Ford Capri 280 Brooklands Turbo Technics. Interior Restoration.

While the Brooklands 280 capri is getting rare, the Turbo Technics addition is even rarer.
The common issues with this interior are.
1. Warn drivers bolster leather.
2. Damaged or warn top stitching
3. Damaged/soft bolster foams
4. Headliner around sunroof coming away
5. Paint scratched/missing on the ashtray
6. Warn steering wheel
All of which can be found in this interior.
As well as that, you can see the drivers bolster replacement and repair leaving a lot to be desired.
The main aim when renovating an interior is to keep all or as much original leather as possible. As the driver bolster was not original and due to the state of it, a replacement was the only option. Simple?...Not!
All the original leather pieces that were connecting to the bolster had to have the stitching carefully removed. The Recaro panel on the seat face and top piece under the headrest had to be removed at both ends. This allowed for the extra holes punched in with the previous repair to be rectified. Once complete all panel were join stitched.
To finish and because the original panels already had holes in them, we had to align the needle with each individual hole and wind it through by hand. This ensures no extra holes are added (as with the previous repair) giving the best finish possible.
Why use a lighter colour leather when changing the bolster? Because when you correctly prepare and dye the leather, you can use any colour you like. It will not crack, peel or fade. Also, it helps to reduce costs for the customer by not having to purchase a half or full hide for such a small piece. A decision for the customer which we feel is the correct one.

Hi James,
I have spoken to the customer and he has 205/50 ZR 15 on which is slightly larger than that standard 195's which most 280's have fitted.
