Ah, I thought I'd heard this before and that it seemed like a Bri-Bri from the recent past. This is definitely a more easily shared format, so thank you!
What I always wonder, I always ask, and never get a straight answer about, is if God INTENDED for apologists to make a cumulative case. Especially for recently found pieces of evidence. Isn't that weird? Did God want for a specific piece of evidence to go missing for thousands of years, condemning thousands of people to the hell of the unconvinced, and make the evidence appear just now? Is God hiding compelling evidence that will appear in the future, after I'm already dead and presumably burning? DID GOD WANT APOLOGISTS??? Apologists disagree about how compelling the evidence is. But they all agree it's fine. This is the right amount of evidence. Less evidence, nobody believes. More evidence, our free will gets violated (or something). So the evidence is fine tuned to be precisely this. 🤔 Compelling to some, and not compelling to others (especially the most educated). So why are there apologists?? Why don't they just shut up? God already put the right amount of evidence at our disposal, to convince the percentage he wanted to convince, so maybe they should shut up forever. Otherwise they're violating our free will (or something).
Agreeing with Dalton here.. Yeah, you can't have something be BEFORE the first instance of time, because time is the distance between events. It must exist as soon as you assert anything to have happened. Craig knows how legless his argument was/is.
When WLC claims that there was nothing, before there was something, then claims there was a god, he has already shot himself in the foot; for a god is not nothing. Surprised that Bill can still walk.
If he tries to chew gum and walk his peristaltis shuts down. Not enough brain power for all systems. The guy is like hard plastic crocs. Ugly and uncomfortable. Yet he still exists. Proof that god is evil.
The mental gymnastics of William Lane Craig attempting and failing to exploit the logic of retrocausallity combined with the video edits is hilarious 01:48

