But in Proverbs it says "The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, beholding the evil and the good." So God just watched this atrocity go down-like some sadist pervert, and sat on his hands and did nothing. God is love? Yeah, right.
Umm ... I wanted to read that story in the Bible, but ... I know I couldn't cope. So ... who exactly was that man who fed that woman to the pack of rapists, then carved up her dead body afterwards??? (I just can stomach reading it for myself. 😢)
@@shriggs55 He said he could not read it for himself because of how disturbing the story is. Would you be willing to briefly summarize who the man was?
5:10 You’re speaking my language here. I have friends - generally very dear people with whom I simply disagree on a few socially important but interpersonally marginal points - who nevertheless feel that 45 is getting some kind of raw deal vis a vis January 6th I have not heard them myself, but their son, also my friend, has related some of their thoughts to me. Apparently, it was not a particularly big deal. You can’t show that anyone but a Trump supporter died or was seriously injured. And everything that happened was Pelosi’s fault. Why, the Democrats were giving these people tours and showing them all the vulnerable spots! And here’s my thing: let’s set aside the contradiction of “nothing happened” and “what happened was Pelosi’s fault”; let’s set aside (somehow) the actual deaths and (I expect) serious injuries which did result; and let’s set aside the “stop the steal” bullshit that one side (hint: not the Dems) used to stir all this up into a frenzy and that it all emanated from one person who still won’t let it go. My President sat on his hands and did nothing when the Capitol was overtaken. A reckoning is due for that alone. And even assuming his best possible motives for doing so (not that I can think of any), the result, had the crowd achieved even part of their aims, would have been a violative interruption of the peaceful transfer of power such that he, the President, would accrue the benefits. Even if I were inclined to afford him the benefit of the doubt, I don’t understand the logic where that doesn’t implicate him.
So they really think Trump let Nancy Pelosi frame him? Like his tiny hands were tied because of Nancy's had the authority to summon the national guard to defend the capitol bldg & didn't? What a weak man, beaten by an elderly lady. It's ridiculous the mental gymnastics they'll employ and absurd conclusions they'll read to avoid facing the reality.
Thank you, Mr. Deity. Much appreciated. Vote. And Vote Blue, up and down the ballot, folks. This nation will not survive another Dumbold admin. Finally, I gotta say, I loved the 'unusual' joke.
Well when you put it like that..... Trump is just like Yahweh. All he does is whine about how people don't love him enough, needlessly harms others for his own "glory", and sows hate and division everywhere he goes.
I was talking to someone recently about Star Trek, of which I am an enormous fan. I realized I got a lot of my morality from these stories. My parents weren’t great, but I had an older sister who loved me unconditionally. I did get religious “education” but all of it was confusing and the kids’ stories (Noah’s Ark, etc) seemed utterly silly to my precocious mind. So where did I get my moral stance? I believe I was born w it, as an evolved emotional hominid. We learned morality from each other. So when I hear the religious say atheists only have morals(if they even allow us them) bc god made us, I get furious
No need to get angry; it's only because they have been taught, encouraged, and made to believe that only their Man In The Sky (the one who kills thousands at the raindrop of a hat) is the source of morality. Even if that Man In The Sky doesn't lead by example. They've been taught to believe that humanity is worthless, empty, and living in sin. There is only one way to save themselves, and that's The Man In The Sky (or the Orange Man running for President).
@@georgekatkins Anger can be useful if it drives us to action to correct unfairness or protect someone's boundaries. I think in this case the anger can be used to stand for keeping religious rules out of lawmaking.
@@JaniceinOR Sure, I agree with you on that, at least as far as motivation goes. And there certainly IS a lot to get angry at these days! Invoking religion into government is a huge concern. I get angry about that, as well. But getting angry AT people can make them defensive and uncooperative. That's my point. They may be that way from the get-go, of course, so I don't know if getting angry helps in situations like that.
@georgekatkins Ah, with the clarification I can understand. I agree that getting angry at the indoctrinated people is likely to be counterproductive. Since OP did not specify the direction of their fury, I did not assume a specific direction.
P.S That "Jessica" thingy is from a fav. of mine, "Randy Rainbow", right here on YT... Changes up classic songs to scathingly deride the extreme right...
um, trump is an atheist. i'm kinda glad about that. could you imagine if he was a real christian, with that level of narcissism? i mean, christianity already promotes narcissism, on its own, in a bigly way. if trump wasn't an atheist, the christofascist agenda would've materialized under his administration . i hate claiming him as one of us, in that regard, but thank nonexistent god that he's a fake christian, and not good at faking it
You didn't mention the other parallel, of both requiring worship and slavish devotion, at the pain of dire consequences The biggest reason I think Trump is not a Christian, is that he thinks he is God, in all the ways that matter at least. I have to wonder if someone in his past told him that the orange makeup made him look like a golden idol, and Trump thought that sounded awesome.
If you don't end this video by standing for half an hour like you're waiting for a bus, while playing some suitably stirring music you know full well the original artists would resent you listening to, I will be slightly disappointed. hashtag trump's not even phoning it in any more.

