of the semester or attending a single lecture after. During my foundation year, however, I had to commute across London into uni 3 times a week for classes so I found myself on trains very often, and as a train nerd I enjoyed this very much, more than uni. There came a point where I realised I actually like trains much more than I do F1 and I'd much rather be driving one than being some engineer in a sport I'm not that into anymore. When I stopped going to classes I was unemployed for the rest of the academic year from January until October, until I got a job in a supermarket that October. That job, which I'm currently still in, along with other problems in my life, led me to being so miserable that I drank quite a lot, and the only time I was sober was during a shift. I even hospitalised myself at one point after injuring myself quite badly and they had me stay the night. During the couple of months after, I hadn't touched alcohol. However, in that October, I saw the train operator that I used to take to uni which I really wanted to drive for were hiring trainee drivers. I applied and they accepted my application. They then had me do some online assessments which I passed, and it was the only time in my life I really put effort into preparing for a test. I was waiting for an invite to a stage called 'Driver Assessments', which is basically a whole day of assessments before an interview at the end. After my online assessment, there were several MONTHS of silence. In January, I broke my humerus (between my elbow and my shoulder) and the DAY AFTER that happened was when they FINALLY sent me an invite to the Driver Assessments that I had waited so long for. Obviously, I couldn't go and I only regained adequate motion in my arm 2 months into healing, and by that time my one shot was long gone. **TLDR:** What I'm trying to get at with all of this is that maybe I am not supposed to do what I want to do in life, as life has failed me at every turn. Maybe I'm supposed to spend the rest of my working life working as a cashier at a supermarket and be stuck at home with my mother.
this sounds awful. and I mean not just your situation, but also the very unfortunate chain of events. I can totally feel what you're going through. but don't you ever stop chasing your dream or take opportunities to better your life. let death put a stop to that, but nothing or no-one else.
As a kid I wanted to be a soldier because I enjoyed the concept of fighting and victory. But as I got older, I realized being a soldier sucked and became a lawyer instead, which is also about fighting and victory, but with words instead of bullets.
@@lisawithans-vx9lt From my experience, people join the legal profession either for the money, or because they admire lawyers, or because their family pushed them. Which one are you?
I wanted to be a scientist when I grow up, the 'Thosmas Edison' type (yeah, I read more about him after I access to internet) Now I am a data scientist. It's not what I actually wanted, but it's kinda my field of interest and the name wise it matches. So it's a win for me
I wanted to be an architect and change the building industry! Recently I just bought my own construction company, where I've been working as an architect :)
My dream job was to be a traveler, trying different food around the world. I do it partially as a consultant and mostly traveling solo. Let's say I made it in 20% 😂
it’s crazy to think about how millennials used to run wild without consequences all over the internet but now they run companies and have families and start looking like their parents
I mean, considereding that a person from 1997-98 is considered a gen z person, many are married or a year or two away from starting their own family like wtf 😭
I never truly had a dream job as a kid that I had some passion or goal put into it which is why I'm so lost in finding my career, it always bewildered me how so many people could find these obscure careers. I enjoyed Japanese classes and wanted to do animation and maybe could've gone the route related to them but didn't feel the interest I thought I did with them
I gave up my dream job because I was savagely attacked and .. well.... and, oddly enough, it happened 38 years ago tonight, as in, right this minute. I ran away. I literally ran away from finishing school, dealing with the attack, and pursuing what would've no doubt been a fantastic, happy, financially-rewarding life. Yep.. now I am a bus driver living in a crappy city that I despise in a crappy small apartment. I miss that young 21-year-old woman I was, and sometimes wish I could go back in time and face everything, and keep going down that path to a happy life. But things were different back then. That was then, and this is now, and I guess this is my lot in life, and I just have to keep on keepin' on, right?
i am pretty confident that i'll be able to get my dream job (freight train driver) for a few reasons: 1 there's a shortage of train drivers in my country 2 most fright trains where i live run at night which is when i like to be awake 3 i feel like i could work pretty well alone
As a kid, I wanted to be a comedian, but I simply changed interests. I have so many interests, like playing music instruments, writing music scores, learning language, reading, chess, but I really got a passion for film and writing at high school, so I'm still trying to squeeze that in next to programming.
my dream job is to be international like an interpreter, spy, ambassador, or other foreign relations type of job. thing is i picked the most popular language, but even the people who speak spanish have different levels but i kinda went cold on my path to develop those skills. but i LOVE foreign stuff. and people who are polyglots are the coolest ever.