It must be so. If there ever is a time of plenty, this very fact will automatically lead to an increase in the population until the natural state of starvation and misery is restored. In a universe of electrons and selfish genes, blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, other people are going to get lucky, and you won't find any rhyme or reason in it, nor any justice. Richard Dawkins, A River Out Of Eden
Let me save you all 17+ minutes... The "case against christianity": "Faith" is defined as "belief without evidence"... "Moron" is defined as "person of faith"... (you are welcome...)
In the best of cases if the apologists' god exists it would be an immensely complex unfathomable being, which makes all the profets' and apologists' confident B essing self defeating.
I don't feel the need to argue *against* Christianity since Christianity has *in no way* demonstrated that it is based in reality. I only argue against what Christians say the rest of us should have to do because of their beliefs.
Lol. They obviously didn't read the manual. Matthew 18:19 "truly I tell you that if 2 of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven".
3:33 look; i've taken huge doses of psychedelics and have watched the clock tick backwards. however, i've never heard so much nonsense from a supposedly intelligent person, as i just witnessed at that timestamp, from WLC, apologist/excusigist extraordinaire. i think he is often disingenuous, a charlatan, who is clearly intelligent, but practicing deceit, but has that gorgeous stentorian voice, and he looks like david lee roth...
WLC's fumbling makes a perfect case for why people should be humble about human fallibility in comprehending "outside" of time and space and err on the side of "I don't know". The alternative is to spout useless nonsense like an idiot and be shown to simply be talking yourself up, as WLC does with all his question -begging in the use of temporal words. Physicists and mathematicians have been seeking to answer these questions, they are not going to be solved by an apologist who claims to have all the answers yet his very words contradict themselves on the logic before they even venture into claims of evidence.
God is a prankster? That would make sense!! The Germanic Gods are real and Loki hasn't been killed by Heimdallr yet, so he created Christianity as a prank, but before Loki could reveal that it was all a prank, his prophesied fight came to pass and he was killed by Heimdallr. And so, Christians have no idea that their God was really a prankster and their whole religion was just a prank!
This is a brilliant refutation of the foolishness engendered by religious belief. The older I get, the more firmly I agree with Hitchens that religion really does poison everything.
I've never really understood why Christian philosophers phrase it as God existing outside of time, when all they need is God existing outside of our time. Why couldn't God exist in a different time line? Heck he could create time lines as much as he liked on a whim. I think they would be better off saying their God is not constrained by our time. To imply that he would not be constrained by any time, sounds like a philosophical dead end. I suppose the concept isn't in the bible, but then neither does it have the concept of God creating time.
I can imagine a different timeline or the existence of a god/s outside of our time, sure, no problem, but that still doesn't answer where this god/gods came from ?
Blame Aquinas. His God has to be the creator of absolutely everything - including time. Otherwise, there’s a Being theoretically greater the Him who created time. It’s all a bunch of mental masturbation.
@@misterdeity It's phenomenally stupid. They don't want God to have a creator, and yet literally everything else needs a creator? The special pleading is literally out of this world. And I maintain the Craig's shifting the goalposts with that "everything that begins to exist has a cause" just shifts his problem down a chain without addressing it. Oh and I'd love to see him prove that his God didn't begin to exist. Defining a God that doesn't need to begin to exist, doesn't make such a thing real. We ask for proof of God, and we get yet more stacks of unsupported claims, that the arguments require. And even still, if their God wasn't needing a creator, his qualities and aspects also wouldn't need a creator. And if existing requires time, that time is intrinsically necessary for that God's existence. They don't even need to say that time was created, since it could have been as eternal as their God, They might even claim that time to be an intrinsic aspect of their God. At least that would give their absurd claims a loophole. If God can be love, why couldn't God also be time? All the yearning for a "perfect" deity, just yields a logical impossibility. And the more perfect, the less logical things get.
How time actually works, courtesy of Pink Floyd: Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain And you are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again Sun is the same, in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
i went to a friend's brother's house one day back in 1970 and when i walked through the door i was given a tab of acid a pair of headphones and told "listen to this" and that was the first time i heard dark side of all the way through. one of the best record productions of all time.
As an ex-Catholic you hit on most of the doctrinal points I struggled with, great laundry list of why Yahweh makes no sense. I'll add one more point, Yahweh is understood to be a perfect being. To me that means all aspects of god's personality are maximized. So this begs the question why did god have the need or desire to create the universe? Unlike mere mortals who gain knowledge and/or satisfaction from doing stuff that is impossible for Yahweh, as all aspects are already at maximum. In addition this triple-omni notion of Yahweh does not square with how the bible describes his actions.
Yes, and on top of that, he created a world filled with the stuff He hates (sin), and knowing that He’d be causing the eternal suffering of sentient beings if He created the world as is! Ridiculous!!!
Let's not forget that Yahweh has an origin story that of being a son of El, had a wife (Asherah) and was at one time a minor god in the Canaanite pantheon of gods and goddesses.
You can't know what's going to happen tomorrow if you can change your mind at any moment. Omnipotent and omniscient at the same time, nah, can't happen.
I think that the omnipotence means God knowing every possible result of every possible event, including results of choices and decisions. This would allow free will. It is a ridiculous concept, but the religionists get round it with the magicality of God. I seem to remember some apologist (possibly Low Bar Bill) saying something like this.
@@lidbass I mean, it still doesn't allow free will because we still couldn't freely do anything, only and always following paths known before we were born. But yeah, Billy doesn't understand the problem because he's paid not to understand but to give excuses to Christians.
@poigntless haha totally misread your question! Because God is magical and the universe isn't. The universe can't just exist because it doesn't make us feel special enough. It's not going to let us live forever in a safe and loving place. And that's so sad.
@@misterdeity Probably an unnecessary over explanation but there are millions of Americans willing to swear that Trump won the Presidential term starting 2020. Now imagine the holy church of MAGA controlled all records for a thousand years destroying those they deemed heretical. Not my skillset but I could see you doing a Church of Maga series.
I've told Yahweh every day for about a week now to appear next to me and prove it exists in a meaningful way. For some reason, nothing happens every time. Hmmm....... 🤔
"The *instant* the decision is made, time *comes into being* ." Does WLC not understand how that is begging the question? This reminds me of the people who say they can't "understand" singular "they" while literally using it without thinking, in the sentences right before and after that statement.
"There are no Christians, as far as I know, blowing up buildings. I am not aware of any Christian suicide bombers. I am not aware of any major Christian denomination that believes the penalty for apostasy is death. I have mixed feelings about the decline of Christianity, in so far as Christianity might be a bulwark against something worse." --Richard Dawkins, Professional Atheist, April 2, 2010
Uhm... Oklahoma City! The Federal Building. Christian nationalist now say publicly here in America that they want to do away with Church and State. They want America to be a Christian Nation and for the leadership and laws of the country to be exclusively Christian. There are Christians in America who would like to see the death penalty for abortion, and who have now given us a country where women are having to nearly bleed out in their cars or a hospital bathroom before they can get the medical care they need. They want raped 11 year old girls to have their step father's baby. In 2012, a bunch of Republican candidates for President spoke at an event where a Pastor called for the death penalty for homosexuals, and they said nothing. Nor did they condemn him after the fact when they were asked about it. Richard is a good friend, but sometimes he's daft as fu¢k!
Btw, the Christian Holy book does indeed call for the murder of those worshiping another spirit. Witches too (which are actually a thing)! It approves of slavery, selling your daughter in to slavery, genocide (including the murder of babies and animals), the theft of lands, misogyny, homophobia, etc... The only reason modern Christians don't practice their religion as it was instructed is because secular, Enlightenment values have prevailed and they no longer have the power to do such things. Go back 500 years when they DID have that power and tell how benevolent Christianity was/is.
and more importantly, there are no chritians able to demonstrate what the g0d even is. as if dentists could not show us what a tooth is. Of course, dentists do not lie for a living, don't teach hate based on some bedroom stuff, and did not start "holy" wars. And no. christianity is not the worst. But it is bad enough. And many countries are just fine without it (with a christian minority)
I'm sure doctors at clinics who are harassed for giving women much needed feminine healthcare would disagree with you. Some of them cannot speak because they are no longer here. Because of a Christian

