Chris Cornell wrote poetry, he sang and played with his heart and soul. A bottomless well of pure talent. I love his album "Higher Truth". He was humble, intelligent and kind. Just a beautiful human and very missed.

I'm a huge fan of Chris Cornell , his soli work, Audioslave work and of course Soundgarden music. I'm also a fan of Prince and his music is legendary. Chris did a great job of covering "nothing compares " but, there is a live version of that song covered by the singer who actually made that song famous, Sinead O'Connor, who has also unfortunately passed way too early in life, she did a live version for one of the music award shows, I think or maybe a tribute to Prince concert, but the emotion and her incredible voice that she used in that live performance had people crying. You have to hear that cover and it doesn't knock down Chris's performance, but as the song says "nothing compares" .

The original always hits me in the feels - the lyrics "if the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you" and for an acoustic version I did appreciate how Chris phrased some of this.
This was our wedding song. This exact rendition. This performance moves me but i very much appreciate the fact that you stay true to yourself and your tastes. I think this is an incredible performance but understand that not everything i like will hit you the same as it hits me. Our differences are what make us all great. Thanks for being 100%.
My favorite Led Zeppelin song, when Chris did this cover he made it even better. If you haven’t already heard it, Chris covers Nothing Compares 2 U beautifully.

Chris covered several Zeppelin songs. I was at his last show here in Detroit. My best friend and I were kinda joking that age may have possibly caught up to him. He was still extremely good looking but his performance was lacking a bit. We had seen him live several times, but it had been about 10 years between shows at this point. His final song was a cover of Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying"! I woke up the next morning to a text from my bestie that said, "I know what was off"! And that was it. I had no idea wtf she was even talking about. So as I'm responding, "You ok or having a stroke? Wtf u talking about?" I hit send while turning on the TV. And there it was. I now knew as well. I haven't listened to that song since.
Seen Chris many time (favourite was with Pearl Jam, Neil Young in Toronto), but there's something about Mr. Cornell singing with his guitar like this. There are many more covers - Prince, MJ,,etc. Try a few more. By the way, we don't have to love everything an artist does.
This is funny-- I am generally floored by Chris Cornell, including his acoustic numbers (e.g.his cover of "No one Compares to You" knocks me on my butt every time ), so I was wondering through this whole song why I wasn't moved, or even much feeling it at all. Hearing you say pretty much the same thing was kind of reassuring. Thanks for the reaction...and your usual honesty (though I was curious what you meant by trying to be "as honest as I can be." Wondering when you might be unable to be 100%).
I agree with your assessment. Love Chris Cornell, he is accomplished. This song is not like the original, just a simple acoustic, which is fine. Try the original from Zeppelin, that one is moving.

Led Zeppelin is by FAR the greatest rock band of all time. I would also put Chris Cornell and Soundgarden in my top ten. I say all that to say, while I appreciate Cornell’s love of Led Zeppelin, he did not capture the emotion of the original, which is an amazing song by any standard. Please have a listen and thanks for your honesty. Also, if you want to hear Chris Cornell at his best, listen to Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog

I love honest reactions. If it doesn't click for you, it doesn't click four you and that's it. Now... You want to get emotional? Look for Chris "Ticket to Ride" cover, from the beattles song. There're several life versions. One oof them is extremely emotional half the way to the end (the 1/29/10 Troubadour life one. I think you can se him storming out the stage, even) and I don't know if I can recommend it because it hurt me a little to watch it. But the other ones are just the right amount of an emotional performance.