I'm a Millennial and the struggle shown in the video perfectly encapsulated my struggles too. My childhood dream job is to become a scientist/ astronaut.
As I kid I always wanted to be a lawyer then in about 8th grade I realized how boring it would be and started thinking of director, author, cop, even the army.
Mine’s been physicist since reception, currently saving up to go study in University in Germany, for physics when I’m older so I think I’ll stick to it
I decided in fifth grade that I wanted to be a writer I changed my mind in my senior year after taking many steps to get there after working in fast food for a week I figured that if I could fall in love with something as base level as fast food that there must be something else worth searching for than my first hobby I still write poetry (and have won college writing awards for it) and short stories but am patiently waiting to learn how my goals turn out and/or change for the future
I had many growing up, Pilot, Cop, Soldier. I am 23 now and I am still in university, I am about to drop out because university is just not for me, I fail most of my classes because I just cant handle it anymore. Joining the Army next year. So I guess I am in the process of getting my dream job lol, not sure I will enjoy it as much as I thought I would as a child 🤣
My childhood dream job was to be a chemist. But my parents want me to become a nurse because of my personality. And I kind of wished I had more opportunities to explore my curiosity in the sciences. I’ll try and make the most of what I have right now and see how it goes
As a child i wanted to be a pilot. When I was 15, I started to work as a technician for a Telecommunication Company. After 9 months of mandatory civilian service (instead of 6 months army) I decided to study pharmacy
When I was a child I never had a dream job, I just knew I really wanted to become a father... I'm now 29 years old and have a 1,5 year old and I feel so blessed... It was all I could ever hope for and more
My childhood dream job was to be an artist. Generally my dream job has changed but it’s always been art related (Graphic Designer, Storyboard/concept artist, etc) I’m still gonna try
Dips childhood Dream job was to be an Air hostess in SJ & a free doctor...she didn't gave up she's already a free doctor but the one is left grinding for it❤❤
As a milennial, im realizing my "dream job" isn't going to provide financial security. Theres a lot of times where opportunity may not come since it requires bouncing from contract to contract so while I love the idea of what it could be, the reality, for me is that its a great side job but i need to find something else. And im not sure what that is. Traveling all the time is too hard on my body. Maybe when I have health insurance and can comfortably live I can reconsider traveling for work all the time but right now I just need consistent hours that allow me to live comfortably. My dream job as a kid was to be a bagel maker. If i could find somewhere that paid me a living wage for that, I'd still choose it and be happy.
My dream job is still to build and race race cars Racing at Le Mans, The Nurburgring, Silverstone, or Leguna Seca is definitely top of my bucket list For right now, becoming a mechanical engineer is my immediate goal, it’s a bit more realistic, and more importantly, will allow me to design and build my own race car so that I can get proper track experience, combined with my two year Automotive Technology degree
My childhood dream job was and still is to be a content creator/influencer, especially involving gaming, I still haven’t given up on this dream at 16 and have just started a course in esports at college : )
My childhood dream job was to be a race car driver, because my favorite childhood movie at the time was Cars. It has changed twice now the first change was to become an engineer, and now i want to be a historian.