Ahh. I'm so sorry that you lost your little friend. I bet he had the best home ever.

WLC is as slippery as an eel in a bucket of snot.
3:33 look; i've taken huge doses of psychedelics and have watched the clock tick backwards. however, i've never heard so much nonsense from a supposedly intelligent person, as i just witnessed at that timestamp, from WLC, apologist/excusigist extraordinaire. i think he is often disingenuous, a charlatan, who is clearly intelligent, but practicing deceit, but has that gorgeous stentorian voice, and he looks like david lee roth...
no! no! not mister twiggles!! i DO hate god, i DO iDO!

Thank you
So nice of you!!! You’ve made my fortnight!
@@misterdeity most welcome
WLC's fumbling makes a perfect case for why people should be humble about human fallibility in comprehending "outside" of time and space and err on the side of "I don't know".
The alternative is to spout useless nonsense like an idiot and be shown to simply be talking yourself up, as WLC does with all his question -begging in the use of temporal words.
Physicists and mathematicians have been seeking to answer these questions, they are not going to be solved by an apologist who claims to have all the answers yet his very words contradict themselves on the logic before they even venture into claims of evidence.
Good one, Mr. Mister! That pretty well sums it up!
Another home run. Hilariously brutal! LOL at your facial expressions.
I can't express how much this video means to me and for me! Thank you 💙💙💙💙💙

Well, when you put it like that...
Said no theist ever.
LOL!!!
This is a brilliant refutation of the foolishness engendered by religious belief.
The older I get, the more firmly I agree with Hitchens that religion really does poison everything.
@@markgordon5266 it steals everything, too. Minds, money, land, morals and credit.
Well, that pretty much sums it up. Well done, again.
How time actually works, courtesy of Pink Floyd:
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
Sun is the same, in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
i went to a friend's brother's house one day back in 1970 and when i walked through the door i was given a tab of acid a pair of headphones and told "listen to this" and that was the first time i heard dark side of all the way through. one of the best record productions of all time.

@@misterdeityWell god was bored so created his own horror movie; even sadistic gods must get their entertainment somehow!
@@BeenDownSoLong... and can’t be omnipotent if you can’t give yourself foreknowledge.
@@lidbass More verbal masturbation.
@@archapmangcmg Well said.
Why can god just exist but the universe can't?
Because the totally self-sufficient God decided He was lonely and wanted people to worship Him. But only of their own free will. Or else!
@@poigntless because priests need your money.
Because universe doesn’t make them feel special and is bad safety blanket.
@poigntless haha totally misread your question! Because God is magical and the universe isn't. The universe can't just exist because it doesn't make us feel special enough. It's not going to let us live forever in a safe and loving place. And that's so sad.

@@misterdeity Funny thing is, none of that has the slightest impact on my perception of the spiritual experiences I've had.