Yes, he does. But my reference was to his point about God causing everything, good or bad, that happens. He's right about that. And he's wrong about Trump - in my opinion. I am never bothered by political commentary in anti-apologetics dialogue. I don't understand people who are. Politics and religion are inextricably linked (at least for now) in this country. So God just watched this atrocity go down-like some sadist pervert, and sat on his hands and did nothing. God is love? Yeah, right.
And then the story somehow gets worse from there.
Umm ... I wanted to read that story in the Bible, but ... I know I couldn't cope.
So ... who exactly was that man who fed that woman to the pack of rapists, then carved up her dead body afterwards???
(I just can stomach reading it for myself. 😢)

He said he could not read it for himself because of how disturbing the story is.
Would you be willing to briefly summarize who the man was?

5:10 You’re speaking my language here.
I have friends - generally very dear people with whom I simply disagree on a few socially important but interpersonally marginal points - who nevertheless feel that 45 is getting some kind of raw deal vis a vis January 6th
I have not heard them myself, but their son, also my friend, has related some of their thoughts to me.

Finally, I gotta say, I loved the 'unusual' joke.
God acting - or failing to act - for evil reasons, arbitrary reasons; or for good reasons _that are completely mysterious to us_ is all the same.

Well when you put it like that..... Trump is just like Yahweh. All he does is whine about how people don't love him enough, needlessly harms others for his own "glory", and sows hate and division everywhere he goes.
I like how you gave a shout out to messianic manic🤣🤣
Got the name wrong though. I’ve been calling him that for… seems like more than 15 years.
@@georgekatkins
Anger can be useful if it drives us to action to correct unfairness or protect someone's boundaries.
@georgekatkins
Ah, with the clarification I can understand.
I agree that getting angry at the indoctrinated people is likely to be counterproductive.
Since OP did not specify the direction of their fury, I did not assume a specific direction.

Wait, there are MAGAt atheists? How??????
um, trump is an atheist. i'm kinda glad about that. could you imagine if he was a real christian, with that level of narcissism? i mean, christianity already promotes narcissism, on its own, in a bigly way. if trump wasn't an atheist, the christofascist agenda would've materialized under his administration . i hate claiming him as one of us, in that regard, but thank nonexistent god that he's a fake christian, and not good at faking it
I think half are the big L libertarian types who believe if they paid no taxes roads and hospitals would build themselves because...reasons.
You didn't mention the other parallel, of both requiring worship and slavish devotion, at the pain of dire consequences
The biggest reason I think Trump is not a Christian, is that he thinks he is God, in all the ways that matter at least.
I have to wonder if someone in his past told him that the orange makeup made him look like a golden idol, and Trump thought that sounded awesome.

Yes, he does. But my reference was to his point about God causing everything, good or bad, that happens. He's right about that. And he's wrong about Trump - in my opinion. All of us are right about somethings and wrong about others. Good people change their minds once it becomes clear that they're wrong about the things they're wrong about. That's why I'm no longer a Right-wing Republican. 😉

And, oh dear Hitch, could steal this election because some ultrarich (who don't want to pay taxes) and know he's theirs to control. As for the Jan 6 suspects/convicts "not likely" they get time off for good behavior is correct IF they get convicted under Federal charges. Federal prisons don't have parole/probation so if your sentence is ten years (for example) you do the full ten years.
@@discontinuedmodel232 I love that!!! ❤️
It's pronounced 'Tramp'.
I am never bothered by political commentary in anti-apologetics dialogue. I don't understand people who are. Politics and religion are inextricably linked (at least for now) in this country. It's just a plain, obvious truth. Like... it's standing right in front of the complainers, slapping them in the face on an hourly basis. Yet, some still complain about the subject, rather than doing what they can to end it (which starts with the very discussion they are complaining-about).
But don't you KNOW Mr. D that since god is the ultimate foundation and instantiates all extant facts that he can do and prescribe anything?! (To paraphrase WLC and DD) So it's not immoral for him to command genocide or anything while telling humans it's immortal for THEM to do it?!😂
I *hate* that I know what you are referring to... "God can't fail morally, because he doesn't give moral commands to himself"