wanted to be an astrophysicist. after a long year of giving it my absolute best at the time, I didn't even make it to the third round of the Astrophysics Olympiad. During the process, I realized although the end goal was attractive, there was no way I could do this for 30 years lmao. (gen z here)
As a kid I wanted to be an ideal doctor(kinda like doctor strange😂 although I don't want what happened to his hands💀 and also because being able to save someone's life sounds cool enough😂 and is nothing less than a super power I believe🤍)...Now I have qualified the entrance exam and soon will be starting my med college so yeah will be persuing my dream profession... will try my best to become a good one...wish me luck🤞🏻
I currently want to become a pro volleyball player. Although I'm still 12 so it might change. But I dont see it changing without a injury or something. I am lifting weights, stretching, sleeping enough, trying to eat healthy, practicing a lot of volleyball skills ( I Can do jump serves pretty consistently) I'm very tall at 170+cm at 12, and learning discipline.
Currently I wanna be a mechanical engineer. First it was a software engineer and then civil engineer (I know, engineers are cool and my gpa was a civil engineer)
My dream job was to become an astronaut. I know very cliche but I loved the idea of jumping around on the moon, doing tasks in the ISS, float around in space and see earth from far away and appreciate our blue little planet where we all live together. Today Im just a girl serving you near your local Starbucks but Im ok with it.
When I was like 3 years old I wanted to be a supreme Court Justice. My pediatrician ask me what do I want to do when I grow up and I replied I want to go to Harvard and be a supreme Court Justice; three-year-old me had his stuff figured out pretty good. I went to law school did pre-law in my undergrad, did IPLE, Model Congress, and Model UN, and law in highschool, and now I work in tech lol. I realized that being on the inside of a courtroom and filing a ton of documentation isn't something that brings me the level of fulfillment that I guess I'm helping people grow their business and leverage technology, so I switched.
i never had a dream job. thats probobly why i felt so miserable as a teenager and young adult. i grew acustomed to it enjoying the work that i do, but still wish i had a dream to work towards.
I’m 15 years old when was younger I didn’t know what I wanted to do and now I know I want join the royal marine commandos and next year in march I apply
First dream job: actor. I just grew out of it. Second dream job: RUclipsr. Realised it was too much work. Third dream job and my current dream job: writer
Realistically I wanted to work on IT and started at 17 as a trainee and now I’m a DevOps but not happy with the job (or IT in general) at all. Currently working a lot to be a better photographer at concerts and for 🍑 portrait
when i was 7-9 my dream job was to be scientist, then when i figured i am not good in science and don't have interest, i started to get into cricket, dream job at 10: professional cricketer, then i got into aviation stuff, dream job at 11: pilot, THEN finally, now I'm 12 and my dream job is an electrical engineer...
Dream job was to be a musician. Dream job is still to be a musician, albeit a slightly different type perhaps. Not sure if it's financially viable though. Born in 2004, just finished secondary school (6th form), not sure what I'm actually going to pursue.
Wow, this is extremely accurate. I'm gen z, and my dream job was to become a mechanic. During my apprenticeship I realized that I didn't want to become a mechanic. Now I'm studying graphic design and I hope to be able to study and teach history in the future.
I wanna be a programmer right now but I used to want to be a youtuber but it’s way to late to try something like that for the amount of effort I’d have to put in just for a small chance at success
Was lawyer and author, then teacher and is now a counselor/psychologist (still want to also be an author and teacher) Lawyer dropped because although I love the technical side of it, loop holes etc. Going to law school, working such long hours, the expense of law school, little time to have for my family, the hours to time you have to out in grunt work at the beginning made it so it was not going to be a good fit for me.
Wanted to be a writer now I'm a freelance writer also wanted to learn to box, be a narrative designer for a triple A game, live in a two story Gothic carpenter shotgun house 😂, have alot of tattoos, and make my own liquor. ( learning how to home brew, still working on becoming a narrative designer, and I've joined a boxing gym, and saving for my tattoo journey little by little, and also saving to have my house built in guanajuato Mexico cuz doing it in America would most likely murder my wallet and erode my life/sanity if I stayed here 🤣)
I wanted to be a journalist, or just a writer. Took a long time, but this Gen x woman finally snagged a job as a social influencer/blogger. I wrote for pay for seven years and it was glorious. Go for it, people!
