What I always wonder, I always ask, and never get a straight answer about, is if God INTENDED for apologists to make a cumulative case.
Especially for recently found pieces of evidence.
      Isn't that weird?
Did God want for a specific piece of evidence to go missing for thousands of years, condemning thousands of people to the hell of the unconvinced, and make the evidence appear just now?
Is God hiding compelling evidence that will appear in the future, after I'm already dead and presumably burning?
      DID GOD WANT APOLOGISTS???
Apologists disagree about how compelling the evidence is. But they all agree it's fine. This is the right amount of evidence.
      Less evidence, nobody believes.
More evidence, our free will gets violated (or something).
So the evidence is fine tuned to be precisely this. 🤔 Compelling to some, and not compelling to others (especially the most educated).
So why are there apologists?? Why don't they just shut up? God already put the right amount of evidence at our disposal, to convince the percentage he wanted to convince, so maybe they should shut up forever. Otherwise they're violating our free will (or something).

After I left Christianity, it took me several years before I became embarrassed for the absurd BS that I once believed, but it happened. I realized how foolish, ridiculous, and unfounded my beliefs had been and that's when I went to work studying religion, only to find that all religious scholars know that Moses didn't write the Pentateuch. Most don't believe the Exodus story or that Moses was a real person. Most believe that the Israelite's were Canaanites... and so it goes. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John weren't written by disciples. Interpolations are everywhere in the Bible. What I was told in Church is BS and most educated pastors know that.

I've never really understood why Christian philosophers phrase it as God existing outside of time, when all they need is God existing outside of our time.
Why couldn't God exist in a different time line? Heck he could create time lines as much as he liked on a whim.
I think they would be better off saying their God is not constrained by our time. To imply that he would not be constrained by any time, sounds like a philosophical dead end.
I suppose the concept isn't in the bible, but then neither does it have the concept of God creating time.

    • @ari1234a
      @ari1234a Месяц назад +2

I can imagine a different timeline or the existence of a god/s outside of our time, sure, no problem, but that still doesn't answer where this god/gods came from ?

Blame Aquinas. His God has to be the creator of absolutely everything - including time. Otherwise, there’s a Being theoretically greater the Him who created time. It’s all a bunch of mental masturbation.

    • @stevewebber707
      @stevewebber707 Месяц назад +1

@@misterdeity It's phenomenally stupid. They don't want God to have a creator, and yet literally everything else needs a creator?
The special pleading is literally out of this world. And I maintain the Craig's shifting the goalposts with that "everything that begins to exist has a cause" just shifts his problem down a chain without addressing it. Oh and I'd love to see him prove that his God didn't begin to exist. Defining a God that doesn't need to begin to exist, doesn't make such a thing real.
We ask for proof of God, and we get yet more stacks of unsupported claims, that the arguments require.
And even still, if their God wasn't needing a creator, his qualities and aspects also wouldn't need a creator. And if existing requires time, that time is intrinsically necessary for that God's existence. They don't even need to say that time was created, since it could have been as eternal as their God, They might even claim that time to be an intrinsic aspect of their God.
At least that would give their absurd claims a loophole.
If God can be love, why couldn't God also be time?
All the yearning for a "perfect" deity, just yields a logical impossibility. And the more perfect, the less logical things get.

To me that means all aspects of god's personality are maximized. So this begs the question why did god have the need or desire to create the universe? Unlike mere mortals who gain knowledge and/or satisfaction from doing stuff that is impossible for Yahweh, as all aspects are already at maximum. In addition this triple-omni notion of Yahweh does not square with how the bible describes his actions.

I've come to the conclusion that our universe and all in it was the result of someone having a wank out in the shed in the next universe over. Realizing he was about to have "the Big Bang", he stuck his member into what he thought was a knothole. It was actually a small tear in his spacetime, and it was into this that he jizzed our universe into being. Of course, he hasn't given our universe a thought since then, but why would he? He didn't know that his "Big Bang" was going to be the start of another universe . . . .
Believe me, I'm trying REALLY HARD to not make any jokes about a particular popular Christmas song here . . . .
If I WERE to believe in a god, I'd be inclined to believe in a character like Red Green, puttering around in The Handyman's Corner, sticking stuff together with The Handyman's Secret Weapon (tm). That would explain a lot -- like duckbill platypuses.

What you described, even if it's low brow is something not to dissimilair to many other 'creation myths' of ancient cultures.
Some Asian cultures it's about some god monkey birthing the world.
Some indiengious believe reality is the result of a dream of greater sleeping beings.
Others have it as the world rides on 4 giant elephants on top of a cosmic god turtle.
The Abrahamic Religions are of course also unbelievable, but I find them boring and a lot less interesting then the prior religions they ripped off.
      E. G. God and Satan, Satan is nothing more than a rip off from the Persian Zoroastrian Religion.
The flood is a rip off of Gilgamesh
Catholicisms trinity is a rip off of Hiduism's God heads.

    Here’s a thought for you, just a lil bit of a tangent…
Social media is responsible for presenting new lines of thought to what were once “closed off“ (concerning alternative/liberal/ progressive lines of thought) communities. This is wreaking havoc on the traditional cultural norms, including Christian patriarchal authority.
As a reaction, cries for tying religious beliefs into legislative action are being implemented. An attempt to “enforce” faith? Ironically, according to many Christian theologies, during the “pre-existence”, there was a great battle in heaven, and a no holds barred, guarantee of adherence to a “divine path” was Lucifer’s plan. Supposedly, Lucifer was defeated.
    Apparently not.

The Creator is prone to changing his mind though; he got very mad at people for "un-aliving" their kids in the Old Testament, but as years went by, he decided "un-aliving" your kids was such a good idea, he did it himself to please himself. Now we all patiently wait for his un-alived kid to come back and "fire" everyone that didn't accept the flimsy and deeply flawed stories he expected us to believe. Have a Nice Day. 🌄

How time actually works, courtesy of Pink Floyd:
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
Sun is the same, in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
