Thank you for watching TeddyNinja! That is definitely something I'd like to do but haven't managed to align everything to make that happen as of yet. Hopefully sometime in 2022!
It's not 100% clear. You could argue the Heavy Weapon armor reduction is taken at the beginning of the game and then modified as normal later in the game. Or is the armor reduction an "ongoing" effect? The Heavy Weapon and Lord of War Ability descriptions don't make it clear one way or the other. There is a Norse Gael ability that is nearly identical which does specify in the ability description that the Heavy Weapon modifies it, so my feeling is it should be modified back down to a 5 when the Heavy Weapon is used. Regardless, it's worth clarifying with your gaming group or a TO beforehand as it's a fairly hefty difference.
In the ability clarifications by “Ragnar” in the Age of Vikings book it states that the armor is reduced down to 5 in melee for the Lord of War ability
@@williammorrow1187 Hehehe, sure enough! Thank you very much for pointing that out! This is a very common question. Not sure how I and other folks keep missing that!
Shock is very good against Scots, I think I used it most turns against my friend's Scots and it really messes with their melee. Rodge spotted it as well but an uncommon dice to activate Warriors to charge is very handy, this has come up a few times in games of mine with them.
Thanks for chiming in, Andrew! It seems like every game there is a pivotal turn where I need the warriors to get mixed in and I roll nothing but uncommons so having Shock in the back pocket is a life saver!
Running 2 x hearthguard as an 8 with 3 units of warriors and a priest gives you enough helmets to destroy in the final 3 turns, every turn! i find it forces other warbands to come out and attack in the early game or they'll regret it.
Very useful tips. Struggled in my last game against my friends Norman cavalry. I hung back to begin with big mistake 😕. Will be more aggressive next time 👍
6:19 I have just started with Anglo Danes and I’m a bit confused by noble lineage. Is it impossible to trigger on turn one by taking one of your inactive dice, putting it in noble lineage and then spend straight away, or do you have to carry the dice across to turn 2 before able to use?
A warlord can close ranks??? That's new to me. I thought he/she couldn't close ranks as it is a single miniature. But of course a warlord would have some bodyguards etc. 🤔
Assuming it has no special equipment, then yes! Close Ranks sounds better/more Saga-like than Fight Defensively (as it was called in 1st ed) so don't get tripped up on the name of the step!
I don’t think you should be reducing the Warlord’s armour to 5 when you use the Lord of War ability. My reasoning is that faction info states that you must have a heavy weapon for your warlord. So the Lord of War is mildly pointless to say armour 6, as you would never ever have that.
Thanks for the comment J! Unfortunately, we missed our opportunity to clear this up once and for all. Instead of musing, we should have just read the additional clarification for Saga abilities on page 27, which clearly indicates in the lower right hand corner that his armor is reduced to 5 with the heavy weapon.
Inactive Saga dice are ones you have generated and rolled but have not placed on the battleboard. Available Saga dice are ones you have not generated and are left over. Noble Liniage is good but you have to spend a Saga dice to change the face of another Saga dice so it's really a two dice ability.
Good to see you again Nick. Regards to the family. Andy & Tracy
Ah the best videos from Rodge are the faction talks. I wonder if at some point we'll get a quick battle report to highlight the reviewed faction :)

Great review!! Love to see it!!! Definitely learned more perspective on the faction!!!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
My favourite faction! Thanks Rodge …. I learned a couple of new tricks.
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching!
For the Lord of War, perhaps because the Warlord cannot take any other weapon, the armour becomes 6 as the ability says? That's how I perceived it.

You'll definitely have the helmets but that warband is definitely on the smaller end! Could be worth it, though!

Awesome, glad to help John! Take it to 'em!!
Great faction review guys :)
Thanks for watching!

You spend the die and get the benefit immediately.

So what do you mean by "inactive Saga dice"? Sorry but I haven't played this game since the 2nd edition came out.
Inactive Saga dice are ones you have generated and rolled but have not placed on the battleboard. Available Saga dice are ones you have not generated and are left over. Noble Liniage is good but you have to spend a Saga dice to change the face of another Saga dice so it's really a two dice ability.
Thanks for piping in on this Andrew! Studio Tomahawk could have chosen better terms in this regard. Think of Inactive dice as Unassigned dice.
Hi, what would you suggest to bring for 7 points for Anglo-Danes? How many dice generating units I should have for this point format?
Not sure if the Young Lion will see this but I'd recommend 3 points of HG, 3 Warriors and 1 Levy, swapping the HG and Levy in or out as needed.