When I was younger my dream job was to become a pilot or an astronaught. Then I realized how expensive and slim my chances where, so I decided on aerospace engineer instead. But I found an opportunity and now I'm on track to be a pilot and hopefully an astronaught eventually as well
I wanted to be a rock singer like Jem (80s cartoon). I left my office job in 2017 and have made a living as a performer ever since. Fun fact: Jem had pink hair and, coincidentally, so do I!
When I was middle school aged I wanted to be a game designer, I. Highschool I wanted to be a voice actor but knew I'd never make it so I stuck with trying to be a game designer but never did that either.
I wanted to be a pilot, it was amazing, having all that responsibility and flying thousands of feet in the air. Pretty exciting, then I came across a little show called Better Call Saul...
I wanted to have a job as a "fishy scientist", and the more i grew up, the more i wanted to be a marine biologist, so once im in college im gonna double major in marine biology and oceanography!
My dream job is to be a singer. That or an artist I'd love both. I'm not even a good singer not really. My boyfriend was the only one to ever be encouraging about that dream. I only realized how much the dream meant to me when I brought it up several times while drunk and inspired and once gave my boyfriend a whole concert. He cried probably because he was just as drunk and my songs were sad. But I promise I'm not good so I'll never understand it all. I'm training to be a hairdresser. Very different things they all are aren't they
I always wanted to be a mad scientist when I was a child, then more specifically chemistry Ofc I probably had a youtuber phase And a marine biologist stage Then I kinda thought about it more at 13 and wanted to be a lawyer Now at 15 I'm seeing more clearly. My morals are too strong to be a lawyer and I'm not sure if I'm confident enough. Currently I want a degree in astrophysics or aerospace engineering, I want to go into the space industry. I'm also debating joining the RAF and doing astrophysics before or after to become an astronaut, I want to make a difference and escape this rock

Don’t give up on your dreams ❤
Wow, this is extremely accurate. I'm gen z, and my dream job was to become a mechanic. During my apprenticeship I realized that I didn't want to become a mechanic. Now I'm studying graphic design and I hope to be able to study and teach history in the future.

Age 11 my dream was to be a businessman. Now , age 18 I started my start up journey
Was lawyer and author, then teacher and is now a counselor/psychologist (still want to also be an author and teacher)
Lawyer dropped because although I love the technical side of it, loop holes etc. Going to law school, working such long hours, the expense of law school, little time to have for my family, the hours to time you have to out in grunt work at the beginning made it so it was not going to be a good fit for me.
Dream job was to be a scientist, currently acing ap bio and ap chem at the same time, think we’re making it out of this one 🙏🔥
There's no such thing as a dream job, Max, that's an obligation, proved by your , once again, great video 😊❤❤❤
Lovely message
My dream job for as long as I can remember is to make movies, still would love to do that
My childhood dream job (and still current) is to work at nasa, Astronaut or astrophysicist.
I have been lucky because I haven't even gotten halfway through secondary/high school and I already have an offer to be a game coder/developer.
Dream small and shit will just go your way
When I was middle school aged I wanted to be a game designer, I. Highschool I wanted to be a voice actor but knew I'd never make it so I stuck with trying to be a game designer but never did that either.
That pun was not intended and we all know that.
I wanted to be an engineer but now I want to be a corporate lawyer
I wanted to be an engineer but that changed with me finding new stuff that I really liked now I’m going for a meteorologist
I've always wanted to become an astrophysist but now here I am studying Business.
I wanted to be a pilot, it was amazing, having all that responsibility and flying thousands of feet in the air. Pretty exciting, then I came across a little show called Better Call Saul...

Ofc I probably had a youtuber phase
And a marine biologist stage
Then I kinda thought about it more at 13 and wanted to be a lawyer
Now at 15 I'm seeing more clearly.
